10 years ago, Minecraft cured my arachnophobia through exposure therapy. Today, this one spider farm brought it back. The way they all charge towards the centre reminds me of a swarm of baby spiders hatching from their eggs at the same time.

Idea for anvil trap: You can afk under ground, so the victim have to dig a 1x2 tunnel upwards to get the kill, like you have done to Etho, but about 10 blocks over your afk-spot you have prepared a shaft going up high enough to get a kill, with an observer pointing into the block the victim just mined, sending a signal up to let down an anvil or two on them. You would have to prepare four shafts and anvils, one for each of the sides of your afk-spot, so no matter witch side they choose to mine up, they will find an observer. If you can find a way to move blocks around and lock the victim in place when they mine the block in fornt of one of the observers, that would also help, otherwise Etho could just move to the side if he realize whats happening, and fall down to your afk-spot to avoid the falling anvils. Good luck!

Even better, he (or any of them, also, sorry for giving ideas) could mine a shaft 5-8 above their head (or afk in such a high area), String above the head at 5-8 height and a piston to move the player. And when the anvil drops, trigger the string then the piston and moves the player away last second (sticky piston with block on front, so it can be camouflaged inside the wall)

Doc you should design an anvil trap to hit any players that atempt to anvil you while afk. I have an idea for a simple one. Place yourself at the bottom of a cave. A few blacks above yourself, an observer hooked to an instant vertical redstone machine that drops anvils on the everywhere around you except the place you are sitting. They may be scared by seeing the observer and dig up

using skulk sensors and strategic placement of wool you could drop an anvil only when someone steps on a certain block, or you could do smt like what impulse did on empires and drop a large platform of anvils so for example anyone in a 10x10 area around you would get squished

You could probably build a fake or dummy farm above your AFK platform with a "conveniently" placed hole that is directly above you and trap the blocks where Etho would land to push/drop/dispense an anvil on him as he tries to line up a shot on you. It may mean he gets a kill on you in the process, but you'll have the AFK kill on him so 1000% worth it.

Oh snappers!! For a trap lead Etho through a long tunnel and have the ceiling cave in with anvils. Don't give him back the hoe yet you might need it for bait depends on his loyalty.... clearly he's not seriously dedicated since its diamond. Anyways the trap: 1. dig the tunnel leading to a room with the bait in sight (floor made of honey?) 2. make a false ceiling to be triggered after he takes the bait (sticky pistons?) 3. dig up past the false ceiling to the lol "squash" height then line the anvils (stack 3 anvils because overkill right) 4. add the redstone wiring from the bait room to the false ceiling (sculk sensors??) 5. link the false ceiling and the anvils 6. rename the hoe for his crimes to "SmallEtho" the official lol team name of Smallishbeans and Etho in double life Man, that spider farm looks epic! I guess I should ditch the quad cave spider spawners I've forgotten about for a year for this!! When I saw the golem tower and mud blocks. I instantly thought it would be a slime farm using only the small ones then the reveal I was like "yeah that makes perfect sense"

An idea for saving yourself from anvils, rig a tripwire above you so when an anvil goes through it, an ender pear stasis chamber triggers and moves you away to safety.

for your AFK trap, In a closed in situation you could have an observer observing the block above your just above your head, and have the observer connected to some redstone contraption. Maybe it's connected to an ender pearl chamber teleporting you to safety, then it activates dispensers that launch arrows or harming potions.

Doc could make a redstone thing that makes him move constantly. Best way to not get hit by an anvil is to not be hittable by an anvil. Then when etho tries to turn it off you could have a trap like an explosion

Anvil kill proposal: You go AFK in the middle of some complex machinery. Etho could approach and get the anvil kill, but since he won't want to destroy your machine he'll find only one or two possible locations that work for pillaring up high enough to get you with the anvil. An anvil will be waiting for him above that spot. The exact method of the kill will be a bit tricky, at least by conventional means. One possibility would be that there's some empty space above the level where he'll be dropping his anvil, and once he breaks away that last block so he can pillar high enough, the anvil drops on him. (Suspended on top of a bunch of signs, or released by a piston in response to the block being removed, etc.) The tricky bit is that he could place more scaffolding than he needs, causing the anvil's fall to be stopped above his head. Some well-placed, important looking redstone machinery might help to prevent that. And would it be poor form to use a sculk sensor to detect his position to drop the anvil? Or to detect an anvil placed above your head, and block it or move you out of the way? It'd be funny but it might be the end of anvil-kills on AFK players.

Setup to be invulnerable to falling anvils with no visible parts: Place a candle on a fence. Walk up against the fence, crouch, and look down at the ground two pixels or so away from the base of the fence post. Still crouching, jump and throw an ender pearl at the same moment. You'll clip into the fence post, and your hitbox will stay crouching, even if you release the crouch button, and even though your model will look like you're standing up. Any anvils dropped on you will be stopped by the fence and break on the candle, and you won't be damaged because your hitbox doesn't stick up above the fence's 1.5 block height. You have to be wearing boots, leggings and a chestplate, and properly position and angle yourself, in order to fully conceal the fence, but it's pretty easy to make it completely invisible.

Anvil wars idea: You can hold anvils with pistons and release them with the press of a button? If so, position a line of anvils over a corridor. "AFK" at the end of such corridor with the button hidden behind you. When you see Etho aproach press the button.

You should make a decoy. Build an AFK platform with a hidden chamber. Bring a zombie to your platform, mute the zombie, nickname it Docm77, give it your head and an elytra, and hide in your hidden chamber until someone takes the bait. (You might have to do something to stop the zombie from moving around, or it won't look like it's AFK.) You can use splash potions of invisibility on a timer to stop anyone from seeing your nametag. EDIT: And here's a trap to go with your bait: 1) Build a 20-block thick, hollow ceiling in the shape if a plus above your AFK platform. (After all, you don't want anyone to drop an anvil on you.) 2) Fill the central column of your ceiling with obsidian. 3) Fill the rest of your ceiling with scaffolding. 4) Place an anvil on top of each stack of scaffolding. 5) Complete the ceiling by covering your anvils. When someone tries to pillar up in front of you, the scaffolding will break and (if you're lucky) they'll get an anvil to the head. For a slightly more robust variant, make the first few levels of your ceiling out of cobblestone. It's hard to avoid an anvil when you're stuck in a 1-by-1 hole.

2 ideas for anvil-proofing: 1) if underground deep enough, dig up at double the anvil killing drop height from the point of AFK, then place 4 anvils on top of some sort of remote activation block removal (like piston-ing a sign for a sand fall trap). Next, go down to the initial anvil drop height and replace the block 2 out from the center (afk point) with observers pointing towards the center. Finally, link the observer to the remote activation system and replace all missing blocks between the afk point and the observers at initial anvil falling point in the least suspicious way possible. If all goes according to plan, regardless of which side etho tries to dig upward to prepare his anvil, reaching killing height will instead drop a preprepared anvil on him, instead. The way to counter the system? place the anvil on a block above you but can also be planned around in the setup phase by dropping the counter-anvils earlier than kill height. 2) Engineer a farm who's afk spot is within the farm itself. If you are in the farm, no-one would dare kill you for fear of breaking the farm. Im no expert at redstone, and that is before talking about bedrock vs java, but it looks like you could theoretically replace one of the center iron golems in the spider farm, as long as it does not completely ruin the spawn rates. Even if it does reduce spawns, is that much of a price to be paid to be immune to AFK traps of most/all forms?

Over here, it really just seems like little kids are thrown into a school environment immediately into whatever schedule that school has, and are left alone to get used to it along with the entire class. Anvil war trap idea: build a "Anvil safe" afk point out of multiple layers of Obsidian. But the second outer layer above your head is a observer. So if he try to mine a way to anvil you, the observer detekt it. This detection system is hooked up to an tnt trap. He gets TnTed an you are save in your obsidian cage.

To kill someone trying to anvil you, first consider that we know a couple things with reasonable certainty: (1) they'll be within a couple blocks in x and z of your position when they drop the anvil, and significantly higher in y and (2) they'll make noise detectable by a skulk sensor when placing the anvil and probably other blocks. So if you AFK underground somewhere that has a good height of empty space above you (so they won't mine anything out for a bigger drop height), you could have anvils on all x/z positions within 2 blocks of your AFK spot on something like scaffolding that can be quickly broken on command, conceal this with a retractable or destroyable ceiling between you an your anvils, and have a skulk sensor listen for a player placing blocks near the ceiling set up to trigger the removal of the ceiling and drop the anvils onto them.

Set out a minecart system to move you from multiple afk spots at regular intervals so he'll end up being sent to the wrong location, when he gets to you he'll then realise the issue and follow the tracks. You can spam lingering potions of harming to fill a corridor, maybe with a certain set of paramaters to activate only if they detect a player when the cycle is wrong (IE only let people through in the order you'd travel through them whilst AFK)

I was today years old when I learned that you can actually SEE the difference in height between full and non-full blocks by throwing items on them! That spider farm in action is also the creepiest farm I've ever seen in Minecraft.

For an afk trap: stand in a place where there is only one obvious place to get at you like Etho was when he AFKed. Then make it so that he would have to dig up to get high enough to get you, but have the brick above him boobytrapped to drop an anvil when broken.

Idea for an AFK spot: Have a trench with dispensers at each end wired together on an alternating clock. The dispensers have water buckets in them. This means they alternate water source blocks at each end of the trench. Stand in the trench and the alternating water sources make you move left to right as you are AFK making it look like you are moving. I guess you could even get more elaborate and make a square with 4 dispensers too.

Doc! You probably already know this but you can give momentum to anvils with bubble elevator to reduce the need for vertical space. You put some soul sand, water and the anvil in the water then just remove the water and the soul sand and it can have the maximum speed pretty fast This could be part of a trap design

What you could do for the anvil afk kill, doc, is you can have a collumn of scaffolds above you on all 4 adjacent blocks high enough to hold an anvil to where it could kill etho if he breaks the bottom one. Then, if he does the same thing as you where he digs up to get the anvil height, he'll end up pillaring above the block next to you and break the block supporting the scaffolds which then causes the unsupported anvil to fall and crush him.

Maybe use a skulk sensor hidden below you to remove the blocks around you to drop etho in an obsidian pit and using bubble-vators charge up anvils then drop them on him

Here is an idea: Pretend to be AFK somewhere below the farm, positioned so that Etho needs to stand in the farm in order to Anvil you. Then turn on the farm remotely somehow and watch him get swarmed by spiders.

Ok, doc... easy enough, carpet on signs with anvils (3-5) layers of anvils. Lure to the spot ur at and when u break the block below u it triggers a series of redstone up top to break the base sign thus dropping the anvils everywhere except when u stand. Meaning the whole floor gets covered in anvils... thing of note... make sure the ceiling is dark to and use black carpet with dark oak signs... enjoy...

This would work best in one of your more interior farms. AFK spot in a room with a ceiling high enough to be dark, with some sort of trigger - pressure plate, tripwire, something - that trips a sand-ceiling trap. On top of the sand are anvils. Maybe even line the floor in torches to break the sand and anvils. he walks in to try to plan his route, triggers things, and everywhere but where you are standing afk, sand falls, followed by anvils, from out of the darkness above.

How to lure Etho: AFK inside walls (like etho does when afking next to farms) then he needs to break blocks above you and himself, at a certain point (like 8 blocks above him) make a redstone contraption that detects block breaking and let an anvil fall down on him from high enough

For tricking etho, I say set up a ton of anvils ahead of time, then use pistons to open up and drop them from a fake ceiling. Have a secret red stone signal you can trigger while you’re fake afk when etho comes for you.
