In my mind, this means having a Doom who's on screen presence is 99.99% behind the iconic mask, with his face revealed behind shadow, or perhaps a brief glimpse covered in prosthetic make up (or perhaps with a brief flashback sequence pre-armor). With one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, I'm not yet convinced that Marvel will use RDJ to that end. The character needs to be shrouded in mystery. I guess time will tell...

But once you realize Doom is a heavily disfigured eastern European dictator with no common physical traits with Stark other than a metal mask. RDJ can pull it off and you wouldn't even realize it's him if they hadn't announced it. They announced it because they assumed it would drive up hype, but since marvel viewers can't be satisfied, all it did was make people concerned.

Robert Downey Junior is already an established character within the marvel universe. The reason that no one wants to see him play Dr. Doom or some people have an issue with it is because he’s already a kinda character within the MCU; it’s not that we can’t see him in the role is that he already has a role and paying other actors and saving money. Downey's acting prowess has nothing to do with why this casting concerns me. My concern is the possibility of diminishing a character once again. There is no way RDJ will be masked the entire two films, and to me, that also means there is no way any of the Avengers don't acknowledge his resemblance to Tony, which instantly just makes him a Stark variant in their eyes. Tony wanted to put a “suit of armor around the world.” If Victor is from the same universe as the Fantastic Four, and he just witnessed his planet eaten by Galactus, I can imagine he would want to put a suit of armor around the world as well. Once he gets to our world, his zeal will appear villainous as he attempts to “protect” us from Galactus. This way he becomes a villain whose motives we can get behind. If Victor- in a Machiavellian manner- can end up being successful, it creates an interesting dynamic where some fear him while some revere him. I trust RDJ to straddle that line.

*Theory Here* This is what I think could happen. When Tony meets his dad in endgame that triggers a nexus event. So instead of naming him Tony instead named him Victor.

I still think it would be cool to find out that the Tony Stark we know in our universe was actually a variant of Doom that he placed there to be raised in place of the real Tony from birth. And that variant chose a different path than the normal Doom we know due to his environment and became the Tony Stark we know.

The Imagineerium story makes me imagine an interactive immersive adventure “ride”, something that uses AI to enable interactivity, and a ton of Marvel/Disney CGI magic to pull it together. Imagine putting on some AR goggles, and then walking through the Marvel universe.

I’m having a very hard time not being skeptical of this, it feels corporate and it is. But there are admittedly interesting things you could do with this with the right people. How are Tony and Doom different is a key question, but how they are the same is where you can cook.

I just re-read the books of doom comics yesterday and wow they are one of the best I've read! I really love dr dooms origins. It's one I would recommend to anyone especially those who don't know much about him or have only seen the fantastic four movies.

I honestly think what might have drawn him back to Disney and Marvel, other than money, is everything Disney’s doing with AR, VR, and AI in their parks, it seems like the perfect playground for someone like him who’s all about pushing the boundaries of entertainment. Imagine a Villains World or an evolving Avengers Campus where the attractions actually change in real-time with the MCU’s storyline. That’s exactly the kind of immersive experience I think RDJ would geek out over.

Downey was talking about the Stark Flight lab attraction. There is a photo of Iger and Downey testing the ride vehicle. When Downey was saying “the only way I can give a certain type of entertainment seeking audience (referring to Disney theme park attendees or ride fans) something they have a hankering….etc” he was referring to lending his voice and image to the ride as Tony Stark (which is confirmed) so that’s what he was talking about
