In the spring and fall trout are planted in lakes throughout Washington state and often feed nearshore in the cooler seasons. This is a great time to head down to the dock with spinners, spoons, or jigs to catch some trout. There are many species of trout planted in our lakes including Tiger, Brook, Brown, Rainbow, and Cutthroat Trout.

Fished here over the weekend. Pretty good fishing. Caught smallmouth, cutties and some pikeminnow. Was just floating nymphs about 10ft down. Definitely better in the cooler mornings or overcast. Mid day clear skies was pretty slow. Had a thunderstorm come through and had static shock me from the reel seat.

Like fishin in a barrel. I wish I could have caught trout that easy when I was a kid. Woulda been great. I had to settle for blue gills that were very willing to bite.

One thing that works really well for me in the winter is hanging a trout magnet or any small jig under a slow sink bombarda/float. Something about the slow dead fall..

The Chelan Falls hatchery dumped a bunch of cutthroat at that location in Nov 2020. There were thousands of those fish hiding under the docks for a couple months. It was great fishing.

I was def having fun. Every lake in Kansas has big docks to fish from. Its kind of a rarity in our lakes up here.

Looks like you're a hop, a skip and a jump(and a drive into the mountains) from where I grew up. Though I never did make it to fish in lake Chelan.

Tyler, great video , just wish I could catch like you do. Keep them coming, and with that note how about a video on what settings you use on your fish finder (hummingbird) when kayaking, what you look for, screens you use things like that. What is the secret to Merwin? I've used your two step kokanee formula and I keep getting skunked. My speed is between 0.8 and 1.5 mph, I'm using the exact same setup that you're using but I can't seem to figure out the depth without a downrigger on my kayak.

I like how you pinched the barbs and clipped off the extra hooks. I’m starting to do that, too. I’d rather risk losing a fish than tear it up with a barbed treble, especially if I’m going to release it. Btw, did you actually get a hit on every cast in that spot that day?
