Күн бұрын

I’ve taken a look at disturbing health posts showing up everywhere from KZbin to TikTok, but today I decided to take a look at the source of a lot of the internet’s medical misinformation: Facebook. What I saw drove me up the wall. Quiet a baby by pressing pressure points? Heal muscle soreness by walking barefoot? The dangers of a red tongue?! Don’t believe everything you see in a Facebook video, and definitely don’t share it unless you can verify it’s TRUE!
I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

There's a little truth to the whole parts of the foot correlate with the body thing. My mom wasn't feeling great, but we went out for pedicures. The tech was massaging my moms feet and a specific part kept hurting. The tech asked her if she has gallbladder issues and she said no. She fell ill and went to the hospital. She had gallstones. It was pretty interesting actually

I love that you stated that autism is mostly inherited!!! Parents don't want to know this, they want to blame something else, like vaccines or polution. But I am a functional autistic and I know my father is autistic too, but he will never acknowledge this. My grandfather died when I was in middle school and for what I remember, he could have been autistic too. We have so much similar coping mechanisms. My mother would die of embarrassment if "society knew".

My dad's side is very similar! It's ridiculous how they all insist autism is made up or creates by vaccines or certain chemicals or whatever. We got lucky with my mom. She was originally a preschool teacher and then became a nurse. She read all the books on autism and ADHD and how to raise ND children I. The 90s and 2000s. Hats off to mom for treating us like human beings who deserved her love.

I actually went to school with a guy that was born with only one kidney . He was always pretty healthy and did a lot of sports his dad was actually a athletic coach The strangest thing is on the 1st day of class a brand new teacher looked at him and said you were born with one kidney. And the guy was so surprised like how did you know that. I still don't actually know how the teacher knew that

Schools have to be made aware of medical conditions in case of emergency (like if you're diabetic and you pass out or something) so I would imagine the teacher was probably made aware of any medical conditions in his class. Odd that he would bring it up though lol
@baie_nuuskierig

Super unprofessional. You are told about a learner's health risks to prepare you for certain emergencies that may pop up. Not to put a pupil on the spot. In my country, the law actually states that as a teacher, you are not permitted to share personal information on any pupil of any kind that they did not disclose as public knowledge. Also, @NovaNinja is absolutely correct - we are told about medical issues, ND issues and any possible home issues that would affect a learner's ability to focus and process lessons.

There actually is a study from Germany on the effects of dance training with elderly sedentary people which showed significant improvements in cognitive measurements (and if I remember correctly, memory was one of the subscales affected). Sport has been shown to improve some cognitive function and even lead to neurogenesis in some parts of the brain, but we still don't fully understand the mechanisms behind it.

Fun fact, to stop your baby from crying you can aggressively shake it. This simulates the shaking that would be present when a parent is running away from a predator while holding the baby and your baby will stop crying as a defense mechanism. The dumbest things about the “vaccines cause autism” bs is that autism itself isn’t one thing. There are like a bajillion types of autism, all very different from each other. I forget what it’s called and autocorrect isn’t giving me the right spelling but I have a type of autism that makes me a lot smarter, and I hate people who over-generalize it and just use it to make fear. Great video btw

As a person with high-functioning autism, I’d say it could be argued that the study of autism is in its infancy, to an extent. But yeah, we know vaccines have nothing to do with it. And in my eyes, the autism itself isn’t the problem, it’s the myriad of psychiatric anomalies and tag-along disorders that can come with it. At least they’re easier to live with than measles and mumps…

That isn't really increasing your memory however. As you learn those movements and dance routines they became easier for the same reason doing any complicated task becomes easier over time. @@steamfeuver That's not the point. The point is people are acting like their children will catch autism from something like a flu shot like autism is the disease, not the flu. You can't catch autism, and you especially can't catch it from injections. Hangover cure: drink water during and after partying. No hangover. Easy.
@Alex-bn3ix
@Alex-bn3ix 4 жыл бұрын
There are multiple things you should do, drinking non alcoholic beverages is just one of them. Still, you are probably better off drinking powerade, pedialyte, or some kind of sports drink than regular water. You also probably should eat something if I remember correctly, I actually have a list somewhere back when I drank more frequently and it was all evidenced based from real studies and medical advice from doctors, not facebook bs. I think there's something about having food in your stomach slows the absorption of alcohol compared to drinking on an empty stomach.

From a quick google search it looks like in 2010 there were some 'studies' that seem to be a little hard to track down, and have some strange claims that silicon was discovered to be in high concentrations in beer, more so than other products high in silicon. The conclusion that it's good for bones is like... they jumped from "Silicon is good for bones, it's high in beer, so therefore beer is good for bones." Ignoring all the OTHER effects of alcohol entirely. Seems like recently people are re-discovering this 2010 'trend' and going wild with spreading the FACT that "Beer makes your bones stronger, oh also it improves your heart health and lowers you cholesterol" Should be noted I didn't find ANYTHING about studies toward cholesterol or heart health. Google is NOT a great way to find scientific facts.. but it IS a great way to find a lack of them. If you have trouble googling scientific findings, there's probably a reason.

I was born with only one kidney. I had a sonogram done when i was in my late 20s. Afterwards i was asked if i had a kidney out. I said no. I grew concerned because several doctors were wispering in the corner of the room, while glancing at me. Finally one of the doctors walks over to me, puts a hand on my shoulder and says, "Im sorry to tell you that youll never be able to have children. And I'll have to cut back on my activities.". I laughed in his face and told him i already had two children. And there was no way i could cut back on my activities because i had to keep up with the kids. The kidney i have is larger than usual. But its very healthy. Believe me when i say, i take very good care of it. Fortunately i like drinking water.

Hey Doc, I think the claim about dancing helping with memory is because exercise stimulates the hippocampus, creativeness in dance stimulates other parts, and so on. As I recall, this can help with memory, to a point. I think the goofy video with the baby was showing reflexology/accupressure.

The reason dancing could help with your memory, is because for certain types of dance, you're memorizing combinations that the teacher gives you in class. The combinations can be very complex the more advanced you are. Learning a long combination in a short amount of time can be difficult for a lot of people, and it is a skill has to be learned.

I was looking for this comment. Not only can they be complexed but you learn different combinations all the time. In ballet we had a class called "open class" the teacher would make up the exercises as we went and we'd be shown it once and then have to do it. I imagine that would definitely train your memory

@myclamish
@myclamish 3 жыл бұрын
@@brendanm6921 As much as you might make that sound silly, I find it a bit of a stretch to think that having to memorize stringing together some body postures and movements is going to improve ones memory. Much in the same way just walking is not going to improve your memory. Unless you're specifically talking about memorizing dance, then yes you'll have some more reference points when attempting to recall dance moves. Like maybe I can stretch it a bit to say it'll have a chance to improve your kinesthetic memory at most? Like if I made the claim that learning some of the complex patterns involved in solving a rubrix cube is going to help you be better at remembering dance steps, or remembering where you left the car keys, or increasing the amount of consecutive digits you can remember... I think you'd probably call that into question. Just like "learning complex [dance] patterns" would make you better at memory is somewhat questionable. (And to be clear I'm not saying exercise wouldn't improve your memory or like other biology, I'm not versed in that subject, but that is not specific to dance or the aspect of memorizing steps)
