After seeing this it makes me wonder if River ever went to see Brian. After all he is her biological grandfather. And he's not stuck in the past. Honestly as someone who has seen a lot of Classic Who - Amy, Rory, and River are probably some of the closest he's gotten to his companions in the entire run of the show. The only three I'd consider even close to that same level are Susan (the Doctor's Granddaughter), Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart (the father of Kate Lethbridge-Stewart from "The Power of Three"), and Sarah Jane Smith. I won't say anything about the Christmas special, but I think you'll enjoy it. :)

It's always very sad when one of the Doctor's Family units split up like this. There were really three in the classic show he had, possibly four. One with Susan, Ian and Barbara, possibly one with Jamie and Victoria/Zoe (2 and Jamie were basically heterosexual life partners after all), one with the UNIT Family and one with Adric, Nyssa and Tegan.

That's the odd thing. Sure, the Doctor couldn't go to New York in 1939 anymore, but....could he not go to, say, Boston 1939 and take the train up to? Could he not go to New York 1938 and wait? Or land in, say, 1941? I know it was time for Rory and Amy to go, but it just feels like it wasn't very thought out.
@Theorigonaldoc7 жыл бұрын
Big Finish had a go at filling that plot hole by making the point that those sent back in time by a Weeping Angel become part of fixed time and they can never go back or travel in time again, but that kinda put's Blink out of sync then, because both the Doctor and Martha then would have been fixed... I think what we're supposed to go with is that because 11 saw their gravestone, he read the future and it was fixed, so he knew he couldn't change it. But even then, he could have done a work around with very little effort.

No. The paradox isn't just on New York, it's also on the Doctor. He saw Rory die as an old man in the room, making it a part of his timeline. Rory then dies by falling off the building when he's young, causing a paradox on the Doctor's timeline. Amy died at the same time holding Rory at this point. When the new reality sets up in the graveyard, Rory is sent back in time by an angel. No biggie, the Doctor can go save him. Unfortunately, the Doctor glanced at the gravestone, making Rory's death set in his timeline. Amy gets sent back with Rory, the Doctor see that she has died as well, meaning he can't go back to save them. If he goes to save them, then who died? It would cause another massive paradox on not only the Doctor, but on New York as well. Sure, they could leave New York and get picked up, but that paradox on the Doctor would still prevent that. There's more I could add to give some hope to seeing Amy and Rory again, but I can't post that, as it contains spoilers for future episodes. Sorry for the long post, but yeah, it's complicated. Tl;Dr, anyone?

Sesska there is something I think you lose when you watch the show week to week like you do without breaks, I think it is going to look like the doctor moves on very quickly from Amy and Rory but when you have the gap of a few months like we did in between the episodes I think it sat better with us watching. I do think you get a little of the doctor's sadness from Amy and Rory's departure but if watched soon after Angels take Manhattan then it does appear a bit quick.

Why couldn't Amy and Rory take a bus to Philadelphia like 5 years later and call the Doctor for a pickup?
