This bookended the series of goodbyes. It was first introduced at teh end of The Waters of Mars. Watch your headphones at the end. The finales was never included in teh show. It's...loud...it belongs on here. - Murray Gold

The Waters of Mars was such a chilling episode that was so necessary. Probably the only episode where I was genuinely terrified. Not because of weeping angels or daleks, but because I was scared of what the doctor would do in order to save them. He would destroy history. I was scared when he said "I'm the winner". It's bone chilling when someone like the doctor snaps

Sean Last why? Because they gave him some semblance of character development?
@Sean_Last19956 жыл бұрын
because the Doctor is someone who should never ever go against his own morals his very a name was a promise "Never Cruel or Cowardly, Never give up, never give in" his action during that episode go against that promise, through all 4 seasons with Tennant his Doctor had never ever acted like that it's out of character and wrong.
@obiwankenobi6875 жыл бұрын
Sean Last it wasn’t out of character, it was him realizing that after all the people he’s lost and all the death he’s seen he is the only time lord left and he shouldn’t have to sit around and let terrible things happen so he has a right to interfere and save people. He’s the winner in that respect as the laws of time are his, he just went too far with that and it took Adelaide to make him realize it

I decided to give this another listen upon hearing about the death of Bernard Cribbins. This song, and by extension Vale Decem always remind me of how brilliant Tennant's final episodes were, and they wouldn't have been the same without Bernard's performance as Wilfred. RIP.

That scene where the Doctor is about to leave Mars. That scene is what this music was made for imo. I know that it is very memorable for being in Tennant's last episode. But I think it is so perfect for when he watches the crew on Bowie Base One get ready to leave, knowing that they're not going to make it, and knowing there's nothing he can (or should) do about it. It is so morbid and frightening, so good!

But it's lines like "Lived too long" that make it seem like he'll really die (10 lived six years...) I prefer a doctor to go out being proud of himself, like 9, and knowing he has a chance to restart from this pain, and best of all, to be brave, like three. 10 saved wilf but he did not go out bravely, because he didn't regenerate even though he was frightened, he regenerated while frightened, he couldn't stop the regeneration, unless to kill himself.

@@professionalghost138 Actually, though this may have happened with other doctors, since the age they give goes up quickly between episodes or seasons, the age Ten tells people only goes up by about six years across his entire run. Rewatch the episodes and listen to where he tells people his age. At the start of his run he's about 900 (the age used by Nine), by the end he's 906 or 907.

I sure as hell would want to say goodbye to the companions if I was The Doctor. We all know he had a fondness of that incarnation... As he himself put it: "Still, it feels like dying. One man dies and a completly different person take over." That would be the last time they saw that incarnation, that "persona" of The Doctor. It makes more than enough sense. Furthermore: I think he didn't need to say goodbye... I think he just needed to "show his goodbye."
@mclatchyt4 жыл бұрын
The Tenth Doctor's regeneration is sadder than anyone realised, especially his last line: I don't want to go. After future revelations about the War Doctor & the Doctor/Donna Meta-crisis event, the 'Tenth' Doctor was actually the Twelfth. As far as he was concerned, this was his last ever regeneration. Funny how his next regeneration to the Matt Smith Doctor (the thirteenth and 'final' incarnation from his first regeneration cycle) was far younger than the rest, utterly childish and beyond energetic, and ready to move on from the traumas of the Time War (the man who forgets). I don't want to go, indeed...

Then allow me to indulge you with one fact that will turn that into actual sense... When the Doctor regenerates he changes not only his appearence, but personality... And The Doctor loved his tenth incarnation SO MUCH. We have seen him forcing the regeneration away for quite some time... That says alot. As such; not rubbish when it comes to that specific incarnation. He didn't want the tenth incarnation to "die."

@Blox2482 жыл бұрын
Well to be fair 5 had been in that incarnation for long time in universe and still had many regenerations left. 10 only been in his incarnation for literally a couple years at most and had wasted a regeneration to stay in that incarnation already not that long before. Plus, as far as he was aware this was going to be his final regeneration. So he was at least somewhat justified in his breakdown.
