I genuinely feel badly for Kylie Jenner. I’m glad she at least mentioned the negative impact their influence on beauty culture has had on young girls. She was too young to have any agency in what was being done to her. Honestly, parents who allow their teenagers to get cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures done should be on trial for child abuse. Both Yolanda Hadid and Kris Jenner would be held responsible.

Totally agree! A bunch of my friends and family both older and younger have started to get stuff done. I’ve always wanted and hoped to age naturally. But when I turned 40 last year, and being surrounded by so many cosmetic alterations, I started wondering if maybe I should just get a “little” bit of Botox, and keep having the same thought since. This video helped put me back in the again naturally camp big time! All of these celebrities look awfully fake and I they’ve got stupid money! 0:20 When the narrator said, "This is bought beauty." I thgt he said, "This is bot beauty." As in 'robot' beauty. I am now going to give my full attention to this video. - - You can tell a lot of research went into this video. I just don't like how abruptly it ended with SZA talking about the fibrosis being removed from her breasts. SZA is a straight up mental case on plastic surgery and body dysmorphia gone wrong. This black woman's face looks like a Kewpie doll and she's going to get more surgery bc her weight keeps fluctuating! SZA definitely needed a deep dive done on her procedures the way we looked at the Kardashians. It's really sad when celebrities think they are being honest about all of the work they have had done (Cher, Kylie, Megan Fox, Khloé, Kim) they are STILL LYING!!

Great doc! Only note: Joan Rivers did not d*e from plastic surgery. It was a routine, outpatient scope. If I remember correctly, the dr was supposed to perform the scope in the hospital and he cut corners to save time/money and did it on his office. If the scope was done in a hospital and something went wrong there, she would have easily survived.
@delia_watercolors8 күн бұрын
It was a routine endoscopy that k*led her. People get them to see if they have signs of ulcers, growths, and stuff like that. I have had many endoscopies because I have ongoing stomach issues. I've always done them with my dr in hospital. Joan's dr did her's in his office, despite her advanced age and other risks.

Great and thought-provoking documentary. I find it so blatantly hypocritical and accommodating from those two plastic surgeons (Youn and Linkov) making reaction videos about celebrity plastic surgeries, when they are part of that same industry (is not a health-related career anymore). They live off profiting from people's insecurities. Lorry Hill has been very open about her own journey and the price she paid of almost losing her nose from necrosis due to cosmetic procedures. No amount of surgeries will stop the aging process.

Amanda Lepore's transformation is visionary and exacting. She was never trying to look real but otherwordly. She is more like her own work of Art. She isn't in the category of most of these other extreme examples who are actually delusional. That said it's interesting that in 2024 her lips, once considered extreme, don't look so extreme any more. That says something of how our perception has shifted in a matter of just several years.

I have a hard time differentiating actresses in a movie. I have to concentrate on something particular to keep up with plot lines. Back in the day there was no problem telling the difference between Monroe, Bette Davis, Rita Hayward or Natalie Woods. Swear if I met some of the current day celebrities on the street, would I realize who they are?! So cookie cutter! The difference with plastic surgery today is the sameness. Same: nose, lips, cheekbones, extensions, butt, breasts.

The issue is called...people only love youth and beauty. Once it's gone no one cares anymore and so desperation sets in. The truth is that you must learn to love yourself despite your flaws and short comings because you are who you are. And being confident with THAT is a decision, not something we need to wait for. Especially given the fact that most people cannot afford the surgeries needed to keep up. Looks fade. For all. No one escapes ultimately. Confidence doesn't have to, and confidence is beautiful.

This is full of interesting things about these beauty "treatments" that I did not know, like the ancient egyptians and their beauty procedures I only knew that they modified the skull of the baby`s head because it was considered to be very beautiful to have extra long skull, they saw it to be out of the world beautiful (some tribes in Africa still practise this and if it would be considered to be beautiful in western culture also, Hollywood would be doing that for sure.) I thought people had plastic surgery later in life, to lift sagging facial features etc, but I am shocked 😮 how these days, young females with faces full of natural collagen with fresh plump skin, are going under the knife 🔪 how crazy is this? If you have a bumpy nose, or some other imperfection cool, fix it, but the drastic cosmetic surgery procedures on especially young women is mind boggling😢I just don’t get it. Why can’t we be happy about our natural looks? I blame these so-called celebrities, who are obsessed with their appearances, but not realising the impact it has on the everyday young women, and men, might I add. I was called big nose at school, but I used to say to the haters…… I can breathe, my nose does exactly what it’s supposed to do, so why should I change it to please others? I do not want to join the “I need to look like everyone else club thanks!” No I need to look like me, and be content with that! ❤

If people simply started to entertain the reality that they’re not suppose to look like others...especially not people they’re not even related to so much of this bs would be solved. Also the idea of someone getting plastic surgery and people use that as a reason to compare and put themselves down, only shows they have issues at the core they need to address instead of engaging in escapism and act like they fix their inside from changing what they look from the outside. That’s like having a doctor throw on a cast on your leg when your arm is what’s broken! The Ticbook trend or whatever it was called on TicTac app, was more healthy where people dive into books and actually focused on empathy for others through the characters they read about and stayed away from staring at themselves in the mirror seeking flaws in their physical appearance and staring and comparing themselves to others on social media. Still waiting for this nonsense shallow era to come to and end! How about actually working torwards stopping this obsession of what you yourself and others look like?! It’s clearly not serving to increase happiness in your life anyway. / Scandinavian

This video although initially engaging feels more like a fluff piece, meant to add a sense of body horror to the practice of cosmetic surgery, without dissecting the nuances of why these certain things (standards, practices, etc) are the way they are- ultimately further shaming and blaming victims of a pre-existing system for playing the game. Additionally, making the correlation between trans-identified individuals while completely disregarding the trans-masculine experience and standards, as well as the fact that these same standards you are dissecting which mainly cis-women for experiencing- many more cis-het men have been falling victim to as universal beauty standards shift in the era of global comms and social media and the growing incel “”communities”” was incredibly shortsighted and subtly confirm where your intentions were, and the subtle bias in your line of thinking, research, and presentation. Ultimately this “documentary” was surface, shallow, and did nothing to push the conversation forward- but contains strategically compiled footage and arrangement of information sorted in a way to captivate people with a hook. Props to that!

Marilyn didn't have surgery, and her records regarding her nose state signs of a small fracture on the tip which yes could be a result of "surgery" or an all too infamous incident with her EX-husband. Natural beauty is real, and I don't believe people who looked the same as before would undergo something so risky back then. Actress Carole Lombard after a car accident had a slightly crooked nose so she used to draw a white line to make it appear straight, why didn't she get surgery? Clearly having a straight-looking nose was important to her. She could certainly afford it, why didn't she? If surgery was so clean and well done back then. Plastic surgery in Hollywood didn't really become a thing until the 70s and 80s and that was mostly for older women.

Just, yes. Also gender. Although I do not experience gender dysmorphia I highly highly experience; dysmorphia. Of my looks. Of my body. It’s caused me to lose a majority of my muscle mass to the point it’s hard to do daily tasks. I want to tell my doctor that I “identify” as a more attractive woman than I am and that it effects my daily life my big nose my seemingly nearly flat chest I need braces etc.; transgenders are lucky that people can pay for their surgeries and hormones to become a completely new sex 🙄 not that I want to do that but some of us want to just look better I know that’s not right and that’s why I haven’t tried to follow through with this but it’s even more so unfair that the class gap has further separated the lucky ‘few’ compared to the rest of us that would truly at least mentally thrive after treatments like this. Yes it is vanity but I’d rather give into vanity than give up like I did a year ago and chop off my hair and inflict pain on selves. I’m not alone. lol.
