Pure petrolatum saved my cuticles and lips during heavy chemo. Some nails came off the nail bed anyway....didn't hurt but was WEIRD. Anyway, suggestion Doc: use the top your nail to lightly scoop/scrape away from you to pick up product. That will keep you from dragging it under your nails. Also helps with fairly precise application. :)

It’s very emollient and has staying power and leaves a sheen on lips. It lasts a long time as the tube is 40g/1.41 oz for about $9-13 in Canada & the US. It’s widely available in the baby section here in Canada at drug & grocery stores. It’s made in the US.

EOS eggs absolutely sucked and if you made the mistake of leaving them in a warm car it was even worse... at least normal tubes will more-or-less resolidify in a useable way. I do have some of the EOS "super balms" now but I'm sure these guys wouldn't like those either. They're alright, easy to use - I like the aquaphor lip since it works for me and has sunscreen, but I am a little avoidant of it sometimes because it just tastes so gross and getting a little in your mouth at some point is unavoidable. That's one thing I kinda disagree with in the video - flavorants can be a little beneficial, at least for encouraging me to use a product. They don't need to be over-the-top like a lot of products though - I just appreciate when it tones down the lip balm to a more tolerable flavor.

I have the Remedy and I can taste it; it's not bad, but it is there. Doesn't seem to be helping my ever peeling lips and I think the issue is that it is not thick enough to stay put. I find myself reaching for the Laneige sleeping mask simply because it is thick and sticky. My son (who is a doctor btw) has the same issue with peeling lips and he swears by the Jack Black lip balm. Just fyi and take it for what it is worth. I am an outlier. P.S. Enjoy your videos as always. Thank you for doing this.

Can give you some feedback here. Avène's chapstick isn't good and it's too fragrant, their tube one fares better for sensitive lips although gives very mediocre results. Bioderma chapstick is a good option (and best so far), has a very inoffensive raspberry aroma, is comfortable and only complaints about it are two: applies thin and has too much slip. Others I've tried and disliked: Caudalie, Neutrogena, Eucerin. Still have yet to find a great lip care product.

@nixnox48522 ай бұрын
I just use whatever lotion I have on hand, which is usually Eucerin's 5% urea "Complete Repair". Does a much better job at keeping lips from drying out than waxy "lip balms" I've used. If it works on dry hands, it'll work on lips. The singular downside of urea lotions is that it does in fact help thicken skin, which is mostly good, but has the side affect of also strengthening those thin strip of peeling skin that form near above cuticles. Don't try to pull them off or you'll regret it 😂. Use good nailclippers (victorinox) to snip them off instead.

They did a chapped lip video a year or two ago and they recommended it. It saved my life. Unbeknownst to me I had developed an allergy to caster seed oil (ricinus communis). It is in many if not most lip color and lip care products. ALL of the skin peeled off of my lips daily/constantly. It was painful and unsightly. They mentioned that castor seed oil is an ingredient that many people can react to. So I went through all my products and stopped using products that contained castor seed oil. I switched to the CeraVe healing ointment and my lips were completely clear within about 48 hours. It's magic stuff. I found tiny 0.35oz tubes of it on Amazon. I'm never without it.

I use a lip oil or balm during the day (jot all day, just 2 or 3 times), and a lip sleeping mask at night (Laneige or K Beauty brands with similar ingredients are my fave). I haven't had dry or chapped lips since I started doing this. I don't even need a lip scrub anymore.

Back when I was in college (in the dark ages...lol), my friend recommended Vaseline for my lips. It came in a small squeeze tube, similar to the one Carmex comes in now (or that Vaseline still comes in). That has been my go-to for decades, although I now use both that, and Carmex (in the stick/tube, like Chapstick). I love the Fresh Cherry and Cupcake Batter versions...mostly for the smell, since I haven't detected any "flavoring" in them. The cherry one seems to go on more smoothly, but they both have enough wax to keep my lips nicely moisturized for a long period. They only have an SPF-15, but I'm not outdoors all that much, so it's not a negative. Years ago, ChapStick came in a squeeze tube (like the "construction worker" one) that was called "LipMoisturizer". It had Octinoxate 7.5%, Oxybenzone 3.5%, and white petroleum 33% with an SPF15. Not sure when they stopped making it, but it's gone now. (I still have one, if you need a photo...lol). Maybe they just couldn't compete with Vaseline...who knows? I've also used Soft Lips all the way back to the late 90s/early 2000s. If I remember correctly, I needed to reapply it a lot more than, say, Vaseline...made my lips softer, but didn't last very long. I still have a few Almay Lip Tints and Hydrocolor Lipstick that they no longer make...guess it's time to purge some of my stuff, eh?! lol 😉 Anyway, I'm still using Vaseline and the Carmex stick/tube (like the original ChapStick) with no allergic problems. Thanks for covering as many of these products you could find...it really helps to have good information when deciding what to look for. I hope your lips recovered OK! lol 💋😊
