Leave dollies about 2 inches off the ground sure makes it easier for the next guy.😊 Just saying.
@gregmonhollen43272 ай бұрын
Never crank the dollies all the way to the ground, especially when you got an air valve to drop the airbags you’re making it harder for the next driver to pick that trailer up
@michaelhilley79732 ай бұрын
That is correct. It will cost you one day going over the fifth wheel and hitting your cab if dropped to high
@DrivingSue2 ай бұрын
Try and leave the landing gear about an inch half inch from the ground, let the air out then pull away.
@markcornish63932 ай бұрын
yeah I don't know who teaches drivers this.... you don't need to keep cranking. crank it down until it barely touches the floor and then that's it.
@rossschultz13112 ай бұрын
I see it all the time when picking up a trailer is there a book available trucking for dummies
@dewaynethomas3258Ай бұрын
I’m sure they told him that at truck driving school.
@CountrysLife2 ай бұрын
OK Kevin. When dropping that trailer in the dock and lowering the landing gear, why the hell did you crank it so much!? Just touch the ground or even an inch above the ground then disconnect. I don't understand why you did that? That's a rookie move and you're not a rookie...as you learned connecting to the next trailer when you said "it's seems to high"
@donaldrichard10502 ай бұрын
Hello there! Couple of questions 1) why doesn’t Kevin have a fifth wheel puller? (Hook) 2) why does he drop trailer SO low? I was taught to lower landing legs to roughly 2” above ground then drop air bags to lower legs to ground! Keep good videos recording 👍👍
@texasgilley95332 ай бұрын
FYI Kevin, from an old timer to a rookie we’re dropping a trailer just crank the legs down touching the asphalt. Damn relation airbag. Wait a minute didn’t pull out you’re doing damage to the landing gear and then next SOB, who has to crank it back up. 50 years in the business, I seen it all just trying to give you some friend of Rose

Kenworths dont have a fifth wheel release switch, the freightliners here at crete do.
@markcornish63932 ай бұрын
Take this from a 20 year driver. There's no need to keep cranking once the landing gear touches the ground. Especially these days with lowering air bags suspension. The issue you have is that when the next person goes to hook up to it, it could be too high for them and they'll have to sit there and try to crank down a loaded trailer before hooking up to it.
@brofamchamp43222 ай бұрын
leave the landing gear a couple inches above the ground then drop the bags, making it harder on your fellow drivers to pick that trailer up, and your working harder to crank that shit for no reason
@steveweyers83942 ай бұрын
Why do you crank the dollies down so far? Usually, they are left about 2" from the ground and then drop the air as I'm sure you're aware. Maybe I can learn something here. Thx

My aunt and uncle both drove all over the country. My aunt never had a drivers license which is kinda bad. One time on the road My aunt climbed into the bunk with my uncle driving and as he started to pass another semi, his right front tire blew. It took out the front of his cabover. He got a little hurt but it might of killed my aunt.

Big company like that should have had the shunters put the mt in the dock. P&G locations make u slide ya tandems. It's aggravating because the trailers are so rusty sometimes they won't move. Air sliders always work great.
@DrivingSue2 ай бұрын
@404notfound..... unfortunately, drivers doing more work less money. Sometimes a drop n hook can take 2 hours especially if you have a broker screwing things up

Do Crete trucks not have an in cab kingpin release button?

@TheJoyofTrucking2 ай бұрын
A lot of different stuff. A lot of ‘household’ items. They have the dry van, reefer, and flatbed division. They have customers, not brokers. So freight is very reliable. They also have dedicated accounts with places like Walmart and Costco.

@@janandersson9657 That’s nice that they are helpful! It’s rare here. Even when it’s tight they seem to expect drivers to manage. We call them yard hostlers. Also yard dog or yard goat though some viewers thought us was derogatory when I used yard dog in a video. I didn’t think it was and neither did a lot of other viewers. 🤷♀️ I like ‘tugmaster’ 🥳🇸🇪
