This is such a brilliant remix of the track. I love it. Only makes me wish John Hurt and Derek Jacobi actually shared a scene as the War Doctor and War Master. How marvelous that would have been.

I concur. With the War Doctor Begins, there is the hope that we can still get a story with the War Doctor and War Master, though it's obviously not the same without Sir John Hurt himself in the role of the Doctor. (Credit where it's due though, Jonathan Carley does a great voice.)

I can expect that during the time war, it'd be hard to remember where and what any relevant Time Lord looked like with events being constantly rewritten and undone. Also, Professor Yana acted so radically different from the Master, I'd imagine even the Doctor would find it difficult to discern his true identity.

I’m honestly surprised Day of the Doctor didn’t have the War Master in it. Like he was trying to escape the Time War but the method he was trying would have destroyed the universe or something.

@@crimsondynamo615 I think trying to include the Master in that story would be hard considering what was already in it. And plus, he explained exactly how he fled the Time War- ran all the way to the end of the universe and turned himself human so the Time Lords & Daleks couldn’t find him.

@@tako_kawaii1749 The Master easily. He would take over the empire in 45 minutes. Any Time Lord would find the force "amusing" and the empire's technology "stone age" at best. I bet the Master would be Palpatine's shadowy puppet master and manipulate him into thinking The Master is some sort of "Time god". The mental powers of a Time Lord are superior to the force any day.

The Master's TARDIS lands in a grand hall of the Imperial Palace on Coruscant. The Master, played by Derek Jacobi, steps out of the TARDIS and is greeted by the intimidating figure of Emperor Palpatine. PALPATINE Who are you? How did you get here? THE MASTER (smiling) I am the Master, and I have come to offer you a proposition. PALPATINE (skeptically) A proposition? The Master reaches out with his hypnotic gaze, trying to take control of Palpatine's mind. Palpatine resists with the Force, but to his horror, he finds that his powers do not work against the Master. PALPATINE (in disbelief) What are you?! THE MASTER (smirking) I am a Time Lord, and I have come to rule this galaxy. PALPATINE (frantically) I will not let you! But it is too late. The Master has taken control of Palpatine's mind and begins to manipulate him from the shadows. Darth Vader begins to suspect something is wrong with Palpatine, but cannot confirm it. The Master's rule becomes unstoppable, as he assassinates important Imperial officials and destroys the rebels.

The thing I love the most about this theme is how much it sounds like the theme of a typical “alien invader”. Like, flying saucers, laser weapons, all that jazz And somehow it still fits The Master to a T. At his core, he is an alien threat aiming to make the whole of reality kneel.
