I went on the wfpb diet by following the diet that Dr Esselstyn recommended 2 years ago when I started having chest pains while walking up hills. Two years later I can walk up that same hill pain free. I also feel better and have more energy. Listening to Pritikin, Mc Dougall, Dean Ornish and Esselsyn on KZbin was what convinced me to make the change of life style.

I was amazed how much Pritikin knew at his time. It blew my mind off. That guy is a legend.

My sister is type 1 diabetic and has received two kidney transplants. Three months ago, her cardiologist suggested that she adopt a WFPB diet practically as a last resort. Ten weeks later, my sister had blood flowing in her left carotid artery for the first time in two-and-a-half years! A cut on her leg is healing much faster than before, and even her hair on her scalp is growing better. We are so happy for her improvement. The only thing is that we wish the suggestion wasn't made as a last resort, but as a first resort. I understand the cardiologist's reluctance to recommend it first because patients are so resistant, but still. This video should be required continuing education for all doctors to help them feel confident in emphasizing the benefits of nutrition to all of their patients.

Love that you shared the great results your sis has had! And honestly, if it's best for the patients and EFFECTIVE then it needs to be the FIRST recommendation with strict adherence guidelines!

Amazing. I really wish I had learned all this in medical school. But I know it now and have been healing myself with your help as my doctor and all of your teachings. I can now be of better service to my primary care and addiction patients. Thank you Dr Klapper!

This was an excellent lecture, Dr. Klaper. This should be taught in all schools across the country, especially schools of healthcare and medicine. I can't think of a better way to take care of people and patients!

Very good information. I have seen lots of changes taking place in me since i became a vegan. Bp has gone down, my large tummy is slowly getting smaller, my hair on my head is growing back, i go jogging for an hour non stop, i am full of energy and when i go to bed i sleep like a baby. Thanks Dr for the information. Will share it with my overweight friends.

Dr Klaper is right! Changing to a healthy, WFPBD can work. It worked for me after the SAD diet wasn't working (after eating that way for 50 years). But now after a couple years on this healthy diet? No high blood pressure, great lab results, lost the extra weight, good cholesterol level, great stamina when exercising, and I feel FANTASTIC! Thank you Dr Klaper!

About two years ago, at the worst point, healthwise, in my life being fifty pounds overweight and on high blood pressure meds that didn’t work, I was lucky enough to come across one of Dr Klapper’s videos while researching vegetarian diet. Along with finding out the horrific conditions livestock are subjected to, I switched to plant based lifestyle cold turkey. So glad! I have slowly but slowly lost forty pounds, have normal blood pressure, my vital no.s are normal and feel fantastic! I owe Dr Klaper lots of gratitude!

@Louis Gedo Veganism is a way of life not a diet. I despise the term "Vegan Diet". A so called vegan diet can consist of only French fries, Oreo cookies, Coke/Pepsi/Sprite, fried Onions, wonder Bread, Spread with "I cant believe it is not butter'", Gummy Bears (Vegan) and a whole host of Vegan processed Junk food. People eating like this are going to be unhealthy, and probably more unhealthy than those following a traditional western diet. As Michael Pollan said" Eat real food, mainly Plants and not too much. Follow a Low Fat Whole Food Plant Based diet, Limited oil, salt and sugar, no Processed foods and very limited if any animal products, good for you good for the planet.

I have 2.3 mmol/L of LDL cholesterol. Is this high or am i in daneger of artery disease? My fasting glucose is 6.1 is this diabetes 2?

Is the fat in avocado and peanuts also harmful? I know it's considered "healthy" fat. But, this presentation makes me wonder.

i noticed that he never addressed all the deficiencies seen in vegqns .... namely B12 and D .... Yet what he says is true ... I think there is room for balance in both worlds ... but a low fat diet is a high carb diet by definition and he is advocating low protein, because vegetarian protein is not complete .... What is the real answer .... moderation and balance ....

@@fredsmith2299 Esselstyn gives examples of patients who left a little extra oil in their diets, as little as using a little cooking spray. They did not see reversal of coronary artery disease symptoms until they strictly followed the diet, having no more than 12% of calories from fat - ideally 8-10%.

FYI Fred, B-12 is easy to get with a supplement! You are SO wrong about vegetarian protein not being complete, that is a myth! It is very easy for a vegan diet to meet the recommendations for protein. Nearly all vegetables, beans, grains, nuts, and seeds contain some, and often much, protein. Fruits, sugars, fats, and alcohol do not provide much protein, so a diet based only on these foods would have a good chance of being too low in protein. www.vrg.org/nutrition/protein.php Getting more of your protein from plants actually has health benefits, Beans, grains, lentils, nuts, and tofu are all good sources of plant protein. @@carl13579 10% fats .... Why that's Ornish BS ... So if protein is low say 20% and fats is 10% then that adds up to 70% carbs .... which is what I said .... low fat is high carb ... Sounds like these guys are anti-ft .... Pro-carb .... and even anti-protein ... Vegan kids are full of cavities (s DDS) from no vitamin D ... Then I added Vit D and their teeth hardened in 2 weeks ...
