Dr. V, I found your channel 3 yrs ago while attending esthetics school. Starting with your knowledge in mind, it was evident skin of color care was never a subject studied. I've learned sooo much and of course have your BOOK! I realized our skin of color is open market and something I must also specialize in. The old brands that have "stood" the test of time may have to reformulate or move aside for the new and improved smaller brands breaking in. Unfortunately, these major brands in department stores are run by sales people who have experience in sales (older folks) and spill off the label info to make a sale. I do not see estheticians in this field but recently the demand is barely increasing to add estheticians. Have to admit working for a brand, they push for sales rather than actual skin care. That backfired quick after I was pushed to follow the sales executive directive and irritated a customers skin. I felt horrible.😢 These major brands are struggling to sales since many young sales people (misinformed) in skincare have entered the field. Yes, they may have the chatter attitude to sale but not the required education for skin care. Thank you Dr. V

Yes! but the comedogenic ingredient is after Phenoxyethanol, which means it’s at less than 1% which is why it’s not problematic and that ingredient usually breaks me out, but everyone won’t experience that. I think the Cerave retinol is amazing for acne! 10/10

Best retinol recommended by Dr. V (Summary of the video) Rentinol 0.6% best +ceramides +humectants 1.nafesafe 2.Airlesspump 3. retinal aldehyde Inkeylist for beginners (notairlesspumpu) The ordinary retinaldehyde Versed retinol Roc capsules Biossance retinol beginner & expensive
@romyxx713 ай бұрын
Dear, I mean no disrespect as you mean well, but she gives several pieces of advice and your summary makes no sense. Augustus' insanely expensive Retinol 0.6% also contains two (2) comedogenic ingredients that she points out and would never advise anyone to use because they sensitise the skin. The Inkeylist is not in an airless pump, which means the retinol will oxidise. Unless your budget cannot stretch to buy one of the alternatives she mentions that is in an airless pump, then you could buy this to try. But even at that low price, it is a waste of your money. My advice would be to use the Ordinary in the airless pump at 0.2% and dilute it with moisturiser (1x pea size The Ordinary retinaldehyde and 2x pea size moisturiser). Also, use the sandwich method to avoid irritation by applying the moisturiser first, then the diluted 0.2% Ordinary and seal by applying Vaseline or castor oil (my favourite). Increase the amount of moisturiser you dilute the retinaldehyde with, if at 2x pea sizes it irritates your skin. In the end, her advice is: Beginners: ROC capsules, Versed, Kiehl's 0.1% (expensive). Intermediate: Biossance 0.05% retinol + 0.05% bakuchiol (expensive). Advance: The Ordinary airless pump 0.2%, Ary Fab Skin Lab both 0.25% and 0.3% and Paula's Choice 0.3%.

Hello can you please clearify your statement please? The cerave resurfacing one doesn't have denatured a*lchohol. I have checked the ingredients and also googled it for Reassurance. It has Cetearyl a*lcohol which is a fatty a*lcohol, which is very different from the drying, irritating types of a*lcohol (like denatured al*cohol or ethanol). Fatty a*lcohols are often used in skincare products as emollients, thickeners, and stabilizers.
