@@MrSec84, that would be a wrong assumption. Of course if I had a proper shower cubicle, rather than this shitty shower above a bath with a shower bench set up, I'd be more free to move and would wash more thoroughly, but my landlord isn't interested in improving this house and I certainly don't have the money.

The chest, arguably one of the cleanest areas already which you spend far too much time cleaning even though it’s not dirty vs your feet, arguably among the dirtiest of our parts and you think they’ll just be fine getting dripped on. Something to that effect. For people who don’t know who Paul Reiser is, he is the doctor on stranger things and used to have a very popular show with Helen Hunt.

A more appropriate question might be who thinks it is important to waste water, cause pollution etc by even showering weekly, when you can clean your body more thoroughly by washing various parts daily eg underarms etc that get smelly, and other parts that do not get too bad on a rotating basis eg Monday we do legs, Tuesday we do arms, Wednesday we do belly etc. And I mean really clean each section well, lathering up with soap, scrubbing it clean using the trusty old floor scrubbing brush, rinsing with clean water etc. This is how country Europeans did it and were always fresh and clean here, using just a wash basin. The Australians in the Bush who wanted to be clean, despite drought and severe water shortages would run a weekly bath whose water was shared by the entire family, no showers. By the last person, the water was pretty dirty. It was then recycled eg to wash the wooden floor, if your house even had a floor at all, as many were just dirt floors that were muddy and dusty, with snakes centipedes red back spiders, rats etc. . And then, the by now very dirty water would be thrown on the roses, where the soap in the water could keep rose insects under control. These weekly baths were in readiness to go to Church Sundays and meet your Maker looking decent. Everything and everybody came up smelling like roses, well, for a day or so in stinking heat and country grime, as cleanlin ess is hard in the Bush and, after a while of trying to maintain Pointless, impossible hygiene standards, uou realise how irrelevant it all is and just take a wash when you feel like it eg by jumping into a creek or dam or the sea etc. In cities, cleali ess matters more, due to crowding, but it can still be achieved like they used to in the city ie a wash basin of soap and water and scrub up. Hair only needs a weekly wash, really, if cleverly styled to hide the greasiness. I even saw an old manual on grooming and bathing etc for performing artists eg ballerinas who must look good. It said they should avoid endless showering and hair washing, just slick greasy hair back neatly. Must be where the 'city slicker' term originates. I was surprised but can see why. Who is going to get up from the audience and come up and sniff you on stage? We have security to block them. And other performers will sweat and smell, too, so who cares?!? Constant eg daily showering, bathi g wastes time/money/water etc. Such an unnecessary waste, when one can still be just as clean by other means. Cleanliness is only a problem if your standards are different from others. If your standards match there is no problem. Two pigs cannot smell each other. But, if one is a dirty grub in a dirty old tracksuit going to work in, say, an office or beauty parlour etc, then they will be smelly and dirt to others there. And Should pay greater attention to personal cleanliness, unless they wish to deliberately offend, as some of the scruffies do. Because they hate others in society they cannot avoid eg on trains, buses etc. I know of some angry folk who do just this ie offend by deliberately not washing etc, just to make a statement about how they feel about the world. One way to ensure you get a fairer go as a poor person or whatever on eg public transport is to simply refuse to wash and smell foul. You will be guaranteed all the space you need around you, even at peak hour crowding. Try it. It works, though you may get hostile stares. What can they do about you? They can't deny you the right yo travel if you have a valid ticket and are behaving properly as a traveller. If they complain, just casually pull out a can of toilet freshener from your carry all bag and spray them with it, to, you know 'clear the air of foul odours'. But mind all those allergic kids, though.... Or politely ask if they'd mind you taking a quick shower to freshen up at their place, since you are homeless and can access no hot shower to get clean... And watch their reaction to this. Always speak nicely and politely, of course. Poor folk, even the great unwashed always fare better if they are nice, modest and polite. You could make polite social small talk to connect with fellow humans eg by talking about how you do your bit for the environment, by saving water and not wasting it on showering, polluting waterways with grease and soap etc that then causes those disgusting smelly massive fat berg sewer blockages (try not to stare at fat feminists occupying two train seats as you say this, about fat bergs etc clogging up urban sewers etc as some can be very sensitive and misconstrue everything they hear...). Don't be hurt or surprised if your reaching out to fellow humans in a spirit of love and friendship is met with coldness and rejection, as it often is. Because we have a tolerance of 'diversity', especially in cities like Melbourne. Diversity means 'differences', if you have no uni degree to know this. And, well, you are so very 'different' if you are poor, homeless and can't take daily showers, unless it rains or you have a partner who gives you free golden showers. So you will be very different. Hopefully, you may be 'tolerated'. If not, don't lose sleep over it. Part of the beauty of being different ie a misfit unwashed social reject is you can just thumbyour nose at them. No skin off your nose, when you have nothing to lose. Nothing and nobody can touch you. Too smelly and dirty to go near. They leave you alone. You don't count in their society. Who gives a shit, anyway...

“But the water trickles down” Stick your hands in dirt and rinse it off with water. That’s what you’re doing and it doesn’t actually clean you. And no the soap doesn’t “travel” along with it. By the time the soap would get to your legs there’s very little soap left and it doesn’t make enough contact to clean it. That’s why you *lather* and not just squirt soap on your head for the water to spread around. You’re already in there, it takes maybe 1 minute extra when you’ve been in there for 10 already. If you *really* wanted to save time then why don’t you shower every other day?

You don’t need to wash your legs with soap in every shower! 2-3 times a week - unless it’s summer... or been leg sweating.
@davidzatica4085 жыл бұрын
What they said was so stupid about the fact that the water runs down and doesn’t stop at the waist, does that mean that you only need to wash your head and the water runs all the way down. And also, when you wash yourself, the water falls off you and it doesn’t stay on you, leaving a few drops behind and not enough to cover your legs if you only wash the top part of your body Another point I want to make is that what happens if you go to beach. Of course your going to get your legs dirty of sand at least a bit and the point I made at the beginning isn’t going to help you either. I hope the people that don’t wash their legs change their mind after this cause it’s just unhygienic

I think those who don't understand washing your feet but not legs are kidding themselves. There is significantly more sweat build up with feet, hence why feet are more prone to yeast infections. Not saying legs don't need washing at all, but they naturally do not need the same attention as feet and other parts of the body. Also, I occasionally pee in the shower, but mainly if I need to go during. I'm not leaving the shower just to pee when goes to the same place. Plus I make sure its clean afterwards

The whole point of showering is to either remove dirt/grime and/or sweat/oder. Who is walking around with sweaty legs. I don’t spray antiperspirant on my knees just seems unnecessary. I only wash below my groin if I’ve been at sports with mud or whatever. Also most people don’t physically scrub their back they just let the water “wash away the sweat” why doesn’t that apply to your legs a much less sweaty area. Everyone pees in the shower it’s just a drain just like the toilet Also what does it matter what order you clean yourself in the whole point is you make that part of you clean then rinse and then it is no longer dirty. Same with a towel heard people saying that they save the crotch till last when drying off if your worried about the cleanliness of that area then obviously you did not properly clean yourself.
