Doctor Who: Fifteen x Four ("Fifteen" in 1970s style)

Fifteen by Murray Gold, remixed to sound at home during the 4th Doctor era. There's elements of disco, classic Moog-esque sounds, and a hint of early 80s synthesisers.
This was probably the most fun track I have worked with so far.

Terror of the Zygons. I tried to cram in all of the 70s companions of the fourth Doctor, so that clip seemed to fit perfectly at the end while also showing Harry and the Brig 😊

But...the fourth Doctor's era didn't use a lot of synths or disco. Dudley Simpson composed the incidental music between1974-1979. The heavy synths didn't really come until the 80s, when Peter Howell started doing the incidental music.

I reflected on this for a bit and realised this is a fair point. There are a number of reasons why it doesn’t sound more “authentic”. Basically it comes down to the fact I’m not a musician and the MIDI track it’s based on has around 30 parts to it whereas the software I use has only a handful of vintage sounds (at least to my knowledge) which limits things substantially. This is why I’ve avoided 60s interpretations of modern tracks so far. In the end, I decided to go for a disco style track, with hints of early 70s Malcolm Clarke (particularly the “twang” of the Sea Devils) and, yes, early Howell with the use of an emulated analogue synthesiser. But I get what you’re saying and if I ever remaster the track in the future, I’ll keep this in mind. Hope it’s still enjoyable despite this! 😊

Someone made a similar point above, and provided some elaboration. Which I’ve replied to. I hope that helps address this issue. If I remaster the track in future, I’ll look into adding the horns and pseudo harpsichord sounds of the era 😊
