That was WR Pat Bryant lined up as the FB on the OT TD by Illini. OC Barry Lunney called a great game.

Illinois certain is better than the team was last season.They debunk this home field advantage that a lot of the sports commentators talk about.How they play at Penn.State this week-end will show a lot.And how Nebraska play as a team at Purdue will be important to.
@edhorton2766Ай бұрын
@@philspear73 It was a matchup of evenly matched teams. No way should have the Illini been an 8.5 underdog. Nebraska is a good team that's going to win a bunch of games. They have got to clean up the penalties. Nebraska has quality head coaches now in football AND basketball. An Illini fan.

Two DBs took horrendous angles at Illini RB on OT run. Maybe they misjudged a 250 pound RB’s ability to get to top gear.

They missed a field goal that no one is talking about. They win if they make the field goal. Until they fix that they will continue to lose. The program was built this year on chasing 3. They left 3 on the field. That's why they lost. They also quit in the end and Illinois wanted it more at the end.

@@LPH-11stop it. And Illinois had 2 fumbles that resulted in stopped drives and Nebraska scores. And Hank Beatty was on his way to an Illini punt return for 6 but had his own player blocked into him from behind. And the one husker td was made possible when the Illini defender got twisted with the receiver in the end zone and fell down as the ball arrived. He doesn’t fall and that td is likely an incomplete pass or interception based on where the ball was coming and the defenders position. All sorts o shit happens in any game. Stop the woulda, coulda, didn’t game. You lost

No one is talking about the field goal they missed. Chasing 3 is all about 3 points and that's one field goal, my friends. Special teams, field goals, are as much a part of the team as anything else. It's the difference between winning and losing and if they don't fix that they are going to have another season of loses. We held them to 24 and we had a chance of scoring 27. Do the math!

Can any Nebraska fans jsut watch the game and enjoy it for what it was? A great game. This is what happens when delusional Nebraska fans think they are going to dominate every team. It is laudable. They haven't made a 6 win bowl game in almost a decade. They are better than they were before. Take that for what it is. They might make the Pop Tart bowl this year.

How about the Nebraska pass touchdown that was ruled an interception in the end zone? This brings up my question. When the ball penetrates the goal line in the grasp of a running back, it's a TD? Right? So, why did the refs rule the illinois DB intercepted when our WR had possesion when the football crossed the goal line in our WR hands...? And, how can a ball be wrestled from an opposing player when both are down on the ground? Seems like a dead ball and should not be called. What is your take to this question no one has responded. So far! In conclusion. I feel the NCAA refs made another horrible call that affected the game's outcome!! It has been happening far too often over the last few years, Doc!
@Newbcardcollector-sv8wdАй бұрын
that was an obvious interception and they blew the call initially on the field. no controversy at all just a great play by the db

Your WR didn't have possession when the football crossed the goal line and the ball was wrestled from an opposing player before both were on the ground. That's my take.

A receiver must establish possession AND either do 1)a football move or 2)survive a fall to the ground while possessing the ball. He did not take two step or change direction , no football move. He did not have a body part down while surviving contact with the ground before the strip. Had he landed and the ball pop out it due to contact with ground it would have been incomplete. RB are in full possession as they approach goal line and need only have the skin of the football cross the line to consider it a TD.
@joesedditАй бұрын
@@peachyktful Nice explanation of the rules. Thanks. I don't like that they use the term "football move". Gotta do better than that. To me, once you're on the field it's all football moves. You explain what they mean nicely, but I'd rather they just use your explanation instead of a term that has to be defined. Why be cryptic? It's not a Dylan song.
