I listened to all the Volumes 1-4 Short Trips and was genuinely shocked to discover that most of them were written by fans and not professional writers. They're so good.

I started first with Out of Time, with David Tennant and Tom Baker. I fell in love eith big finish so much that my irish friend sent me down the Paul Mcgann rabbit hole. The Charlotte Pollard arc was so amazing. I would've loved for you to mention the David Bradley First Doctor adventures line. I love Big Finish so many good stories. I've always dreamed of having a channel with a co-host to talk about this stuff.

I started out with Tennant’s first set. I hadn’t seen much Classic Who at that point and I figured acclimating to the new medium would be a lot easier with a Doctor I was familiar with. Learning how to experience audio was a bit of an adjustment, but I’ve since listened to hundreds of hours, with a great many hundreds to go.

I do wonder if there’s a DW fan out there who started with BF and exclusively follows BF Doctor Who.

This is how Paul McGann became one of my favorite Doctors. That voice! I'm sure this is a common tale.

Yea it was a really big deal when BF got him on board. I was sooo excited at the time, I mean these were the wilderness years; no “Who” on TV and the movie was a fading memory so it really was the next best thing and fortunately it did not disappoint. And, as a bonus, the David Arnold version of the theme is still the best reworking since Peter Howell’s. Fact.

I like the big finish audios so much, you can do so much more that you can’t do in tv. Some great stories on there

Great guide and some solid recommendations. FYI the Lucie Miller run was originally aired on BBC Radio 7 (later renamed to BBC Radio 4Extra). The station mainly focuses on repeats from Radio 4's back catalogue and used to have a daily hour dedicated to sci-fi, horror and fantasy branded as "The 7th Dimension", often introduced by Nicholas Briggs himself. Lucie Miller was my gateway to Big Finish and she remains one of my top companions to this day.

Thanks a lot. Im so overwhelmed w how many stories there are and a lot of them are $$$$$$ so this is helpful to narrow down where to start.

I hardly collect or listen to any of Big Finish audios but the only one that I did bought it got my attention was of course David Tennant and Tom Baker's out of time. Cuz I always wanted to hear Tom Baker and David Tennant together for the first time and this audio made it happen. That's why when I made that Doctor Who event called The Disturbance in the Multiverse I did the voice of the 10th and the 4th doctor and reference Big Finish Out of Time.

My first Big Finish stories were "Patient Zero" which was the start of the last Six/Charley trilogy and "Legend of the Cybermen" which was the last of a trilogy. Despite not having any experience with the Charley and limited experience with the Classic Series, Patient Zero is still one of my favorites.

I actually just started listening to big finish last month. I've gotten both war room set's and just got the 8th doctor time war cass set. I want more 8th doctor but don't want to go broke would you recommend the further adventures of Charlotte or the 2022 8th doctor adventures set's or maybe the 2023 ones
