I know it's been over a year, but I really appreciate this video and all the information your provide. I am 9 months in on microloc journey and I have been about to have a heart attack about this very situation lol! I have a master loctician and ofcourse she said it was normal, but I still panicked and thought maybe it's because my hair is too dry. I haven't used anything except clarifying shampoo and light oil on my scalp only, occasional filtered water misting. The rest of my hair is flourishing, but them little 'shirley temple locs' around the temple area are being difficult just like this. I trust my loctician and follow her instructions to a tee, but it does help alleviate the frustration for a first timer when we can confirm what is a normal and what might be a potential problem from another expert. Thank you for sharing your expertise!

I just lost a loc at my edges unfortunately. I didn't realize how fine and thin my edges were until I locked my hair. Thankfully a loctitian in my area reattached my loc for me but she had to add extra hair, which I didn't even know was done for loc reattachment.

Yup, you can always reattach or even add extra hair. Just make sure it's done right so it doesn't damage the base of your hair and eventually causing breakage and loosing the entire loc.

This is my problem but not on my edges, it’s my nape 😢 I even had a loctician say she COULD NOT retie it cause it is too soft and now that you mentioned it, it’s fine and low density which makes sense. That’s the only place that keeps getting undone and not staying put.

This was very helpful to me. I thought it was me. I made "matrix moves" to keep from losing them, lol. I thought it was the bonnet and switched to scarves. I am around 18 months now. I tell you, the edges were giving me grief. I lost two locs and had to combine one, but overall I am still happy with my decision to get Sisterlocks. I'm trusting the process.

A few of my locks has those shedding spots where its thicker and then goes really thin. My loctician says it could be post partum shedding. I hate that those locs aren't dense all the way throughout.

Hello, hoping you can offer some advice for me and my SL's. During my 1st year I did dye my hair, as recommended. I have about 6- inches of gray hair, as well as, about 5 inches dark brown hair. I started graying pre SL's, and decided to wait 1-year for my locks to settle in, before considering dying again. The stark contrast is a bit much. I already know the easiest resolution is to Cut It Off, but I like my length. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

What if you just add hair and braid it?

That's an option but be very careful. That hairline is softer and weaker so the added hair should not out weigh your natural hair. You don't want it bulky because it can thin out the base if it struggles to go thru the base.
