Home Alone Injury Review: • Doctor Reacts To Home ...
The Simpsons is one of the longest-running shows in the history of television, and with characters like Dr. Hibbert and Dr. Nick, they’ve had no shortage of health-related episodes and scenes. Today I dove deep into some of the funniest and most curious medical moments in the history of the Simpsons, such as Homer’s body fat test, Bart visiting an HMO, and Mr. Burns somehow having every disease known to man. Watch to the end to see what The Simpsons got right, and what they got wrong.
I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

I always loved the scene where they have Homer in a tank to measure his body fat, and it registers more than 100 percent, then they pan over to show him eating a bag of pork rinds and the doctor berates him for eating in the tank.

I googled it. Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) is a rare, serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes. It's usually a reaction to medication that starts with flu-like symptoms, followed by a painful rash that spreads and blisters. Then the top layer of affected skin dies, sheds, and begins to heal after several days.

My daughter watches your channell all the time. She has a great interest in medicine...largely due to the fact that she suffers from PPMS as well as other medical issues. I bought her a copy of Grey's Anatomy (the medical book, not the TV show) and she has read more than half since March. She's a obessive reader. She enjoys the way you teach people basic medicine in a fun and constructive way. Because she's housebound most of the time you have brought her a lot of joy so I just wanted to thank you Dr.Mike...and let you know that you are making a huge difference in the lives of chronically ill people, including myself. So God Bless and keep doing what you're doing. There is always room for new knowledge. 😁👏🙏

That’s so true! I understood a lot as a child and absolutely resented being treated that way as a kid, I’ve never missed being a child tbh! That’s likely a huge part of why. I’ve also worked with kids in my career a lot & I mainly speak to them like equals which has only benefited my relationships with then. Children are smart, more so than adults in almost every area aside from wisdom. They deserve a lot more respect than we give them sometimes.

I admire you and all other doctors that try to reason with or calm down a patient before an injection. Once, during one of my ‘mandatory vacations’ at the psych ward, they told me they were going to put me on some sort of drip because I wasn’t eating. I told them that I hated needles, so guess what they did? Got some more nurses to hold me down. And here I was thinking psych wards were supposed to help your mental health. I couldn’t so much as sew with needles for ages after that, because I hang on to trauma like it’s a life buoy in the ocean.

@PanthereaLeonis
@PanthereaLeonis Жыл бұрын
I mean, I think the only pregnancy you can have if you don't have a uterus or ovaries, is a hysterical one. Which is kinda funny, since "hysteria" is a condition originally thought to be caused by the uterus swimming aroudn the body to places it doesn't belong, so going too etymological on this means a hysterical pregnancy should be a perfectly normal pregnancy with baby in uterus.

An issue I've encountered a few times upon seeing a new doctor is they start "casually" asking questions without stating their purpose. During the questioning they ask how my father and/or mother is doing, and so on and so forth. When they then respond to one of my answers about my parents by shifting the line of their conversation I'll realize that they're attempting to get a family medical history, upon which I'll tell them to stop since I'm adopted.

What you said about x-rays reminds me of one of the many studies conducted on Ötzi the ice man: how initial x-rays and CAT scans meant to study the condition of his internal organs would reveal an arrowhead in his left shoulder. Alright Doc this got my sub. Serious medical analysis of the Simpsons🤣🤣. I used to be an EMT. ER was an alleged serious medical drama. In one episode a doc is doing an ambulance ride along. In a thunderstorm. They roll up on an MVA. They do rescue and triage. So far all good. Then one Vic is in arrest. So there, on the street in a THUNDERSTORM doc orders cardioversion🥴🤣⚡️⚡️. Congratulations doc ya just barbecued EVERYONE on that scene. Last time I watched ER unless I was going for laughs🤣🤣

And then once we finished those and established that my four-year-old brain didn’t like Chaucer’s poetry, we moved on to Google. I remember thinking that was the coolest thing ever. Going back and reading up on it, I can confirm that it is still absolutely fascinating.
