I think the point is more that in different situations, we act differently. That's why those type of questions asked in these tests don't even make sense. Maybe he doesn't care what people think, like for example, what his bosses have thought of him, but with his father it is different. Personalities are not quantifiable.

Keep in mind it's different stage of his life. He may worry about his father in school, but not very much as professional.
@vixxcelacea2778 Жыл бұрын
It's actually not contradictory. Worry about disappointing someone who finds you to be a figure they look up to isn't the same as worrying about disappointing a figure you look up to. The position of relative power is reversed. He's not concerned with disappointing others who see him as an inspiration, meaning he knows he has faults and probably shouldn't be on a pedestal, but he doesn't want to disappoint his father, either because of evolutionary drive to find approval in our care takers or because he admires his father and wants him to be proud, or both.

I'm INFP, mediator. And I think it suits me quite well. I find it funny that you say you're uncomfortable in social events, but at the same time you joke around with people and insert yourself when you understood the dynamics. I'm pretty much on the introvert side of things. I put myself in a corner, watch people and wonder how they can manage to talk to other and make social situations seem so easy. The only times I'm in a corner with max one person with me is if a group of people I know and feel safe with are there. And even then, I'd most likely be on the quiet side (although, maybe this weekend will be ok as friends from Sweden will be there and I'm less shy speaking English than I am using french (mother language) or german) It's also weird to hear you say you're not organized,... Even Dr. Mike brought up “High School” (which I understood why he had but the answers and results are meant to focus on the present). One last thing, people can answer on how they see the world not necessarily how they think and behave. For example I’m an ENTP, however through my job I now can empathize a lot more others emotional responses. If I answer the questions to the MBTI now, it would put me as an ENFP; but I’m realistically an ENTP who has just matured and can appreciate how “feelings” can be just as important as logic.

Hey Dr Mike, I appreciate this video a lot and it’s very entertaining but I wanted to point out a few mis truths about MBTI: - Myers and Briggs took Carl Jung’s original personality theory and dumbed it down into these binary distinctions. Which is a shame and a contributing factor why it’s not taken seriously by the field of psychology. If you go one level deeper with the original theory you’ll realize it’s actually a lot more complicated and it doesn’t just boil down to whether you’re an introvert or extrovert (as an example). He based his theory on eight different cognitive functions; each type lists the functions in a different order and your top four are what determines your cognitive and decision-making preferences. - Speaking of which: all this theory does really is describe how you think and how you make decisions. Any behaviour or trait or tendency that is associated with a type is a stereotype, generalization, or pattern observed in people with that particular type, but it does not mean it’s true of everyone. - the tests are notoriously inaccurate because determining your real type is actually very difficult and people don’t have enough self awareness or understanding of the way the questions are being asked to answer them correctly. You should answer this thinking about what comes you naturally, not what your life circumstances have necessitated. For example, in an early question about emotional support vs problem solving you said you naturally go for the former but as a doctor you need to do the latter and so you chose the latter. This is not the right approach to assessing your personality type. - It’s pretty obvious based on everything you’ve said in this video you’re not an ESFJ but an ENFP. Halfway through the video I knew based on what you were saying you would probably mistype on the test. Read the description for that one and let me know if that doesn’t fit you better!

I feel that part of the issue with these results (besides possibly being inaccurate) is that you sometimes pick the choice you wanted rather than the choice you actually fit. For example, you said you wish people would use their cognitive thinking/logic rather than their emotions to make decisions. You then qualified your answer by saying as a physician you understand why patients would be emotional. That’s clearly you trying to be understanding but undermining your own personality. Which I guess goes to show, just because you “fit” a certain personality archetype doesn’t mean you are limited to conducted yourself within it. Regardless, I actually do think the descriptions don’t really fit you (not that I know you or anything.)

But this is the case with several questions. I think Dr. Mike answered some things not really how the questions was asked. Literally after putting down an answer, qualifying the answer and thus making the general "agree/disagree" less logical. Do you care about humans? "Yes about the ones that are close to my heart"; that was not the question though. Anyway, I think the test results reflect the way he answered them. He basically answered like a very positive party animal lol How he would be always where the action is (but be tired , but not tired enough to weigh DOWN the answer ;) )

The tests are often wrong, but the mbti theory is right it is much deeper than four letters, it is about cognitive functions and your preferences it is not black or white at all, the benefits of mbti is understaing yourself and other people not putting youself in a box or something, i think the misunderstang of mbti and creating stereotypes of every type is the big reason why most people don't believe in it. Fast note: the cognitive functions of ESFJ: - Fe Si Ne Ti

I like to use the types as a way to compare how different people view the world, and as a way to introspect and really evaluate my own self. Personality tests shouldn’t put you in a box, they should allow you to better understand how people are different and try to figure out how to work with those differences instead of shutting them down in yourself and others. I really like the 16 personalities test, but I think it’s important to remember that it’s not strictly based on meyers briggs, even though they use those letters, and if it seems off to actually look into the typing and choose the one that’s closer to you (yes Dr. Mike, that IS actually how it works!). My type tends to come out more or less the same no matter what test I take or how many times I take it, so I think it helps if you really know yourself to begin with. Sincerely, INTP (-A, for the 16p folks 😉)

mbti denier because assuming labeling black white while actually 16 personality can slightly chaged based on how strong the environment influence, mbti deniers is as stupid as neoliberal denying any benefit of socialism

LMAOOO I did this test and got Mediator. Then years after enter collage, I did again and got Artist, and is funny because in High School I was really a shy, insecure and more of a kind person, but after enter ART collage, I became more talkative, artsy obviously, and a little more confident. My results were pretty close both times, so is funny how you got one so far from you hahaha. I think the test got confused between the 'Most Handsome Doctor on Social Media' and 'Passionate Doctor and Scientist Dr. Mike' sides of you LOL. I like this test because as sooo many types, is not enough because like you said, humans are complicate, but is one of the best to me.

I'm also a mediator, but sometimes with these tests my answers change depending on my mood. That's kind of the problem with self-reporting these sorts of things.

i take the test usually every year maybe to see if anything has changed. i used to be a mediator a couple of years ago, but now, i'm a logician. i think they were really accurate for me though!

I was worried Mike wouldn’t discuss the inaccuracies and oversimplifications of personality tests. In my opinion, it is similar to the ‘essential oil’ debate: Yes, it can be pleasant and enjoyable, but no, it will not determine your life or change much of anything.

I agree with Dr. Mike when it comes to the 16 personality test. It isn't accurate enough because it doesn't focus on cognitive functions at all. There is a different test much more accurate and complex on sakinorva. Personally, I've been a huge fan of MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) because of how accurately they explain behavior of each type depending on the functions and their order. I really recommend trying the deeper version - the results can still change depending on your mood or mental state but once you learn the basics about the cognitive functions you'll get the idea of what's specific about each type and you'll find out what fits you the best.

I also depends on your country. In Belgium you have 7 basic years, and then 3 or more to specialise. A lot of it is also getting to know the field. It is impossible here to be a doctor at 24. You do get payed for some part of you traineeships.

These tests are funny. I actually made the test 5 times over the course of 5 months and I always get the INFP type and bizarrely enough it is a lot like me! The aries in me was very impatient with the waiting and was hoping to disprove the tests but it turned out that for me personally, it is scarily accurate!
