My experience with racism started in primary school (year 5) when my teacher used to make me sit on the floor whilst everyone else sat in chairs and never used to answer my questions when I put my hand up (I used to have to whisper my questions to my white friends and have them ask the questions for me) but it made me develop thicker skin and realise people in authority aren’t always right 🤷🏾‍♀️

So for the last week I am almost caught up to date with your videos and I shared your channel with my family and friends. I have had acne since I was 13 I am 41 now. Have I experienced racism… 🥴I live in the USA. With that being said I’ve personally had very few experiences with racism from those from European descent vs more bad experiences with colorism from other skin of color members including those that identify with Caucasian skin tone. I grew up in a multicultural environment which led me to studying other cultures and so, I carry a global flag in my heart for all races ethnicities and colors. Everything I do is centered around that. ☺️ My parents were also strict. Lol I’m thankful for that as an adult.

I am the first line of immigrants, so me and my husband came from Portugal being by then only boyfriend and girlfriend, after both of us had our degree in Engineering (I am chemical engineer and he is a telecommunications engineer) and after spending all our money on our superior education and finding financial struggle as in our country we have never been paid according to our responsibilities and so we got out of our confort zone and grab our things, our cat our pots and pans and off we went to UK. Now we are financially stable and we have two amazing girls (7 and 3 years old) and even we can give them much more than what we got with their age we want them to fight for their goals but university is definitely a must be... as someone said earlier "doctor, engineer or disappointment" ahahhaha But they will have our financial support as this is what we came for. To provide the possibility of giving them lots of paths that they can choose from so they can frow as a strong and independent ladies. So I get you (and your parents)... Hello Dr v I just ordered your pigmentation for the face kit I've had melasma and I did try hydroquinone it did work but as soon as I stopped using it it all came back more fierce than what I had. Have you noticed the recent trend there is of people calling out people with skin of colour for using skin bleaching products, suggesting that they do not like their own colour or are racist in some form? I myself might be guilty of that in the past, but then with all your education I’ve realized that it is exactly because we have skin of colour that we are vulnerable to semi/ permanent scarring and blemishes . It is just such an ironic situation.

I’m asian and also a doctor, and in my family who are also doctors my brother decided to go into business, my parents depended on me to continue the medical legacy. I grew up in Ireland which was super racist, but moved to the UK after med school and haven’t experienced any racism or issues here, and have not found my race hindered me here. It did however in Ireland, my brother had to change his name to an English name to get a job there because it’s so racist. He wasn’t getting interviews at all with an asian name but he changed it, he got loads despite the CV being the same. Glad to be in the UK and not Ireland.
