Ace beats the hell out of a Dalek with a baseball bat in Remberance of the Daleks. Ace was one of the best written classic companions.

Ace was ACE. Her finest moments in Old Who-beating up a Dalek with her baseball bat, blowing up a Dalek with a rocket, doing something very painful to a bad person (ouch!), and saying a rude word on kid's TV. And jumping into the sea at Lulworth Cove (freezing)

I see the Master, after taking over the Doctor's body, when wearing all those past Doctors' clothes he drew the line at the 6th Doctor's hideous coat 😂

Great way to celebrate the end of Jodies era and the 100 years of BBC hence the multiple past companions and Doctors. The companion scenes at the end included the original actor who played Ian Chesterton, one of the original companions of Doctor 1 back in 1963, he is 97 years old. So many other Easter eggs to mention 👍🏼🤩

Well no cuz the numbered regenerations aren’t necessarily correct. 9 10 11 12 and 13 are the 10th 11th 12th 13th and 14th faces of the doctor so tennant is still named 14

Hiya. FYI, regarding the clothes changing during regeneration, when Doctor 1 became 2 back in the day, the clothes changed then, too. And I'm old enough to have seen it first time round. Stay safe. All the best to you.

Here we go! The reaction review I’ve been waiting for! 😆🙌🏻 I absolutely loved this episode and especially Jodie’s regeneration, I cried when I saw it and I still cry whenever I rewatch it, it’s so beautiful and sad at the same time. 😭 I’m also really excited for the next era with David and Ncuti! Especially as it’s going to be on Disney Plus internationally outside of the UK! 😊❤️❤️➕🔷

Wow Ace was a total bad ass! I never saw those episodes either but got Britbox so I am checking them out there! I love how they brought David in, it harkens back to the 50th..remember when Tom Baker told Matt Smith that he might re-visit some of the favorites..."maybe you're me, well, maybe I'm you". Very cool!

You should definitely watch the Ace episodes at least. Tom Baker was a great Doctor ( try City of Death and/or Genesis of the Daleks for example). If course the effects and costumes are nowhere near Nu Who standards, but the stories, writing and acting are often, to quote the Cyber Leader, EXCELLENT! Also if you haven't seen An Unearthly Child ( the first episode) you really should. It may take some getting used to, like 12, but, again like 12, it's worth it.

Even better, perhaps make a Classic Who reaction channel, 26 seasons of Classic Who adventures await you

"Hey Ian - bet you didn't know the Doctor worked as your janitor for a while!" Two things I didn't like: 1) Too many moving parts. It interfered with telling the story, I felt. 2) Tegan, your aunt died via tissue compression in your very first episode. You know what this looks like. You know the Master did this. Why did you not see this coming? Here's how I would have done it: the Master left the little Cyberman with Tegan, with a message that says "Please pass this along to the Doctor. XOXOXO The Master". Tegan would take it right to UNIT, right? Ace is awesome; my favorite McCoy / Ace episode would be "Battlefield". It's also got the Brigadier. As far as I can tell, every surviving human companion from Classic Who, who lives on modern earth, was in that room. I spotted Ian (1st companion ever!), Jo Grant (Pertwee), Tegan Jovanka (T Baker / Davison), Mel Bush (C Baker / McCoy), and Ace (McCoy). Tennant's got to be an illusion of some kind; as you pointed out, his clothes regenerated and that's weird.
@kingbeauregard
@kingbeauregard 2 жыл бұрын
... found you a clip from "Battlefield", with some Ace and the Brigadier. It may or may not satisfy your itch for Classic Who. I grew up on Classic Who, and I won't lie, we wanted it to be a lot better than it actually was, because there really wasn't much else to watch. kzbin.info/www/bejne/anqZoZ6Zd9R0g9k

to my knowledge Victoria is still with us as well, 2nd dropped her off in the 60's and the actress still lives. And this doesnt include retired Captain Mike Yates, and retired Warrent officer John Benton. The UNIT crew were very much 3rds companions during his era

Chibnall didn't want to use the NuWho Doctors as he wanted to use the Classics as he's more of a Classic fan than a NuWho fan also it's hard with Christopher Eccleston who doesn't want any involvement in any Multi-Doctor stories and Peter Capaldi also isn't keen on them and Matt Smith was too busy. This is not the first time the Doctor's clothes changed during the regeneration it also happed when The First Doctor regenerated into The Second Doctor. This is what the 50th anniversary should had been.
@anonagain
@anonagain 2 жыл бұрын
The purpose of the episode was to celebrate the BBC Centennial - another reason they stuck to the classic companions and doctors. In an interview Chibnall confirmed he also invited Tom Baker but he was "not available". Unfortunately what classic viewers would see as a Special Episode is dismissed by some nuWho viewers as "fan service". SMH Thanks for the reaction!

If you wanted to see some stories with Ace, I've always liked Remembrance of the Daleks, Ghost Light, and The Curse of Fenric. They work better in that order. The Curse of Fenric calls back to how Ace met the Doctor in Dragonfire, but that one is... not great. You could try reading a summary of that one if you want to skip it.

Absolutely superb episode. My favourite parts:- The Master (impersonating Rasputin) dancing to Rasputin by Boney M, with a Cyberman and a Dalek looking at each other thinking "Eh? What the hell is he doing?" 🤣 8 Doctors in this one special (13, 14, Ruth, 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8) The gathering of several of the Doctors' past companions, especially Ian Chesterton. William Russell who plays him is nearly 98, would you believe!
