I am a professor at a large research-intensive medical campus and I also happen to have developed classical TN a few months ago. First of all, I wish I could lecture like you. Absolutely superb. Your knowledge, clarity, and passion is extraordinary. Second, I finally now have a good understanding of the pathophysiology of TN. It has never been presented to me so clearly. My only criticism of your presentation is that you had to go and tell us old folks that our brains are sagging…

@@DoctorNajeeb how to cure atypical type 2 trigeminal neuralgia? What could underlying conditions be ?
@jenniferschauf49702 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this video.. I've been suffering with a typical trigeminal neuralgia and classic trigeminal neuralgia for about 4 years. It's been very depressing and at times I just feel like I don't know how I can handle the pain. It started out with pain in my mouth after getting a lot of teeth work done. Shooting pains in the mouth . The dentist kept giving me new root canals. After a couple years the doctors finally realize I had trigeminal neuralgia. I just feel so alone and the suffering that I don't know if most doctors understand this condition. I get pain in all three areas of the trigeminal nerve in my face. I get constant pain from low grade to moderate pain and then I get shooting pains in my face. I mostly get the constant pain. I get migraines too and about a month ago I started getting really bad and then I was outside and the wind blew. I felt the wind in my tooth and then I had nerve pain shooting up to my face.. it was really bad and I couldn't even move. It would just come and go lasting about a minute. But it was often. Finally, the nerve pain settle down but my face still hurts. My eyes look like they're swollen a little bit just because of the pain to my eyes my nose hurts and my mouth. I also get sore throats a lot and pains in my ears. The doctor of my Lyrica and it gave me a little relief. I live in South Florida and I'm trying to find a good doctor on here. I like mine but I don't think she's seen many patients with this condition. Sorry for this long message but this is been very difficult for me. It's even put strain I feel on my marriage and my family. I just want to get better and have hope. If you have any advice please I would really appreciate it.
@lauriekline1782 жыл бұрын
I have this Trigeminal Neuralgia by way of allergic hypothesis, Mast Cell Activation Disease. These attacks are anaphylaxis in the nerves of the face. I take Lyrica, Zyrtec, Montelukast and Metformin and Tylenol and Zaditor for my eye. I avoided triggers, drank room temperature water with bendable straws. Took warm baths to soothe my nerves and balance my internal thermostat. I’m starting to go into remission. My attacks are milder and shorter. Not as intense. Starting to sneeze more, and breaks up the head pressure. Has a allergy signature. Mast cells.

Jennifer, I hope you have found some relief. My suggestion would be to look for a facial pain specialist in your area, that’s how I got diagnosed and got help. I went to an because my pain made me think it was my sinuses and it was he who suggested a facial pain specialist. Google that phrase and hopefully you can find someone who is familiar with your pain and can help. As a side note I have also suffered from migraines for 40 years now and there is some evidence that the new class of migraine medication, cgrp, can also help with trigeminal neuralgia. Meds such as Nurtec, Ubrelvy, etc.

Dr. Najeeb thank you for your absolute love of teaching and your genius. I always listen to your lectures as it helps me in my role as an oncology NP. I am also interested in this lecture specifically as I was diagnosed with TN after suffering from thunderclap headache and RCVS. I underwent craniotomy in April with complete resolution of pain for approximately 4 months. After weaning off Trileptal, pain came back but differently. I’m devastated as pain is unbearable. I have SLE with vasculitis and I presume my pain is also related to autoimmune issues affecting my nervous system? Listening to your lecture has made things much clearer and I am grateful for your dedication and expertise. Many blessings to you!! 🙏🏼
