I appreciate the prevention tips especially. It seems KZbin is full of lots of diabetic foot horror stories and one can get the impression that they are just simply doomed to that fate. It’s scary. So thank you so much. I’ve had Type 2 Diabetes for 3.5 years and my general practitioner doctor has never asked to see my feet. We really must be our own advocates and thus I am grateful for these videos.

Thanks for commenting and sharing this here. Fully agree with you re: patient advocacy. The more you know the better you can advocate for yourself. I also included some more useful links in the description box of the video and Diabetes U.K. website has some useful information re: diabetic foot complication prevention on their website.

I told my doctor that I had lost sensation in one of my toes and that the sole of my foot had deformed slightly and she just shrugged her shoulders and said, "how strange". She KNOWS I am type 2 diabetic. I have never thought very highly of her. Even less so now.

I am a type 2 diabetic also. Get a podiatrist appointment asap as they can check issues with your feet including sensation and testing blood pulse areas around your feet. Hope this helps, as I am from Australia I have to get a referral first.

@@simonkennedy9695my doctor gave me referrals for a podiatrist I have treatment every 10 weeks and also have circulation reaction and visual checks it seems like here in Australia if you're diabetic you are referred to a podiatrist as part of your care plan you're the only other person who has mentioned podiatrist in the comments we're very fortunate

Watching this has motivated me to go see a podiatrist ASAP 😮 I've been ignoring an old scar on my upper foot. 3months ago a cheap pair of trainers rubbed an old wound so it's opened again.( after 8yrs without any open wounds) Life gets busy and we put things off. This item has me scared and I'll get an appointment ASAP. 😮 Thanks for giving me the "scares". Already have ulcer scars all over my legs 🦵 😮. Sometimes they itch but mainly Sitagliptin has helped control my diabetes (type 2). I'd prefer the diet route but willpower is lacking when it comes to sweets.I'm a 75yr old widow and live alone. No-one to nag or encourage me. Thankyou from my heart for inspiring me and giving me the boost I obviously needed .❤❤

Great informative video! 30 year diabetic experiencing some minor nueropathy and happened to notice what looked likes a skin infection around my big toe nail and after watching this video, going to the doctor in the morning rather than work! PS: I recently (12 mo) had to have hand surgery due to a skin infection on a finger nail so I get how things can go bad quickly for diabetics.
@Darvineb8611 ай бұрын
Hi, How did you develop the finger nail infection ? I’m a cna working in a home setting and I have a patient who is diabetic/ autistic and is constantly biting his fingers and hands. I’m worried that he will develop some sort of skin issue as it’s difficult for folks with diabetes to heal. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hi there - my dad currently has neuropathy in his feet & currently has a bout with diabetic foot which has seen 3 of his toes on one foot with dry gangrene. He has started HBO treatments and will continue to do so for 20 weekdays straight. He has started having a pain in his left foot (where the gangrene is) whenever he tries to put pressure on the foot. He can't walk for very long and has now seen his quality of life completely diminish in the last week. Is there anything that can be done for the pain? Would TENS even be an option?

See doctor and have blood glucose and A1C tested. Type 2 is reversible if not too fat gone. No smoking or alcohol, no sugar or refined carbs and no vegetable cooking oils. Eat healthy, no snacking between meals (give your liver a rest), exercise, lose some weight (for a healthy BMI), good night sleep, remove stress (deep breathing might help), sunshine and vitamin D. Body Composition bathroom smart scale to check progress is a game changer as with smart watch and continuous glucose monitor.

Hi Doctor, could you please answer this? My father has recently gone through nerve conduction study and there are some problem where in nerves are not working fine in foot area, the only bad habit he has is he is alcoholic. There has been an injury on his ankle with a yellowish green pus, we have put him on medication for helping body fight bacteria. But now there has been more than usual pus discharge occuring in from last 4-5 days and have to do the dressing again and again. Do you think once all the pus discharges, it will heal properly. Now it is like pus is about to lower down with a very small amount of blood coming at the end of pus cleaning process. Can you share your views?

Keto diet is now standard of care and best practice in treating patients in Australia. It can reverse diabetes. Here in the states Dr.s aren’t educated about this and nutritionists aren’t allowed to tell patients that. So sad. Sick people go to hospitals and all they feel then is carb laden food that raises blood sugars in stead of fat and protein that doesn’t . Criminal.

I've not got diabetes but I have ulcers on my big toe and on the second toe and on the third one. They don't know how I got them. My liver profile is high for some toxicity but I don't even drink alcohol or take drugs part from they've been prescribed as a metropolitan 400 mg for the last 8 weeks and Clinton, my son, or the other one because the infection I've got survivors were oxygen and now they're looking at chopping my feet off. All my toes because they're not healing. Is there anything I can do to try and save them? Or is it too late because the infections have gone to the bone . I'm only 30. I work and don't smoke anything, and this happens. Dave said I've got a good pulse in my foot.

Try going full carnivore until your foot heals. Infection requires carbs for ‘fuel’. Zero carb means only water, ruminant meats, enough (animal) fats and salts (electrolytes). There are a lot of videos on it on youtube, even by medical professionals like dr Ken Berry and dr Sten Ekberg. If all else has failed, it can’t hurt to try as a last resort’. With something as severe as you have, you can’t ‘cheat’ diet wise though. Take it super strict for at least 30 days. Good luck and I hope you can reverse the damage. Hang in there.

I already have my HBAC1 in healthy levels. I was unaware that dry skin is diabetes and that is the nerve damage... I still have almost all hair on my feet. Pain is less but dryness is the same Ive read that defficency Takes around an year to recover.

Raw honey and bandages would have healed this I had a beginning ulcer on the side of my big toe it hurt and burned so so bad Dr's wanted to operate which would of just irritated it even more so I put raw honey on a gauze loosely wrapped it removed this every other day clean the area let it air dry for a bit then repeat eventually you will see it begin to dry up and form a dead skin be patient but eventually you will be able to slowly loosen and remove the dead skin leaving on a small scare of where the ulcer began. Honey has healing properties its good for alot of health related issues.
