Hi: I have Naida Marvel M70 - Naida , during the pandemic (in 2020) was damaged the previous model ( Naida Q70 SP), because of the short time I had to go for the new Naida and transfer the configuration, there was not enough time to test the Audeo Marvel-. I have been recommended to try the audeo model. I am disappointed to learn that there is no disposable battery version. Next year I will look into trying the audeo model. I hope the brand hears my request, that there is a version with disposable batteries. I guess it will be possible to gather signatures. How many users love the disposable battery version? Me, forever. Unless the next model includes fast charging, the current Lumity seems to have a charging duration similar to the iphone - classic charger, not fast charging -. Sorry for the translation. Thanks for your great videos! Greetings from Argentina!

Hello Dr Cliff. Your help in educating us on hearing care is more appreciated than you can know. I've learned more about hearing care and advancements in watching your videos than I have in being a HA user the last 30 years. I've always wanted a more water resistant aid since I work in the heat in a humid environment. I recently purchased a pair of the Lumity 90 RL units on Ebay from a user that didn't like the bulkiness of the HA's combined with his glasses sitting behing his ear. I can relate to that. But after a visit with my Audiologist getting them programmed. I must say. These are by far the best ones I've ever had. Especially in the sound quality area. They are amazing. I'm less than $1500 into them and couldn't be happier. Thanks again for all your direction and help.

MAJOR BATTERY UPDATE: After returning my Lumity Life for only giving me 14 hours battery life on the left and 18 on the right. Yesterday I received a new pair of Lumity Life and it confirms that my first set were DEFECTIVE. At this very moment I am at 6% on the Right at just over 20 hours and 11% at on the left. I have the Lumity R90 Life hearing aids, going from the top Widex of 3 years ago. Significant improvement, I can really hear my wife clearly now (don't tell her.)as well as many other sounds, and it adjusts automatically. However, I'm on the techie side and also travel internationally several times a year for photo shoots...6 African countries this last October. I wanted to know what charging standard Phonak used and if there was an emergency method for charging. I tried sending a couple of inquiries to Phonex support. The answers showed little, or no knowledge of the new line and I got some silly responses: "Thank you for reaching out to Phonak. Our hearing aids unfortunately are not Qi charger compatible, and you will be required to use the hearing aid's charger specifically. I would recommend reaching out to your provider and seeing if there is another option for a smaller. travel sized, charger. This may be more beneficial for you." What travel sized charger do they think my provider is going to have? He just told me that nothing works except their charger. In another response I was told if someone stole my charger in Papua New Guinea to go to the local provider to get a replacement. Yeah, right. As you said in one of your reviews, disappointed that they didn't offer a replaceable battery model. I am buying a second Phonak Charger Case Go to carry in my baggage.

I've been using the L90Rs for about a month. Over the last 20 years I've had about 5 pairs of the Costco lineup. The difference in my high frequency augmentation is nothing short of amazing compared to Costco. For the first time in decades I can hear crickets, wind through trees, microwave button beeps, etc... As a facilitator in large in-person meetings, the use of Roger is a game changer for me. Previously, I'd need to seat the most "meeting critical" people near me so I could constantly ask them to repeat themselves. No more. Now I'm almost on equal footing with the other members. If I had to give any "cons" to this device...there is now so much audio information to process that I get fatigued fairly quickly.

Just starting to learn about hearing aides since I need them. This video, although filled with great information, has left me wondering how anyone would ever decide on a first time purchase. I had no idea there are so many options and my husband thinks I should just go out and buy something to magnify the sound. I have people tell me that they never hear :) a pun, of course...that they do not help. After listening to this video, I certainly understand why. I would guess that most people just go for what they can afford and have no idea that most of these options are available and probably for most unaffordable.

I'm glad Dr. Cliff spoke up for disposable battery HAs. I am no longer working in Law Enforcement, but rechargeable HAs just aren't an option when you work in jobs that can put you working 16 hours in a day. 12 hour shift, then having to stick around to cover a call out, or working an off-duty detail will stretch you to 16 hours. You need to wear them to and from work and be able to 'exist' before and after work as well. Until a rechargeable can go 24+ with full use (to include streaming), a disposable battery model is just necessary. Since I'm medically retired now, rechargeable HAs are probably viable for me, but they just wouldn't be if I was working. 15% loss in client base is millions of dollars, and all for disposable batteries? Doesn't seem well thought out, or too assumptive that everyone will just go to rechargeable HAs. 12 hour shift work people typically work more alert based jobs, such as policing, nursing, factory and so on, so even the potential of your HA losing battery while working is not a good spot to be in. I always carried a full wheel (8 batteries) on me when I was working simply for assurances. There was always a full wheel in my agency vehicle and personally owned vehicle as well. Yes, rechargeable HAs have come a long way since they first came out, but the current latest and greatest is still 16 hours, and I've worked enough 16 hour days to know that this won't cut it for many professionals. Phonak should be considering these shift-work professionals (and their potential 15% loss of clients) before just planting their flag on the recharge feature. Don't be the Cali EV of HAs - at least not yet.

@@diu7 30 hours sounds very nice. I think most are still boasting 16 hours with streaming, 24 without. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with a 30 hour battery, for sure. I came from Widex, trialed some Oticons, but Phonak had the Bluetooth connectivity between ITE half shelf to the device itself, without needing a connector piece, so I made the move to Phonak. I won't wear BTE, so I'm all about what is available in ITE half shell. Looks like these newest Phonak don't even have ITE models, nor do they intend to. I am a first time hearing aid user. I have had the lumity L70 R for about 2 weeks now. I am very impressed but am wondering why the automatic setting doesn’t allow for clearer hearing in louder background. Could this be due to the audiologist not performing REM at first fitting appointment. They said that happens at the second appointment.
@geor664 Жыл бұрын
Phonak know that the act e vent, being mechanical is prone to blocking from ear wax. If you choose the active vent you are setting your self up with a RIC that requires maintenance about every 6 months. An audiologist will need to clean out the vents. The down side of the active vent is that because its an actual electromagnetic actuator that physically opens and shuts the vent it is very much prone to blockage and failure from cerumen / ear wax build up. If you go with this option you WILL be up for regular maintenance. You'll need to go back to the audiologist to get the vents cleaned out. If you try doing it yourself, you risk further impaction abs damage to the venting mechanism. It's a known issue for the Phonak. YMMV but my take was not to choose this option purely from a reliability point of view. The last thing I need is fragile technology.
@cro-knit20906 ай бұрын
The ear wax could be a problem if you have a lot of it. I keep mine from building up by directing quite warm shower water into my ears to prevent buildup near the receivers. My Activent receivers are coming up on 1 year old with no problems. Hope this helps.

I tested a new Oticon and found the clarity wonderful. I have a 10 year old Phonak with a Compilot and tv connector. If the phone rings while I am driving without my compilot on, I can answer the phone with the car being connected to my bluetooth. If the compilot is on while driving it would conflict with the car bluetooth. I was told that the Oticaon would allow the car bluetooth to bypass the hearing aid bluetooth and that I could use my car connection. It does not. The only problem is that the Oticon does not support the Android system so I have to hold the phone so I can spek into it and hear it in my hearing aids. Does the new Phonak allow the car to take over instead of the hearing aids so I can use the speaker in the car? I had a hard time hearing the conversation in the car if the phonak was on and I was driving but I could hear better through the speaker in the car. Please let me know.

Got the Lumity 90 after 5 years with the Marvels. The Paradise line came and went in the interim. But I'm grateful that my state treats my hearing loss as a disability and pays for new devices every 5 years. Better overall function! (plus a fresh prescription and program after 5 years doesn't hurt). More noticeable difference now when I put them in or take them out. Easier connectivity with all the devices except the car, but that's the car's fault. They handle background noise somewhat better, but that's still a struggle for me. Overall what I hear is crisper than before. Wish there was a battery pack that was compatible with the new charger. Maybe down the road? Battery life doesn't seem as good with the new ones. I could usually get 24 hours from the old ones (and sometimes I had to) - these are done after about 16-18 hours. Overall? I like them. Better than the last pair, and they still improve my quality of life, *and* my wife's. ;)

I'll tell you a SECRET. If your voice is hard for the other person to hear, stay on bluetooth hands free streaming but hold your phone up to your ear normally just a little away from your ear. Your voice will bounce off the phone and get directed into the aid's microphone. Just check with your Audiologist which aid is picking up your voice. Or rub a microphone and ask the caller which one sounds scratchier. This is the aid that picks up your voice. Enjoy.

Questions. 1. Can the wearer replacethe battery themselves(guessing no)? 2. Assuming not, can the audiologist or whomever replace the batttery themselves or will the unit have to be mailed to a facility for them to replace it? I do not see why hearing aid manufacturer can not design rechargeable hearing aids to be designed like laptops where you can easily switch batteries out. I would not have a problem with the rechargeable only if the wearer could easily replace/swap it out. Lithium are good but they wear out and sometime a day might come and it dies suddenly. That would be real bad in a time sensitive situation if you were a saleman, teacher, etc..

I'm in the mist of a Phonac trial right now. I have to say Audeo Lumity Life P90 tech out preforms Vitro Paradise P90 by a significant margin. I'm having more trouble with the fit on Lumity Life by the sound performance is astonishing and beats Paradise by no small margin in my opinion. As far as fit, my ear canals have a sharp hook so using silicone domes did not work on the recievers. They made custom molds but something still isn't right on the right side so they need to go back again to remake the right side. I found the Virtos are more comfortable and fit better. So my perfect HA's would be Virto with Lumity tech but those are a year or more out, if at all. Once they get the custom mold made to fit me well I'm going with the Audeo Lumity Life as the sound tech and BT functionality is astonishing!

My father, who is 80+ age, has 95%loss on his right ear & 85 % loss on left The audio tech suggested that anything above audeo 30 which is base level phone lumity will not make noticeable change for him. Could you advise if that’s true. Also suggest you create a video for the right hearing aid for b various kinds of hearing loss , those from light to severe

Hello! I just stumbled upon a video. I have the phone Illuminati 50 rR hearing aides that I just received on friday. I do have some issues with background noise. It sounds like the quality of a phone where you put a person on speaker except it's in your ears. It sounds really weird and it's picks up so much noise and it makes me disoriented. I have hearing loss in the left ear which is severe and mild in the right and it also affects my balance. So I wanted to know if this particular hearing aid is right for me? I don't think so. I think the highest one you just mentioned with the extra feature that I think would help me where it could pick up sound from all around. So the reason why I don't have that is because of insurance. So I wanted to know what I have to do to possibly receive the best quality are a hearing aid that will help me best with my situation? Thank you.

Currently have 2015 vintage Phonak Audeo V70 and ready for new HAs. I'm really struggling with the extra $1000 for L90 over the L70. When I do talk with someone it is usually with the someone to my right (my bad ear) so the SpeechSensor option and "in car" options in the L90 seem to be advantageous. The problem is that nobody mentions these in their reviews so I'm not sure how effective they are. $1000 worth?

I have to say I like my first ever HA, the Lumity Life. I'm still adjusting to them. That said, I have one major concern. BATTERY LIFE. I only get 14 1/2 hours on one and about 17 hours on the other. I'm only streaming 15-20 minutes of phone calls. I thought I would get well over 20 hours with that, and get 24 hours without streaming and about 16 hours with 4-5 hours of streaming. Phonak tells me that just keeping them connected to Bluetooth all day is causing the battery drain. Do you have any information on this??? 14 hours is not all day use!!!
@gbkworf2 жыл бұрын
@@BertiesLoveChild I agree, the right is my primary. Thats why it's so confusing that it's my Left HA that gets hours less! I'm actually getting an estimated 4 hours more life on the right. I'm supposed to be getting new HA next week. I hope that fixes the issue. I would be very happy with 18 hours on both sides.

My first set turned out to be defective, and were replaced for free by Phonak. I have been getting a good 18-20 hours or more with the new ones. Now, one year later I am noticing a couple hour degradation in them. Not totally unexpected. At some point, if the trend continues I will have my AUD send them back to Phonak for new batteries. That said, it's easy to do a top off later in the day while taking a rest or a shower if need be. @@gailsamuels7312

"Now ideally you would want to match (the hearing aids) to your hair". Wait, is that really the goal???? Because I,, an adult woman in her late 30s, currently wear Phonak Sky Marvel hearing aids in purple... because I feel old when they match my hair, because I teach grade 2 and kids notice them when they are coloured and remember to look at teacher when they speak, because I have a personality, and because, well... purple is just more fun than brown would be. I was excited for the Lumity because it is a Phonak adult hearing aid that comes in fun colours... Caribbean pirate and precious pink are both pretty awesome. I need Phonak because my school uses Roger systems extensively and I"m not planning on dying my hair to match it to the turquoise Caribbean pirate hearing aids that I just ordered :)

I just had a consultation with my audiologist who asked me if I want one hearing aid or two. I have several loss on one side and almost normal on the other. I tried out the luminity RL. The one side improved greatly. However I am still wondering if I should get both. and why would she try to talk me into just one?
@DrCliffAuD Жыл бұрын
Do you have normal hearing in one ear? If so, you only need one aid. If it is not normal, you should get 2.
@brianbenedict75711 ай бұрын
Good day, not 100% sure what I was told is correct but if so, you should include this IMPORTANT note. I'm told that even phonak can't replace the batteries, they replace the entire aid under warranty. This make it super $$$$ out of warranty. Is this so?

Ughhhh I am really interested in this hearing aid but I want batteries!! I am not going to do well with rechargeable. I have a severe-profound hearing level. I use my hearing aids all waking hours. I don’t want to have to go charge my hearing aids and wait for them to charge. I have a hard enough time with my phone and Apple Watch. Speaking of which - is this hearing aid able to connect directly to my Apple Watch without my I-phone? I want to be able to go running with just my Apple Watch and not have my phone with me.

Dr. Cliff, One thought on battery life: For these hearing aids, when someone uses the TV connector heavily, that is also "streaming", and heavily reduces the battery life of these hearing aids. I had to change to Paradise battery version, or mine would be dead by 3:30 PM, with usage starting at 7:00 am. This was a mix of Bluetooth and TV streaming. My grandfather also had a similar experience with his Marvel. He uses Bluetooth way less, but watches TV almost all day (retired). His would die by 4:30 to 5:00 on most days. Would not bring up previous models but for the fact that Phonak did not promote any kind of increased battery life on the Paradise from Marvel, or on the Lumity from the Paradise models. Any thoughts on this? It is not quite accurate to say that most users will get all day usage, assuming they get even 1 TV link to go with their aids. If they had no Bluetooth, and didn't use TV link, then it is likely they wouldn't have issues, but why buy these hearing aids if the features aren't being used?

Thank you, Doctor Cliff. The print was so small in the Phonak user manual I couldn't read it. These are extremely expensive hearing aids. Why couldn't the company provide an adequate user manual, particularly for those getting along in their years and wearing glasses? The company website did not provide instructions on cleaning their hearing aids; I had to go to KZbin for help. The company's plastic tools used for cleaning their hearing aids are cheaply made. And if something goes wrong with the Phonak hearing aids or they need to be replaced, the company charges $300 to replace or repair the item. This company is about price gouging and is not interested in their customers. Not a good company!

Help Please, I'm binging your informative videos while I'm trialing the L90R, Widex, and Oticon Hearing-aids. I stream for most of the day so the rechargeable batteries die around 8 in the evening. The L90R works the best with my android phone (the other two are glitchy with the android) and would be a hands down winner if it used a 312 battery. What would be your goto for a rechargeable and android combination? Another brand maybe??
