I was late starting to watch this season, so when I heard hints about a 4th Doctor foe coming back, I guessed it was going to be the Black Guardian. Obviously it wasn't the BG, but the Guardians could still return next season. While they weren't the first entities the Doctor encountered, you could argue they are the oldest forces in the universe (creation and entropy). And the Black Guardian really wanted revenge on the Doctor.
