He was a very good PG at Atlanta. Solid distributor and defender. Avg shooter, but above avg in everything else.

During the 80's and early 90's when real men were playing and winning, Doc Rivers was just another player, he wasn't a guy you could build a team around... remember, the moved him to the Clippers and then in 1992-93 was moved from the Clippers to Knicks... so Atlanta was done with Rivers after this season. Doc Rivers and Austin Rivers were the same player, the difference is Doc was a harder worker and better defensively during his time but Austin Rivers has more talent and ability.

Doc is a All Star player because of hard work.

@@plainsimple244 facts something this son didn't do and you right he was more talented offensive player but his work ethic suck. Now I don't know where he's at .

@@traviscarter1023 Doc Rivers' son is in Denver and playing well... he's a rotation player and has done a good job because their point guard has been injured.. he's doing okay, just not great but solid enough to be a guy that contributes. I think he came out of college too early and really didn't have a chance to get his feet wet in college, like Zion Williamson and Avery in 1999. A lot of that is ego but I don't doubt the toughness of Austin River, he's just got a bad reputation because his father has connections, but all of those guys who played and made a name for themselves, they would do the same thing(s) if their son(s) were able to play pro ball if they were executives and coaches. As far as a guy working hard, one guy's 10 is another guy's 2 and sometimes a guy is really putting in more effort but he can only go so far because of his limitations. You have to respect guys who just fill their role(s) and do a great job like Robert Horry, Sam Cassell, Vinnie Johnson, Ginobili, Eddie Johnson, John Salley, Horace Grant, and a lot of guys throughout NBA history who get no credit.
