I think Matt's regeneration worked..especially since Ten's was so emotional and slow, I think we were all expecting this big elongated regeneration but them BAM! The shock value worked and stopped my tears and made me laugh.

I feel the "rushed" regeneration worked. We had the huge build up, the massive explosion, the goodbye, the bowtie dropping. Then, in a flash, we're onto the new. My reaction was much like Clara's. Just a shocked face, almost like "...wow". And the last shot we see of Matt is that cheeky smile. How could that be a bad thing?

I'm sad to say that I would much have preferred the crescendo that we have come to expect from the regeneration. In a way I find its a homage to the doctor, rather than being snuffed out in the blink of an eye. Each to their own I guess.

i was really sad that Matt left but it helped a lot when Matt made the Phone call to clara in the first episode of s 8. and when the doctor said things to clara i felt it too. it really helped. Capaldi said that "was that the doctor?" and clara said "you shouldnt have listened the Phone call" and Capaldi said "but it was me who called you". guys i suggest to watch it.

To me the regeneration was perfect. There was an IMMENSE build up, and I'm just talking about the scene when we THOUGHT he had regenerated. When Clara went back to the TARDIS and the camera showed all the clothes piled around and the fish fingers and custard (which personally I never thought we would we again), it kept breaking me. Then when it was finally time, he pulled off that bowtie, and the speech was amazing. And that one split second regeneration to me was Moffat's way of ripping off the bandage. We were just as shocked as Clara at the precise moment. And to me that was good for us.

I've just thought of something. With The Doctor spending about a thousand years and growing old on Trenzalore it gives Matt an opportunity to return for future anniversary specials. That's the trouble with having the surviving classic Doctors making an appearance on the 50th; they no longer look like they did when they played the role (especially Colin Baker, bless him). I suppose you could use the timelines thing that they did in _Timecrash_, but it's a bit thin. However, when they come to the 75th anniversary, or even the 100th, if Matt is still around it wouldn't matter that he was old and grey because his Doctor could come into the story from when he was on Trenzalore.

I'm gonna miss Matt Smith for his role as The Doctor. The way he went didn't exactly have me in tears, but I did shed a tear during that cameo at the end. The regeneration may have been rushed in some peoples eyes but I think it was perfect. After all, the way he went out with a bang and then came in so suddenly as Capaldi was awesome, and it got me immediately in the mood for the new doctor, who might I say, was funny from the very first line. Steven wasn't kidding when he said he'd change the show forever. Can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Matt was even better than I thought he'd be, but Moffat surprised me with the warmth of the script, and Jenna finally got a chance to really show her stuff, and after Matt broke my heart she skillfully ground the pieces into tiny granules in the dirt with her shoe. They all served Matt's exit beautifully, and I hope he's proud!

This is why I think the regeneration was so fast. There are two steps in regeneration, healing and changing (remember david tennant's regeneration into himself, he healed but didn't need to change). That's why matt got younger, he healed and that was the explosive light and the usual regeneration effect we see in the modern era. The actual change is quite quick so that's why the change was fast, he had already healed, he just had to change (just an idea, makes some sense). Would have been nice to have a longer regeneration though but a very touching episode

I cried on every regen since 2005, and while Matt's was so sad, yet so triumphant because he knew accepted it happening even with the pain…David's was the most heartbreaking for me because he was all alone and the look on his face was just aching for someone to be there with him. That being said, I really love Capaldi and I think he's just fantastic as a new a different side to the Doctor.

After saying goodbye to Ten, who is My Doctor, it took me a while to warm up to Eleven (and for that I mainly blame the character of Amy Pond, who I just can't stand), but I too got a bit emotional at his regeneration. His speech ("I will always remember when the Doctor was me") and the bow tie hitting the floor were truly sad moments... I wish Clara and Eleven had more episodes together, I really enjoyed their chemistry. Also, it would have been absolutely heartbreaking to have River appear at the end for one last goodbye. Here's hoping to see Matt Smith's Doctor return for a special episode or two. I would genuinely like that.

I'm usually not a weepy person either - but this has me in massive amounts of tears. It's such a happy and sad feeling, to get to experience such an amazing actor and his time, getting so close to him and his character, but then watching him go is a heart-wrenching experience. Thank you Matt for this experience. You will always be important and you will always be loved.

actually this is the "doctor" that made me pick up the show and watch it starting with the first episode of the 9th doctor, really dislike the 9th doctor and the 10th was decent, but i patiently watched through all that just so i could understand as much of the story as i could until i would get to this latest seasons with Matt Smith i might watch the really old seasons one day, but one fact remains there without a doubt, i only started to like the show because Matt Smith played the doctor and i hope i won't stop watching it when capaldi plays the doctor gratz Matt Smith, you're the best doctor who character there is :)

Nah, he was the worst of the new Doctors. It was David, Chris then Matt. I didn't really enjoy Matt as the doctor. Dunno why, I just found him annoying :L

***** Calm down, it's only an opinion. It's now baseless either, I hated his Doctor, he as an actor did a great job at acting, but the Doctor... I hated his Doctor so much. Too annoying and goofy, I also didn't like the way Moffat portrayed him. He is a great actor, but his Doctor was the worst after Colin Baker. :)
