Thanks, Dr. Allen! What I do to manage my dry eyes: 1. Warm compress after a shower in the morning. 2. Spray hypochlorous acid to both closed eyes, wipe them off with clean cotton pads. 3. Use PF eye drops. 4. Wear moisture chamber glasses to protect eyes from the wind, dry air. 5. Incorporate good fats into diet - salmon, sardines, avocados, EVOO, MCT oil and others. 7. Load up on green salads - kale, broccoli, cauliflower, bokchoy, etc. 8. Warm compress in the evening after washing my face. 9. Repeat 2 and 3. 10. Early morning walks with sun exposure.

I stay hydrated by drinking two gallons of water a day because of dry mouth due to hypoglycemia. The warm compresses are a big help and comfortable so I do them twice a day. The dry eyes started when I had a procedure to relieve the scaring on my face after an accident. The doctor melted the top ten layers of skin off my entire face from hairline to under my chin and ear to ear. It was in essence third degree burns and I grew new skin during the 14 days in recovery. Since then my eyelids seemed thin and light passes through them easily. Also they are tight and don’t seem to close completely. Therefore my eyes started drying out by the time I wake in the morning. Thanks for these tips for overcoming dry eyes. I enjoy watching you smiling, handsome face and besides you being so knowledgeable you are by far the sexiest eye doctor I have seen ever! Cannot wait to have a real exam in your clinic one day. 😎

Seeing this video before (this is my second time watching) gave me the opportunity to get a gel eye mask for only $5 at my local pharmacy until I can find and order a moist mask. In my shopping cart right now I have 2 or 3 omega 3 blood test kit's. Just trying to decide which one to get. I found it very interesting that it wasn't even mentioned in this video. One tip I can offer is that with the Bruder mask you don't want to make it very tight and you definitely don't want to fall asleep with it on. It presses on your eyeballs and can cause vision problems. I've stopped using the band. I just lay with my head pointed up enough that the mask stays in place. Then when I fall asleep and reposition, it falls off.

A routine that I have followed daily for several years at the suggestion of my optometrist is as follows: - Warm compress while gently massaging my eyeballs with lids closed for 4-5 minutes. (I kneel down at the bathroom sink with hot water running and wet with a washcloth so that I continue to keep that washcloth warm.) - I then massage my eyeballs with my eyelids closed as well as the bone underneath my eye for approximately 10 seconds. I do this with my fingertips. - I then put Opti-Free pure moist on a Q-tip and I move the Q-tip back-and-forth above and below my eyelash with my eyes closed. Or I sometimes use OCuSOFT eyelid cleanser and gently rub that over my eyelash area with my eyes closed. (Rinse after using OCuSOFT.) Additionally, I use a morning eyedrop and an evening eye gel in the form of drops. This is easier and less expensive than anything else I’ve heard of or read about and it has been extremely effective for me. The

"Warm compress while gently massaging my eyeballs with lids closed for 4-5 minutes. (I kneel down at the bathroom sink with hot water running and wet with a washcloth so that I continue to keep that washcloth warm.)" Instead of having the water running for 5 minutes constantly (wasting water) and having to repeatedly rewet the washcloth, use something that holds onto the warmth better. Try one of those masks that are meant to be put in the microwave or, if you don't want to buy something, try putting uncooked rice into a clean sock and put that in the microwave and it holds the heat very well...

Tea tree lid soap/scrubs. Tea tree oil is anti-bacterial, kills (some) demodex (eyelid mites), and seems to help with tear production. I prefer the tea tree soaps over hypochlorous acid. I would guess that the hypochlorous acid is better at killing bacteria, but the tea tree oils are also anti-infective, and also kill the demodex (which I do not believe that hypochlorous acid does). I am also an eye doctor, and have noticed a dramatic increase with blepharitis and demodex that I associate with mask wearing... The tea tree soaps have been very helpful.

The one thing I hate about using the warm compress is the blurry eyes after. Lasts at least 1/2 hour. I worry about too much heat. That one you use might work better. I’m always nervous about pushing on my lids because it puts pressure on my eye balls. I wish I could try the supplements but I have to take little bites off pills over days or weeks to get my head used to them. Migraines from everything including vitamins. Great video though. I’ll ask my dr about these products.

the blurry eyes, if its last so long it is probably due the pressure on the cornea. This what happen to me only on my left eye. This why i do warm compresses eyes open, on the lower eyeslid first then the upper. Without pressing on the cornea.

Years ago, when I was young I had cosmetic eye surgery. Unfortunately, he removed too much skin which resulted in my dry eye condition. The same doctor did my nose job twice. I complained the first time. I now have a nice nose and dry eyes, One cannot have everything.

I cannot even imagine not having to use eye drops! I wish a natural routine would help. I do the warm compress twice daily. It helps some. Just this week i increased from 15 minutes to 25. And I started carnivore 3 weeks ago. Have heard remarkable testimonies from that but I know it takes time.

I used to use the rice in the sock method every night but am trying the Bruder Moist Heat Eye Compress because it has the band so I don’t have to hold on to it. But they recommend using the Bruder Hygenic Eyelid sheets which will probably become costly.
@Hakeke13 жыл бұрын
Hi Joni, I just use a tissue in place of the hygienic eyelid sheets with my Bruder mask and that seems to be just as effective. Dr. J can correct me if this isn't advisable. 😁
@jonil.93 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was wondering about doing that but thought that wouldn’t be good for the mask. I just received another box of those sheets from Amazon. Oh well, I’ll try the tissues after I run out of the sheets. Thanks for the suggestion.

My eyes have been red since two days ago, I've already tried two types of eye drops for dry eyes and the redness has decreased a bit but not completely. Is this normal to have your eyes red all the time due to dry eyes? I'm new to this, this is my first time experiencing this and I'm a little concerned...

Hello, I make every attempt possible to do my eye drops 3 times a day, sometimes only 2. When I went to the eye doctor back in June, he said my left eye is worse than my right one, with dry eye. I wish I could take a pill so I wouldn't have to remember it, it would be more convenient. 😜

hi wow all this information is great. I have gone to several optomologist, and not one has said anything about trying this and try that --not one. So sad. Are they not suppose to educate their patient also. Not today. But I even joined your club. So I will be on line as often as I can as I really need to do something with these dry eyes. Here are my questions first of all I was thinking about getting a humidifier as in Hawaii it gets really hot and sometimes dry here. Which brand or have you tested any brands recently that I could think about purchasing. I am not familiar with this product. But my friend has been diagnosed with glaucoma and they did the lazer on the eyes and it was successful. Can I also introduce her to this I noticed in the hospitals the humidifiers they use--really seem to keep the air moist. What is your take on humidifiers? Also ,can a person who was diagnosed with glaucoma and had the laser to bring down the pressure use these great products? Her pressure is down to 12.Thanks for listening. From Hawaii

@@victoriaring3846I don’t know one single person who thought Lipiflow was helpful to him. My ophthalmologist at the largest hospital in my city told me theirs is in storage. The machine wasn’t helpful and patients were unhappy after treatment. Apparently all except one eye doctor in my city stopped using the expensive machine. That one eye doctor really pushed me to do Lipiflow and said it had to be done several times before there was a difference and there were necessary maintenance treatments to maintain the benefit. I considered his behavior to be unethical because of the pressure after I said I needed to research the treatment. Every bit of the research was negative.

I always keep mine right by my bed at night. Like I will step on them if I am not looking when I climb into bed. So it more or less forces me to see/touch them when I wake up and go to bed. lol. Otherwise having it set somewhere you ALWAYS see it. But you are not alone - it is a tough habit to grow into.
