Doctor Who RPG 2nd Edition - Starter Set Review (Cubicle 7)

Hey all! This week we're taking a look at the Starter Set for the 2nd edition of the Doctor Who RPG by Cubicle 7. As a big fan of the previous edition, I was very much looking forward to this -- but as you'll see, I'm not entirely sold on the result.
From my point of view the replacement of the myriad of Traits for far fewer, but much more complex Distinctions, has a number of unfortunate side effects. This change makes human characters fundamentally boring, places all the onus for demonstrating character flaws/benefits on roleplaying instead of backing it with actual mechanics, and it worsens and widens the gap between Time Lords and their companions.
But I'm curious what you all think -- has anyone played this and found it to be an improvement? Am I being too harsh on this set for its boring character sheets and total lack of a playable Doctor? Comment below and let me know :)
We'll check out the core rulebook soon as well. Then I'll take a little break from Doctor Who and spend some time on Cubicle 7's other games, including Age of Sigmar: Soulbound, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Wrath & Glory, and the new Imperium Maledictum!

I like 2E and bought the Starter Set, but I'm not sure it's worth it. Starter Sets in general haven't seemed very useful- if you're on the fence about a game you can always find YT reviews or actual plays to see it in action. Starter Sets I own for any game tend to get flipped through once, I'll take out the dice or maps that I like, then they don't get used again.
