I literally bought this for my wife for Christmas. Haven't played yet. Looking forward to it.

I'm glad you literally bought it. For a minute there, I thought you'd only figuratively bought it.

I've not played the Doctor Who RPG, 1st or 2nd edition, nor do I have the Starter Set, but I do have the 2nd edition hardcover and most of the first edition PDFs (which are supposed to be compatible with 2nd edition). The game does specify that one of the players, not the GM, is supposed to take on the role of the Doctor... but recommended only one Doctor per party. Or you can go with no Doctor and just have the companions. There are pre-generated character sheets made up for all of the Doctors through 13 and many of the companions, or you can make up your own companion or Doctor. BTW, those pre-generated characters from the Starter Set appear to be original characters to the game. I don't recognize them from the show.

Cubical 7's rpg's pretty much use the same rules. I have 1e core as well as the 2e starter. Thing is, the same company also just released Doctor Who for 5e, calling it 'Doctors and Daleks".

Um, the D&D Starter Sets do not come with battle maps. They have a rulebook, an adventure, 5 pre-generated characters and six dice for ~$20. The Essentials Kit has a bit more in it for $25, but even it doesn't have a battle map. I believe you are thinking of the Pathfinder 2E Beginner Box, which had a battle map... and pawns, stands, blank character sheets with rules to create original characters, and reference cards, along with the rulebook, adventure, dice and pre-generated characters, but it was $40.

While I have no interest in playing a Doctor Who ttrpg, that looks like something I'd collect just for all the information it has. Also I wouldn't want to play the Doctor, I'd be all about a rogue time agent like Captain Jack 😅

I'm sure it'll be on Demiplane at some point

Just thought I would let you know that Asmodee website has the Star Wars RPG (You did a previous Unboxing on your channel) Beginner Box's in stock, for Age of Rebellions, Force & Destiny, & Edge of the Empire game sets. I was able to get mine right before Christmas. The beginner boxes include the FFG Dice Sets.

I have played and run the Doctor Who ttrpg and you can play has the Doctor even though the starter set doesn't include the Doctor as a playable character. I personally if we had the Doctor as a playable character I would have the player's rotate who plays as the Doctor.

Nice Eevee shirt. I've played this game once. It felt pretty rules light, but that might have just been the gm.

Bought the Doctor Who 1e RPG awhile back - excellent game that mirrors the tone of Doctor Who very well. I also just picked up Doctors and Daleks - Cubicle 7's 5e version of the Doctor Who RPG. Now I can put time travel and Daleks into 5e. You have the option of creating a Time Lord OTHER than the Doctor. Or not needing a Time Lord at all - maybe you are UNIT agents; Time Agents with a Vortex Manipulator; may be just a rag tag bunch of space travellers with a spaceship.

Does it have the stats for playing a “Male Presenting” Time Lord or Companion? I would think that’s the hardest way to play with all the negative aspects.😂
