I get it, but you are not 12. And this is 2024. You either watch this live or you get out of the internet. You cant have it both ways. Thats just how it is. It is not fair, but neither is reality. And thats part of being an adult. You have to face reality. You want to watch this on monday and have a look on the internet... That´s on you. And only you. And it does help telling you because maybe, just maybe, if at your age and with the experience with the internet that you should have, you still got to this point, then perhaps you just need people to spell this thing out for you. You fuck up, you dont dont get to get frustrated. You assume the responasbility for your fuck up, tell people that you fucked up, and move on. And perhaps you learn something for next time. Best cliffhanger in quite a while, I was giddy! All the drama , camera spinning round Ruby in the snow as The Voice bellowed out, chills! It started to dawn on me when I first heard The Voice , and musical cues that reminded me of The Satan Pits soundtrack . But I didn't think it would literally be Sutekh him/themselves , now with a Jackel head that does a bit more than wobble , which is good. , even tho I prefer the masked up version , maybe that wouldn't have been shocking enough in the moment.

The thing about Sutekh is that if it had a brand new God-like being, there wouldn't be this concern about what modern fans would think. In all probability, 98% of those watching would just presume he's a villain that the Doctor knows, without really caring if and when their paths have crossed previously. Obviously, come Friday night/Saturday morning, we'll have the bigger picture, but I wouldn't worry too much about the non-die hard fans' reactions. Saying that, in the UK at least, a Tales of the TARDIS is being released which contextualises Sutekh, so those interested will be able to catch up without any bother.

They did the same thing in Smith and Capaldi's era with the Zygons, they took a one off classic era fan favourite monster and brought them back for the 50th anniversary and giving yhem a heavy focus later. Sutekh may have been a one off but he is a huge fan favourite of msny fans including myself.

22:23 I think the difference between this and Utopia is that Utopia’s big reveal isn’t “the master is back!”, it’s actually more the fact there is another Time Lord and he’s EVIL. The YANA reveal is the big “holy shit” moment. And the three seasons before that were all about the Doctor being the last Time Lord, so that’s a huge reveal even if you’re a new fan. Here, the whole episode is a whodunnit of who the one who waits is, and the Sutekh reveal is designed as the big “holy shit” moment with the way everything builds to it and then the sound cuts out when his name comes up. So, not knowing who that is will make that a little unsatisfying

When the Doctor was thinking Susan Triad might be his granddaughter, he said he would know if he met her. When Susan Twist was the cafeteria lady, they never faced each other so it was still possible. However the doctor has spoken face-to-face with Mrs. Flood and he didn’t recognize her as Susan then, so I don’t think Mrs. Flood can be Susan.
@Wazszsa4 ай бұрын
I think no matter how you bring back a classic who era character/villain, there will be people who don’t know. Russel had to introduce new doctor who fans to the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Master etc. And from then on, new who fans know those characters, even if they’ve never experienced classic who. It’s been done in a really nice way, certainly in true RTD style, and I think the general gist from others whove seen the episode and don’t know Sutekh, is that they feel the implied creepiness and serious threat of the character, which is really nice to see. Sutekh is not the “”biggest”” Villain from classic who, but he’s often regarded as a fan favourite, and I think that reinventing his image for the modern era is a pretty good move. I think the payoff for the story is good, as not only does “the god of death” seem like a suitable endgame of the pantheon characters, but also it satisfies classic who fans too. I would say that had the season had more episodes, they could have fit in one, possibly two, more pantheon gods, but I’d say this is till a good move. Doctor who needs a bit more unity after the general lacklustre image of the chibnall era, and in retrospective it might even help push some brand new viewers to go back and see some classic who too.

And now you see why I've been staying up until midnight to watch these as they come out! Back in 2014 I recall the official BBC One Twitter account was tweeting about Missy being the Master, and some Americans moaning about it. Like...you intentionally followed this account. I've seen people complaining when the official Assassin's Creed account tweets stuff from a decade ago. Hey, I've been spoiled on stuff though. It sucks, but it's a fact of life I've learned to accept. I really enjoyed this. This series has had some very low lows for me, but I'm glad they seem to be going out on a high. Sutekh has confused at least one of my coworkers. I've sent her an iPlayer link for Pyramids of Mars, let's see if she can catch up on him. Only 1 more week of these late nights. Please, BBC, normal releases next year. I just wanna know where 14 is in all this. Just sitting around, not being told by Rose about any of this? You probably didn't pick up on this, but Susan Triad's stupid walk on stage is a reference to Theresa May doing the same.

It's become clear to me, that some are dead set (Set?!l) on hating whatever happens. They get a 'simple' one, they moan, they get a 'no easy answers ' and they hate that. They criticse Ncuti for stuff that they totally overlooked for the likes of Tennant . They moan when the show ignores his colour then moan when it addressed it with the Future Racists. Etc etc , they are tedious and negative and just want to sow division and negative feeling. (I'm not on about Alex here to be clear) they want stuff spoon-fed to them , they don't need to have seen any classic stuff, they just need to actually listen and take stuff in. Have any moaned about the reveal of Sutekh? I bet some have, even though it's clear that this is a very bad Being indeed . Some people are never happy! So RTD said in a recent interview that introducing the loose story arc in the 60th Anniversary Special Episodes when the Toymaker was brought back in The Giggle. The Toymaker warned the Doctor about the One Who Waits. The TARDIS has been acting strangely because Sutekh has taken possession of it for quite sometime. If you look at the opening titles you will notice strange sparks coming out of the base of the TARDIS. Also there’s something in the lamp on top of the police box. A reddish eye!

I don't agree that "Pyramids of Mars" could had been cut down to three parts I think it fits just perfectly as a 4-parter it's been a great story all the way through which is why it's considered one of the top 10 stories of all time. As for the whole twists, turns and theories I'm starting to find ridiculous now at this point and it's tiring it's typical RTD like could this person be such and such like "Oh could this person be Susan?", "Could this be the Rani?", "Could Mrs. Flood be the meddling monk" it's becoming to fanfic I'm getting so fed up of story arcs and set ups I just wish RTD would stop with that and tell us a bloody story.
