6:54 I love how he questions the Juvenile Diabetes but not the Hysterical Pregnancy
@PanthereaLeonis2 жыл бұрын
I mean, I think the only pregnancy you can have if you don't have a uterus or ovaries, is a hysterical one. Which is kinda funny, since "hysteria" is a condition originally thought to be caused by the uterus swimming aroudn the body to places it doesn't belong, so going too etymological on this means a hysterical pregnancy should be a perfectly normal pregnancy with baby in uterus.

That’s so true! I understood a lot as a child and absolutely resented being treated that way as a kid, I’ve never missed being a child tbh! That’s likely a huge part of why. I’ve also worked with kids in my career a lot & I mainly speak to them like equals which has only benefited my relationships with then. Children are smart, more so than adults in almost every area aside from wisdom. They deserve a lot more respect than we give them sometimes.

An issue I've encountered a few times upon seeing a new doctor is they start "casually" asking questions without stating their purpose. During the questioning they ask how my father and/or mother is doing, and so on and so forth. When they then respond to one of my answers about my parents by shifting the line of their conversation I'll realize that they're attempting to get a family medical history, upon which I'll tell them to stop since I'm adopted.

I bought her a copy of Grey's Anatomy (the medical book, not the TV show) and she has read more than half since March. She's a obessive reader. She enjoys the way you teach people basic medicine in a fun and constructive way. Because she's housebound most of the time you have brought her a lot of joy so I just wanted to thank you Dr.Mike...and let you know that you are making a huge difference in the lives of chronically ill people, including myself. I googled it. Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) is a rare, serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes. It's usually a reaction to medication that starts with flu-like symptoms, followed by a painful rash that spreads and blisters. Then the top layer of affected skin dies, sheds, and begins to heal after several days.

The trick is to be decently accurate without going overboard on technicalities.)

I admire you and all other doctors that try to reason with or calm down a patient before an injection. Once, during one of my ‘mandatory vacations’ at the psych ward, they told me they were going to put me on some sort of drip because I wasn’t eating. I told them that I hated needles, so guess what they did? Got some more nurses to hold me down. And here I was thinking psych wards were supposed to help your mental health. I couldn’t so much as sew with needles for ages after that, because I hang on to trauma like it’s a life buoy in the ocean.

@Mordecrox8 ай бұрын
Always thought this was terrible on the doctor until I saw a very edge case of a kid who... Ate significant amounts of... Biohazard. So they had to take lots of shots, take lots of samples, and being ultra non-cooperative, struggled to take shots that would calm them down, all while having an extremely rapidly worsening condition that for some reason didn't paralyzed their voice and muscles yet. So wonder how much was just the medic being insensitive and much of it being an edge case like this.
