Great reaction to a guilty favourite episode of mine - but does help to be an ELO fan! As the doctor’s a time traveller, he could easily have gone back in time quite recently (in his own timeline) to when Elton’s mum died.

The man playing the monster is a cameo by a very very famous uk stand up comedian called Peter kaye.... he is outstanding and fills stadiums with his routines... the accent is his actual northern (from bolton) accent...

This is the first dr light episode... the one in the next season is considered to be the best episode ever by many and won awards both in the UK and internationally..

Welcome to the first Doctor-lite episode. These became something of a fixture of the first few seasons; due to scheduling issues, the producers had to film 2 episodes at once, so they devised a story that only had the Doctor in it very briefly.

This has to be one of the most hated episodes of the show. It's always interesting to see people 15 years later love it so much. I think a lot of the hate comes from people wanting big adventurous sci-fi and this episode didn't really even feature the main characters, which was kind of new and fresh at the time. The Doctor is a time traveller! He can appear in his current form in a person's childhood.

As people have said, this is a divisive episode but actually if u take out the oral sex reference and the poor creature effect and name ( it was designed by a small boy who won a design a monster competition on a UK kids TV show called blue Peter.. ) this is an outstandingly written episode... in just a few minutes u start to care for the characters because they are so well written its funny, sad and clever. Also it was apparently supposed to be a little tribute to doctor who fans and their groups...

@@RGFamReacts Disliked by many but those of us who agree with you that there's nothing wrong with a daft romp from time to time have a good time with it. The sequences between Elton & Jackie are some of the most enjoyable for me in the show, a very well observed reaction
