That definitely will NOT hurt her career. The Air Force does not want people that ' can't take it. ' She is telling it like it is. She is doing the Air Force a favor. Lots of people are going into the Air Force thinking that they are ' getting away from it all '. I was 17 years old when I went into the Air Force. After Tech school, I was sent to Germany for three years. Three years seemed like a life time at that age. I want my Mommie.

Bob Zimmer so did you regret it??
@bobzimmer18084 жыл бұрын
Did I regret it? I was a wild child, I just lost my driver's license, three tickets in six months. The police were staking out my school for drivers showing off. I was too dumb to understand that. All I can say is the four years in the Air Force gave me maturity. If I had been mature and focused, I would not have joined. You know you'll never get rich in the service. I have sense surpassed my wildest dreams. The big house on the hilltop and a net worth far beyond my expectations. Never could have happened in the AF. I'm not knocking the service, my father put 26 years in the Navy and he never regretted it. He loved the Navy.

Let me just say, initially you will be disappointed. Basic training is meant to break you down, they will tell you are the lowest thing on earth. Later you will be tested. Hopefully you will get a school that you like. Two things will happen, you will like the job security and medical. You'll like group activities and enjoy the people that you work with. Remember one thing, once you re-inlist, you are now senior to most airmen/women. Most likely you will now be a supervisor. That's where the rub comes in. In civilian life you have to work for that position. In the military, time in the service will often make you the supervisor regardless of talent. That worked for me because I then knew then why I wanted a college education and to get ahead. Don't sign up for more than four years. Most will regret it. Only one person at my radar station re-inlisted. Just my opinion.

You are completely right, why join if you’re not even showing initiative. The Air Force won’t hold your hand. Sometimes the answers are in your videos and you share your own stories as well. If they are trusting you so much as to ask you, they should watch the videos you upload or even others as well. Or on the official site, it is there for a reason. It’s a different beast once you’re in. I remember when I was still looking through these military channels to look for guidance and advice prior to enlisting, and honestly, nothing can really prepare you for what BMT, tech school and operational Air Force will take from you. My experiences have been vastly different from theirs, I’ve had better opportunities and missed opportunities. The best advice I’ve been given by my SNCOs is trust but verify. Do your own due diligence because no one is going to care more for your career or for your life than yourself. Very good message Elora!

I'm trying to get into a DSD for recruiting as someone who's been in for 4 years and made E5 first time and have done nothing but be the squeaky wheel to get better jobs and more leadership roles. I think I could really help some folks out there, while also understanding I have a job to do. I don't think BMT or Tech School set up people enough for Operational Air Force. I have to tell all incoming Airmen that this job or any job in the military is all on YOU.

I spent twelve years in the Air Force 2006-2018 and I don't miss it. It was a beneficial experience in terms of housing, food care, and health care. But the cost is too great, you lose your freedom and it's ugly and you can't do nothing about it either. The politics, rules and regulations of the military are just ridiculous to have that culture govern your life everyday is just crazy, it's just nuts imo. So happy to be free !

I’m in the process of trying to join the Army. My husband is AD and we have 3 kids. I also needed tests to get waivers and the list goes on. It’s a process, which STARTED with speaking to a recruiter. Anyways, I went further and did research on the available jobs.. the length of time for job specific training, AND locations. It’s not all on one website I actually had to go look but I needed the info and found it. You have to take the initiative to find out what specifically applies to you, and your situation. 🤷🏼♀️ If you cant get that far then you don’t want it bad enough to take actual steps to enlist.

Currently in DEP, I can’t agree more. I did so much research, asked my recruiter so many question and waited a few months before setting a date to go to MEPS. Additionally, I don’t think people realize the lifestyle change and physical fitness level expected as a recruit. Being a member of the military requires being physically fit. BMT needs to be taken seriously, what you learn is necessary in the event of deployment into hostile territory. If you are going to join then commit fully.

Thank u for your informative videos which helps me understand this new world that my daughter has stepped into. As a 22-year veteran of the US Army, I understand your frustration with the questions some of your viewers may ask you. I like the way u try to answer them with real honesty & respect. This reflects positively on your character as a person & an airman in my eyes. As an ex-infantryman, I may not know much about make-up tips or the latest fashion designs that young ladies follow these days, but I can honestly tell u that you wear your make-up & hair VERY well! Thank u for your service to our great nation. Keep up the good work that u do in your videos. Stay honest & true when u make them. There are lots of anxious fathers of USAF daughters out there. I don't know if it's just the recruiting station here in my home city in El Paso, TX but it's been very difficult to try and make contact with a recruiter and get things going. I've spoken with the receptionist who asked me the standard questions, told me I needed to lose 5 pounds, and said that no recruiter will speak to me until I do so lol! so that probably is the case since we only have one AF recruiting station here in EP but it sucks because I would like to get things somewhat going to feel even more motivated than I do now but anyways. Just venting. I enjoy your videos and your workout tips have helped a lot! thanks! good luck on your combat photography endeavor. many blessing :)

I didn't have many questions for my recruiter. If you have any during your enlistment process and while your in DEP just text ypur recruiter. And it might just depend on your recruiter about pressuring mine never did. But I hear stories where some have. Hope this gives a little bit of help.
@lesliekim44474 жыл бұрын
Karly B not all recruiters lie but I’ve heard some do. Mine was really good but main thing if you only want a 4yr contract make sure you fight for that and say you’re sure because they’ll try and ask a lot even at meps when you swear in and sign the documents. Also if there’s a specific job you want you can wait for it however long. They might say it isn’t open now but you can suggest to wait for it. Certain jobs like medical might take longer and jobs like security forces will usually always be open. So if you wanna ship put fast again that’s your choice. Research the jobs you want a lot. It’s a long process, I waited a year before shipping out some only waited a month, really depends. And when you do ship put PACK LIGHT! It’s easier on you they’ll make you carry it for a while. For spare clothes I suggest crew neck t shirt no words or pictures on it and jeans. And wear comfy shoes.

Wait after you get your first duty station it's alot easier and it's also a good test to see if they would wait for you

I leave tomorrow. Me and my husband last minute decided to get married before bmt less than two weeks ago. It’s possible to do it before bmt depending on where you live (how long it takes) and if you have the right paperwork. It all comes down to if you’re completely positive that that’s what y’all wanna do. If y’all are completely committed, and have no doubts go for it, paperwork will be easier. But if there’s any doubt then it’s best to wait, you can always get married after/ until y’all are both ready and sure.

People look up to you and everyone starts somewhere. Irritating? Maybe, yeah. Justified 20 minute video complaining, no.

I am a high school student who's looking into joining the military, I don't know if I should try and apply now beeing as I am homeschooled (I loved JROTC which I did before I switched to homeschool due to the fact public schools suck and weren't a good match for me and my education pace) and way ahead of where my class is now and I'm almost a junior (I have like 10 assighnments left in each class and I only have two classes left out of the six i started with) or if I should wait till after I turn 18 (Im turning 16 in two weeks). I know what branch I want to get into but I don't know if I'm doing the right thing. I know you have to be 18 to apply but I just wanted to see how it works in order to get a better understanding.

@Noe I honestly would except recruiters scare the crap out of me, I went with my brother when he went to go to the recruiters office two years ago and I was terrified.

I’m certain I want to join but I wasn’t certain about whether or not my recruiter was telling the truth about the job list etc...which is where I turned to you and others on KZbin to see how the job selection worked... I’m only listing jobs I want and qualified for... period! 😂

Hey, can you do a video on your experience with Tricare? Like how it compares to the average civilian medical insurance in terms of premiums, copays, coverage, provider selection, etc.

I wouldn't want people to join because of weak response to domestic abuse charges.
