Another version of Fifteen, and I know I say this each time. But this is the best version yet! Season 1 (Series 14) Episode 5

Notice that the start of this is actually a variant of the Long Song from the Rings of Akhaten - another occasion where an isolated people are duped into believing in the entity that wants to consume them, and the Doctors plan to save them actually fails. And the refrain of the long song is exactly what Lindy and the Finetimers refused to do: Wake Up.

Oh. My. God. Words cannot express how incredible that episode was. It was just perfection with that jaw dropping ending only being heightened by Ncuti’s flawless performance. I literally felt sick my heart was in my mouth it was that amazing.

easily my favorite episode so far (also, that first half sounds a lot like the rings of akhaten song)

Thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this. I believe the song is called “The Long Song”.

Anyone else notice small motifs of The Long Song/Infinite Potential between 0:11-0:34? Murray is an absolute genius

I love how the music is now, it’s not just a .mp3 of I am the Doctor every 5 minutes, it’s fluid, it features different tones of the same track and even includes old tracks when necessary, this is how music in Doctor who should be! I love it. Nice one Murray Gold.

This kinda sounds like a variation of the long song mixed with fifteen's theme

The Long Song elements could be just an easter egg of Murray Gold's own score but we, as viewers, could easily give it a mean behind using those elements from that score (at least I did): 11th saved those people thanks to his words and past experiences and his emotions, grief and his precise determination to save 'em, convincing/forcing a mighty entity, a god, to let them live. Words against a god were effective. Instead, in this episode, once again the Doctor, 15th, tries to convince mortal people with words and his love to let him save 'em but... This time he fails, this time these mortals, these "common" people can't be convinced, words aren't effective against something like racism and he's helpless, he's speechless. Words against "just people" are not effective this time. The Long Song elements are kind of cut/stopped in this new score, just like his will to save 'em. And while in the past he succeeded with words and he's used to express his rage and pain with words sometimes, this time his rage and pain about his incapability to save them is wordless. A little bit because of his new "personality", a little bit becuse of the situation itself.

I wonder if they'll use a reprise of this in Ncuti's last scenes before he regenerates
