Doctor Who: The Collection In 2024?

With Season 15 confirmed as the fifteenth release in the Doctor Who: The Collection Blu-ray release range, the old question of "what's next?" arises. But What could follow later in 2024? .

I don't mind the janky original effects of Invasion of the Dinosaurs, but they need to fix the colour issues. I am thinking we will get collections with reconstructions so they are not beholden on the outstanding animation schedules. So 6 may be a realistic release. I don't know what the deal is, but putting out the Collection releases with all the animations would definitely cannibalise sales of the individual animation releases. I'd love to see 25, but Remembrance of the Daleks is so popular I think they might leave us hanging a while longer on that. Plus there are only 2 80s seasons outstanding.

So 6 colour series and 5 black and white. Maybe they will flip between each seems most likely starting with series 6 is my guess.

my main fear with Season 11 is if they don't update Invasion of the Dinosaurs, since they've not updated Underworld for Season 15

the have to fix the colour in episode 1 at the very least, but i dont think i want them to update the graphics, they are awful but special

To update the dinosaurs would take away the charm the original production has. If you were to ask me which story should get CGI and surround sound I would say Planet of the Spiders. - I’d love to see a huge CGI of the great one and see some improvements made to the original effects.

@@DAN44100 I mean you don't have to turn on the optional effects; I'd definitely like to see it with decent effects. But so far they've never shown themselves capable of updating monsters effectively.

The new effects on the Rutan in Horror of Fang Rock looks way better than it did back in 1977. And what about the giant rat in The Talons of Weng-Chiang? Thanks to updated effects the giant rat looks way more threatening and menacing than its original.

See now I can’t respond, stuck in Japan I’ve been going for the U.S. blurays as the region matches (and couldn’t get confirmation of region free when I started collecting), so season 15 is still a week away for me. And Talons of Weng Chiang the Asian makeup really is hard for me to get past so it is one of 3 episodes I’ve not watched yet from the previous releases (the others being Delta and Paradise). So I’ll have to take your word for it, that said a ruton is a lot easier than a dinosaur.

It’s just incredibly dull, not even Troughton saves it. Granted it’s supposedly a visual story and the surviving episode doesn’t do it any favours but I’ve never made it through the whole thing in one go. I also tried listening to it episodically over a week and fell asleep before the end of several episodes.

I disagree. I don’t think Invasion of the Dinosaurs should be the story that gets updated special effects as it takes away from the charm of the original production. If you’re going to update the effects which will enhance the story telling, my suggestion would be Planet of the Spiders.
