Hand-washing has saved tens of millions of lives. 160 years ago, Dr Semmelweis started the decrease in the needless slaughter of patients by promoting hand-washing. Unfortunately, this fact took too long to gain prominence. Most of the deaths caused by medical and nursing negligence in the last century and almost all previous deaths under medical care were caused by lapses in hand-washing. Masks are important. Hand-washing is at least as important.

We started crying, group hugging and being absolutely broken … a few hours later, another phone call comes in and they said sorry it was a name mix up between Sandi with an I and Sandy with a Y. I cannot even begin to imagine how APPALLING it must be for Sandy with a Y to get this same phone call but in reverse OMG? I really hope that didn’t happen to her!

True story related to that chlamydia TikTok: I once went to my doctor, and was supposed to drop off my urine sample on the way in,. I forgot, and brought it with me into his office instead. He said it was no problem and I could just give it to them later instead. Five minutes later he looked at his computer screen and said "wait didn't you say you still had that sample?" and looked over at me, still holding it. "because I just received the results from it" *awkward silence* "Excuse me, I just have to go yell at someone."

She had a date come over to her house prior to her appt at the clinic and she forgot about her poop sample in the fridge lmao she said she heard him open the fridge.... close it... then heard him promptly walk out the door lmao I love that story

My roommate and I have the same first name, born in the year, obviously same address, we worked at the same business and had the same pcp. This lead to a nurse calling me and congratulating me on my pregnancy test being positive. Only problem was that it was my roommate that went to the doctor to get her home pregnancy test confirmed. 😂 The nurse was so horrified. But it was ok because I was already aware she was hoping it was positive. And I was the one that told her to take the home pregnancy test in the first place. So neither one of us was upset with the nurse. And she learned to always verify the last name.

My grandfather passed from melanoma. Started off in his face and transferred to his jaw bones, destroyed those and he ended up starving himself instead of accepting an IV for nutrients, because he couldn’t open his mouth anymore. We kept him hydrated with cotton balls dipped in water or milk until he passed. I miss him so much. Sunscreen is so important.
@jamallabarge26653 жыл бұрын
Melanoma is a miserable way to die. John von Neumann passed from it. He created a lot of the bases for modern technology we enjoy today. Computer tech, nuclear weapons and so on. Towards the end he had to ride a wheel chair because the cancer ate at him. I wish that Melanoma was more treatable. We need all of the good people we can get.
@SandraNLN2 жыл бұрын
@@jamallabarge2665 Not sure I would list the guy who made Nukes as a good person, paragon of humanity. Also, not sure you can say we "enjoy" the technology of nukes. I'm not saying someone else wouldn't have made it eventually, but it's a good thing you listed the 'computer tech' part of his accomplishments first... But better yet, since you're bringing him up, why not give examples of all his accomplishments: The creation of economic game theory. His contribution to physics with developing understanding of quantum mechanics as well as the density matrix and Von Neumann entropy, or to understanding fluid dynamics. Or the dozens of mathematical theorems and formulae he developed. He was a mathematical wizard. If anything, the Manhattan Project is a stain on his work. ALSO, i'm pretty sure von Neumann died of cancer that was caused from radiation, most likely from the plutonium he was working with. Not melanoma. *don't spread easily-disproved misinformation*

But he doesn’t seem to understand WHY he’s tanning and he won’t go to the dermatologist.
