I have this hearing aid. I really love it. The stickers last 5-10 days, longer if I use Skin-Tac first. Causes no irritation. Occasionally I use the headband to give my skin a break. I have single sided deafness caused by a cold virus. My other ear hears perfectly. I still have trouble hearing when there’s background noise or multiple voices. I wear it through dog agility classes where I’m running and it doesn’t shift. My issues are that I have long hair and, as with any aid, it gives feedback. Same with hats. Otherwise it’s been fantastic.

I am DeafBlind. I am extremely Tactile sensitive. My hearing loss is sensorineural and profound and audiologists and ENTs say bone conduction wouldn’t help me. However, my husband created a temporary system with bone conduction speakers of different sizes. He did write software to process the sound to lower frequencies. It worked! I used small speakers for music and a large one for speech. I have been Tactile ASL dependent for almost two decades. With the bone conduction, I heard words easily. It was more like clear thoughts than sound. I feel music the same way with guitar or piano. Would Adhear be willing to try this on me?

I have an Aftershokz headset, which I absolutely love. The problem is that it will only Bluetooth with an electronic device. Why doesn't anyone create one that will pick up natural sounds and transfer them into the headset like a hearing aid? There is enough real estate to pack in tons of technology in the device. If there was such a thing, I would throw away my hearing aids in a heartbeat.

Wow probably just what I need! I just purchased a Bone Conductor Headset. The AfterShokz Trekz Open Air. I wanted to see what Bone Conduction can do! I have a damaged ear drum. Due to having a tube in my ear for years due to collapsed Eustachian tube. To my astonishment the headphones actually worked great and now I know that I should be looking into a bone conduction hearing aid as well as a regular hearing aid.

Your audiologist can tell you what is the best type of hearing aid for your particular deafness, no one who isn't qualified should even try to decide what aid suits their hearing loss, I have never heard of the tube damaging their ear drums, also the ear drum can heal itself! xx

The hearing aid on the deaf side sends the sound vibration through the skull for the cochlea on the good side to pick up. Then the cochlea sends the sound through the auditory nerve to the brain to intepreted for you to understand.

Hello, Dr. Cliff. I had surgery due to a meningoencephalocele and the doctors had to cover my right middle ear with abdominal fat, therefore, I have conductive hearing loss. I've tried the Adhear twice with different audiologists and it sounds a bit mechanical, but it's efficient enough to have normal hearing. I am an audio engineer, is it Adhear or any other hearing aid capable of transducing clear sound, high and low frequencies and high sound pressure levels? Is it possible to use hearing aids while I am using a hearing aid? Thanks for reading me. :)

If hearing things like I have heard my music through the bone conduction headphones is better than that, I’ll gladly let them put magnets thingies in my skull to make it work! I am a musician who hasn’t been able to play for over 20 years. I put these in and if it’s loud enough, I hear words clearly, notes resonate and instruments aren’t jumbled into a chord with no distinction between pitches. It’s brilliant! I thought my Starkey livio 2400’s were great. I’m in awe currently.

Is this product appropriate for me? Is there a trial program available to see if this will work for me?

You likely won't get the level of amplification that you want. This device is similar to using a headband. You definitely want your device to be bone anchored if you want more power. Check out the BAHA 5 Power and BAHA 5 SuperPower from Cochlear Americas.

This is available nationwide. However, it is very new so not all clinics will be offering it to their patients yet. The recommendation depends on the severity of your loss. I have been diagnosed at Mayo clinic with labyrinthitis in my right ear. Effecting both hearing and balance. I'm told there is nothing that can be done to reverse the effect. Over my past 2 years ive learned to just live with it but its hard sometimes. Asking people to repeat or just flat out not hearing them because of other noises around. Anyway im def in my right ear. I'm told my left ear is perfect, middle ear is perfect, but 100% lose in right. Ive seen 3 different audiologist and 3 different ent now. Everyone has a different reason why I have no hearing but everyone of them agrees nothing can be done.

Why the Trekz headphone is in front of the ear and this hearing aid is at the back when they are both bone conductions. Is the back part better for bone conductions?
@DrCliffAuD6 жыл бұрын
This positioning has more to do with how the Trekz actually stay on your head. As long as you have good bone contact, it doesn't really matter where the oscillator makes contact with your skull. They put bone anchored hearing aids behind your ears because it is less conspicuous.
