My theory is that Strange now is essentially the Darkhold. Seems that most folks forgot that he has a photographic memory. Dr. Stephen Strange : I've got a photographic memory. It's how I got my M.D and P.H.D at the same time. So even though Wanda destroyed the Darkhold in all universes he still retains the pages he viewed.

America Chavez ability is still pretty unique. Clea wasn't opening a portal to another universe, but to a dimension. The two are separate things. Dimensions existed before the multiversal split (Feige confirmed that was in Loki) which means the dark dimension is still a construct of the 616 universe

Surely if the dimensions existed before the multiverse split it means dimensions are not a construct of the 616 universe but things which exist outside and independent of the multiverse. The dark dimension of every universe is the same one.

Yes Clea can open portals to other dimensions, but only dimensions in the same universe. The illuminati universe would have it's own dark dimension.

The Book of Vishanti DID let Strange know what had to be done to stop the Scarlet Witch. The page he saw before it was destroyed had a star on it. That's how he knew America Chavez can control her powers and had to be the one to "stop" Wanda. Since in the real world a third eye represents enlightenment and increased psychic powers I'm hoping it's a good thing. The Ancient One even references it. Perhaps Sinister Strange obtained the third eye before becoming corrupted? It's hard telling which way Marvel will take it. He seemed pretty chill about it at the end.

They could've still done something like that. Sinister Strange had the motivation to force some sort of multiverse crisis in No Way Home to attempt to find a Christine he could be happy with. If you recall, when Dr. Strange first visited the Sourcerer Supreme, she placed her thumb right over where the 3rd eye is and says "open your eye...". She didn't say 'open your eyes'. I think she knew about the third eye from the moment she met Strange since she appeared to know everything about him from the moment that they met

Nah, all sorcerers have their third eye open. Ancient one couldn’t see past her death, but she knew he’d be a great sorcerer because he was there at the end. Plus the eye came from the dark hold. I’m sure he’ll be more powerful, but there was probably a cost

the third eye is a construct/theory of religions of the east (buddism, hinduism etc.) and every single person has it. also western religions refer to a third eye (but in way smaller quantities). there are also holy men in india which drill a whole in their head to trigger the holy eye. actually it is quite interesting but im too lazy to dive in more, just notice that the comics refer here to an existing phenomena

There are several dimensions within a universe, but those are not separate universes (which dimensions were well established in Agents of SHIELD and well). For example treat the universe as a seven layer dip with each dimension as a different layer. Clea is able to move between the layers while America Chavez is able to move to a new pan.

When he open the Eye it looks as if red chaos magic Emirates from the artifact, leading me and many others to believe that he is now housing chaos magic inside of the eye.

I've been saying this for weeks now but Strange has a photographic memory. It's how he got so good at magic to begin with. We know that Sinister Strange gained his third eye due to his corruption by the Darkhold. And 616 Strange read through parts of it to find the Dreamwalking spell. Due to his photographic memory, he permanently retained the information he gained from the Darkhold within his mind. Though the physical copies throughout the multiverse were destroyed by Wanda, a piece of the book still exists in Strange’s mind and is slowly corrupting him, thus explaining his third eye.

I actually think Strange threw off the corruption of the Darkhold. He's shown overwhelming the demons sent to punish him for dreamwalking his corpse. What I do wonder about though... is Strange was being bodied, both in the corpse body and his own, by the demons, yet summons the strength to overcome them. Summons what strength though. That answer I believe is why his use of the Darkhold will not corrupt him. Having just read the book of Vishanti, at least in part, may have awoken them (the Vishanti). Then the book gets destroyed. I believe that when that happened, a part of the book's essence indwelt Strange. Then, as Strange is dreamwalking and being overwhelmed, he gathers the strength to overcome the demons and that power comes from the Vishanti. I believe it may be shielding him from the negative effects of the Darkhold, especially given the Vishanti probably divined that Strange's use of the the Darkhold was not self-serving, it was to protect another.

When I first saw the 3rd eye open at the end, I assumed it was the evil Dr. Strange dream walking into the good version and my reasons are as follows. 1. After evil strange is impaled, we see the 3rd eye open, a classic indicator in horror movies that someone is still alive and since Sam Raimi is most known as a horror director, I think this was his intention. 2. The screams of pain that happen to Dr. Strange just before the eye opens are exactly the same thing we see happen to the good version of Wanda who gets her mind taken over. 3. We already know that evil Dr. Strange is adept at dream walking and would have a personal vendetta against our Dr. Strange. 4. By this being a dream walk, it would explain how he instantly has knowledge of how to use the evil eye. In conclusion, all the evidence points to this not being the toll of the evil book but the result of an alternate version coming to get revenge. (PS. there is a good chance evil Dr. Strange has a lot of experience with the dark dimension.)

@@starsilverinfinity Well, him not having much going on only to be expanded in the sequel is a classic marvel thing and the random eye opening at the end is a classic staple of horror movies to show the villain is still alive (I only think that last part is relevant cause Sam Raimi is the director and he clearly wanted this to be like a horror movie) also, I just think this being the cause of the book is boring, I know Sam Raimi has done evil book possession before but its over used and I want to see something else, I think the possession would be it (that's all personal opinion though)

btw about the book, they made such a huge deal about how it would give you whatever power you needed to vanquish your enemy, but that was also kind of how they descrived americas power in the end, that she sent them wherever they needed to go. Wanda also made a point about that if there ever was a problem then you could just travel the multiverse to find a solution. Sounds kind of like America is the true book of vishanti, kind of how the true darkhold was a place and not the copied book

Dimensions ≠ universes. Dimensions are layers of perception. The dark dimension we see in Dr strange is part of that universe. Same with the mirror dumension. Sometimes characters might use the words interchangeably (like in into the spiderverse) but this is not accurate and gives a false impression on how they things work. Because while a multiverse holds universes, a universe holds Dimensions. So being able to travel between Dimensions isn't as impressive.

Meaning there's no TVA doing anything and Strange Supreme's (yep, that's his official name) timeline was doomed when he couldn't learn to let Christine go.

After they fracture the timelines, the last scene of "Loki" is inside an Alternate TVA (or maybe a different branch of the same TVA? they don't clarify before the season ended). Yes, the Sacred Timeline was fractured, ut the existence of the TVA in the very last scene suggests that either a variant TVA somehow emerged to replace the original (possibly one that doesn't care about the Sacred Timeline, but that is pure speculation as we haven't been told anything about the new TVA), or that the TVA managed to contain the fractures and preserve the Sacred Timeline.

I have a confusion, can anyone clarify- So, in Spider Man No Way Home, we see Ned using Dr Strange's Sling Ring to call Peter Parker (Tom) but instead it opens a portal and gives us two other versions of Peter (Tobey and Andrew), clearly from another dimension/universe. Why can't Dr Strange use it or do the same in Multiverse of Madness?? Seems a little bit confusing... Can the ring open up other universes or not?

The two Peter Parker's that Ned portaled through were not portaled from another universe. Tobey and Andrew were already in this universe, and they came earlier from Doctor Strange's spell along with the other villians. They were just wondering around New York until Ned portaled them through. And this is supported from when Tobey see's Andrew and goes..."That's not your friend..", because Tobey did research on this universe and looked up MJ, Ned and Tom, and immediately didn't recognize Andrew.

It can. But while Wanda is attacking Kamar Taj, one of the first things that happens is she destroy's Strange's ring as he's trying to portal them out. It happens after he traps her in the Mirror Dimension. So for the rest of the movie, is unable to portal anywhere because he has no sling ring.

I just figured Sinister Strange's eye was a reference to his What If counterpart (similar to Captain Carter's appearance), Supreme/Sinister Strange had to open all those portals to absorb all that power to attempt to break a time-locked event (Christine's death), hence the third eye (as well as tentacles, wings, and ghastly appearance, etc), tho DS: MoM only shows the third eye and the longer beard

Solid video, but one thing you forgot to mention explicitly is that Clea becomes Strange's wife in the comic books. So I'm hoping Dr. Strange 3 will be an adventurous romcom featuring witty exchanges and lovers' quarrels but with magic in a tonally similar vein to The Mummy (1999). Especially since Strange won't have to worry as much about Clea's safety because she can definitely hold her own in that playing field.

The Darkhold has a chapter about the Scarlet Witch, but that's only a fraction of the power it contains. Wanda isn't the living manifestation of the Darhold; the Darkhold is her Grimoire, or spellbook. The Darkhold "belongs to" the Scarlet Witch wherever she manifests in the multiverse, and she is destined to weild it's power, but that power still comes from the Darkhold, not Wanda herself.

For all the fanciful magic in Dr. Strange, I find it interesting that something from the real world featured so heavily, and that's dreamwalking. You can't actually kill anyone with it, but it's basically lucid dreaming inside someone else's subconscious. A similarly fanciful version of this has been featured in films like Dreamscape and Inception.

The Dark Dimension is a Dimension other than what Strange is in, but it's not necessarily an entirely different universe, otherwise the Time Stone would not have had it's Time manipulation powers there. So it technically would have to still be part of the same Universe Strange is from, just a different dimension. So like a different room, within the same house? The Universe hoping uniqueness of America's powers is definitely in question though, if you consider the "Alternate Timelines" that the TVA travel to as alternate Universes, and not just alternate timelines within the same universe. Or, the situation with Spider-man's last movie where the spell was able to move people from other universes into the current universe... or Spider-man: Into the Spiderverse... These clearly show that traveling across Universes are not as "impossible" as they make it seem in this movie.

The point about time stone is kind of wrong since Strange used it on himself, not on this dimension itself (just like Ultron in what if). Dormammu is said to exists out of time, thats why time stone dont work on him. But still he exist in probably the same universe as Strange, just different dimension

My theory is that the third eye comes with the dark hold as in it unlocks a sort of new power. Depending on the intentions that people have when using it. so to some dr. stranges it could be bad and in others it could be good.

Personally my biggest question about the third eye was whether it was a left or a right eye. Obviously people don’t have a middle eye, all eyeballs themselves are the same but the eyelids are always one of two things since they only have a tear dot on one side. So every time that third eye showed up, all I could think about was whether the extra eye was a left or right one. And it definitely is one of the two because they have CGIed an eye on there so obviously they must have chosen to use either the left or the right eye and then tried to make it look like it was in fact neither.

As far as I can tell they seemed to have mirrored it so it's perfectly centered instead of being either left or right while being on the forehead.

@@sion8 Yes, I couldn’t quite tell either if there was a direction of the eye, they had definitely removed the tear dot and edges of the eye to make it more neutral, though at some parts I thought the shape leaned more to being a left eye although it was hard to tell from the cinema.
