If I was ever in a hospital and needed the care of a physician, I would want no other person near than Dr.Michael Klaper. He is the quintessential doctor. Kind, compassionate, intelligent and most of all kind. Without Dr.Klaper and Dr.McDougall, I would no doubt be dead. Thanks to both of you.

Excellent presentation! My dad died of colon cancer in 1988...his doc told us all to EAT plants and ditch all processed meats (and DO.NOT.SMOKE--he smoked)...I took the advice to heart. Might look into the lactobacillus rhamnosis though I am quite healthy and energetic. Thanks Doc!

I got my MS dx in 1998 ... I started googling then ... found Dr Swank ... then moved on to a vegan diet. My first 2 years with MS were bad, 3 long exacerbations, crawling up the stairs, bumping down them on my backside but now I can run down the street, go hill walking ... A German study of vegans and people following the standard German diet found that while Vegans were low in 3 vitamins and minerals (of 19 tested), the people eating the standard diet (with meat and dairy) were deficient in 7 nutrients including B12 (a heat-sensitive bacteria), plus they had to contend with excess fat and cholesterol. A 7th Day Adventist study in California found that vegans outlived their non-vegan counterparts in California by several years & had less disease.

Dr. Klaper is the doctor that change my life forever because of him, this July 2018 I will be celebrating my 10th year VEGAN anniversary. After doing more research is when I found out that Klaper, McDougall, Greger, Barnard, Colin and Esselsyn believed everything I had and still believe in. These doctors are a blessing to us and I hope more people would appreciate and truly listen and follow their dietary lifestyle recommendations.

I'm a bit surprised at Dr. Klaper's warning about taking vitamins in isolation as a blanket statement. There is absolutely no doubt that certain vitamins in isolation (e.g. B12) may be absolutely necessary for certain individuals suffering from degenerative neuropathy, pernicious anemia, etc. Aside from that, a wonderful lecture.

& Dr. Klaper only got started here! Google his name to learn more. See his 1989 booklet "Vegetarian Nutrition - Pure & Simple," and his 1991 video "A Diet for All Reasons." Also learn about his years of research in identifying what constitutes a healthy vegan nutrition. I don't find a link to that yet.

I will give this and other similar videos to my cardiologist, my doctor and my registered dietitian, explaining in a letter to them why i'll not take anymore their medicines. In less than two years I was completely healed from my cardiac infarction 5 years ago, high blood pressure and cholesterol. It was enough to change my nutrition without any side effects like when I took their medication. None of them had ever said a single thing on poor nutrition. They just do not know anything about it!

It would be great if they taught nutrition in medicine schools but that would be contrary to their commercial interests. Also, Dr. Klapper in his lecture gave credit to Dr. Jonas Salk for giving the world his polio vaccine for free. Well that may be but polio or more accurately, the paralysis that was prevalent at the time was due to heavy pesticides such as DDT in the food supply that children were consuming in their school lunches, etc., and "vaccines" would be irrelevant since it's an invalid concept to begin with but other than that, great lecture.

This is a long shot to ask questions when this post was created years ago,but it is to interesting to let slip. It’s the causation of the leaky gut that is not clear to me. Is it the sulphur component of proteins that combines once outside of the stomach to form acid and that acid burns holes in the cellular brush border and the digestive enzymes of “bad” bacteria that lives off of essential meat and therefore the enzymes also dissolves the intestinal wall? Also the acidification of the blood from high protein containing sulphur, is the acid formation seeping into damaged tissue mostly from the intestine or is it large molecules of protein intact that seep through open sores of damaged intestinal lining that then degrade in the blood stream and produce acidity in the blood stream?

He says omega-6 fatty acids are pro-inflammatory but walnuts contain 4x as much omega-6 fatty acids as they do omega-3 fatty acids. Can someone clarify? Thanks!

I guess isolated omega 6 like in all those pure manufatured oils. Walnuts have all the other nutrients with it so everything gets metabolized nicely in the body.

it's different: consuming isolated refined oils or whole plant. According to Dr Mcdougall oils must be avoided to maintain good health, nuts and seeds can be eaten, if one doesn't have problems with gaining weight

I have watched many of Dr. McDougall's videos, and have managed to get some of my more conservative friends and family to watch them too. But when Dr. Klaper comes on and in the first 10 minutes, during his "how things were in 1968", mentions President Nixon waking up each morning to the Vietnam War, he totally lost most of those I had watching. Nixon wasn't president until the next year, and by having to get his swipe in at Nixon in this context he came across as just another aging hippie who goes around with his "I'm better than you and you need to do what I tell you" speech, which they have heard before and refuse to listen to again. Guess I'll stick to videos from Dr. McDougall in the future which actually stick to the subject and hope I can get some of my friends and family back to considering eating this way.

Im so stuck and Im totally flexible in which way to go diet wise, Ive tried Keto, paleo, vegan, vegetarian, I have Cholesterolosis (Gallbladder polyps) if they grow to 1cm they can become malignant and so they are monitoring me with Ultra sounds every 6 months, now I have 2 that are 0.6 and 0.5cm and 3 tiny ones, my goal is to shrink them or get rid of them. Ive wondered what the heck do \I do to get rid of them? You have these 'functional medicine' docs online who for a nice fee will give all kinds of advice, lab tests and try and help you but they are either from the paleo/low carb or vegan/vegetarian crowd, they have their slant or bias if you know what I mean. And so going back to my problems, depending on which 'doc' I speak to they will advise on aspects of 'their' diet, and so for leaky gut its bone broth time, eat meats and avoid grains, lectins etc, vegans may say eat low fat diet of veggies. In my case I have GERD/Hiatus Hernia for which Ive had to take PPI's (prilosec)for 20yrs and taken Paxil (Antidepressant) for 21yrs athough have lowered both doses. From what Ive been reading online low stomach acid can allow bad bacteria to grow and then migrate to the small intestine and damage the gut causing leaky gut, the low acid bolus or solution that gets into the small intestine doesnt have acid hence the trigger for pancreatic enzymes aren't there so partially undigested food arrives in the gut which aids in the growth of bad bacteria SIBO, when a meal of fat arrives in the small intestine the fat triggers CKK enzyme to squeeze the GB contents but if the gut is leaky or damaged this communication system is affected and bile stasis can occur, and so this is my theory of how my GB slowed down and cause build up of sludge in my gallbladder to make these polyps form, I know I have leaky gut cause I cannot eat gluten, dairy and even soy for the past 4 yrs without getting runny nose, scraping feeling in the roof of the mouth, sneezing my brains out, night sweats, red eyes etc, I have found in the past 8 months or so that I get a new symptoms of red burning ear in the cartilage area (relapsing chondritis?) ths only happens when Im stressed, eat white sugar, bone broth or boiled potatoes with skin, in my opinion these are inflaming my gut and giving me this specific reaction, it seems my gut is becoming allergic/intolerant to a growing list of things. But here is my problem, okay heal the gut,but how about cholesterol and fats? Some will say you must eat some healthy fats in order for the GB to squeeze its contents which allows OLD bile to be released and not allowing for bile stasis to happen, if you eat fat the liver becomes more efficient at getting rid of fat, and then docs like Dr Mcdougall will say eating a no oil/fat/salt or close to it is optimal, won't this cause bile stasis though? I did come up with a way that may help me to shrink those cholesterol polps - Autophagy! I'd have my last meal at 9pm and eat the next meal at around 4pm .... ... I figured that Glycogen stores deplete at approx 15hrs and your body uses fat as fuel and goes into this autophagy state where unnecessary tissue may be 'munched' by the body and hopefully my polyps could be a target of the body's autophagy? The problem with that may be that from what Ive heard and read is that the gallbladder doesnt like being in the fasting state too long because bile will stagnate (again ... bile stasis) so I wondered if during the morning if I drank tumeric teas, chamomile tea, milk thistle complex liquid (milk thistle,dandelion,artichoke) i.e. something that would keep my GB sludge moving without jolting me out of autophagy? I did think about taking serrapeptase but it hurt my stomach after two days, it is supposed to be a powerful protein digesting enzyme. I take many supplements such as selenomethionine (selenium), vit C, B complex, D3, magnesium, iodine drops transdermally, L-glutamine and Taurine, quercetin, DGL, slippery elm, pro biotic capsules, milk thistle complex, but Im stuck on what diet to follow. I know I need to work on exercise to reduce body fat and my mind cause inflammation comes also from stress and Im VERY stressed, have 3 kids wife has lupus and look after dad who has dementia and treats me bad (not his fault of course), sorry for the massive post I just hope somehow somebody can help me, I think I need to see a naturopath and definitely write all this down for my allopathic doc so they may do some lab test, for example stool test etc to see if I have parasites etc, thanks for reading. Maybe I could go on a long juicefast, I did do coffee enemas daily for 9yrs (8000plus enemas) but stopped recently cause I feel they may have contributed to me getting leaky gut as well.

Ypu need to talk to someone in person. You need blood tests and good advice. Vegan isn't magic. It works good some but not all. Until you get good testing you won't know.
