Helpful! 2 things. 1. I use LED lights, I would prefer softer light. What lights do you use (behind your soft box? 2. Aspect ratio is wide open, when people talk don’t they move in & out of focus??

Excellent stuff, but one clarification. A rug that size in a room that size does not decrease echo. Close mics get you decent sound in a space like that (lavs in this case). To actually dampen the acoustics in there would take hundreds of square feet of heavy drape.

What kind of lav/ transmitters did you use? You showed the receiver's but not the transmitters. Any cross over or phasing when using two lavs side by side? I'm shooting my first two person interview today using two lavs side by side. Learning with lots of questions! Thanks. I really like your audio setup.

Two thumbs up bro. Since moving to Japan I have been working with a lot of interview clients. Documentary and Promotional clients are starting to trickle in. I shoot with the Fujifilm XT-4 and The Panasonic GH5. I can't wait to try using the same kelvin temperature, such a good tip that makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing.

Many times for a corporate video, you may want to shoot “flat” as dramatic lighting may not be appropriate. Rembrandt lighting often comes off as too much for a simple and happy piece.
@rupeQ21293 жыл бұрын
Thanks. That was great and a good recapitulation of everything to take account of. Also, I like it as you aren't using OTT gear and lights.

Great vid brother. I'm shooting a 2 person interview this week. The COVID protocols will have the 2 subjects 6' apart of course. Just wondering if I'll be able to get away with 1 key. I'm using a GODOX VL150 via Aputure Light Dome II (w/ grid). Hoping that will work. If not, I've got a GODOX SL60W as well which I can add a Profoto 36" octa to for the second key. Maybe do a cross lighting type of set up. Just wondering your thoughts on that. Oh, and we're shooting outdoors. 9am so shouldn't have any issue with bright, overhead sun. I'll be doing a walkthrough later today to determine the exact spot we'll be shooting. There's some shaded areas and all thankfully. We'll see. Anyway, would appreciate your feedback. (I'm a professional photographer, but don't often do video work of this type. lol.) Thanks in advance.

Outdoors, always make sure the sun is the backlight and supplement what you need to fill in their faces. Hate seeing subjects squinting in the sun because the videographer didn’t know this common concept. Good luck on your shoot
@ChristianWebb4 жыл бұрын
@@itbelikethatsometimez Appreciated. All went well. Yeah, I've shot outside with sun as backlight plenty of times. All good. Thanks for that.
@ariomstudios73664 жыл бұрын
May I know which one did you use eventually? How did thr sl60 performed with the fan noise matching outdoor sound
@Franciehatescoffeeicecream3 жыл бұрын
@@ChristianWebb how did it go? I guess the 60 is too weak for a key light outdoors unless you are in a significantly shaded spot?
@THATGUYTALKSMOVIES3 жыл бұрын
@@ariomstudios7366 Used both. The fan noise of the sl60 wasn't an issue at all. That's more of a problem indoors if anything. I use it now as a hair light for my videos and it's never an issue. (I'm Christan Webb by the way!. lol. Just realized I was replying from my Film Fan channel.)

This was great! What are your thoughts on the positioning of the interviewer as it relates to where the interviewees are looking? I see in your setup the position was off to the side vs right behind the camera. Does it present better if the subjects are not looking directly at the camera in your opinion?

Looks good, if I could only critique one tiny but very important thing it is cable management and lack of sandbagging your lighting. Trip hazards especially with lighting and with a young kid on the set too, you've been shooting videos a long time and may have over a million views on KZbin vs someone like me who doesn't even upload stuff but safety is paramount, this should be second nature to you, get yourself some gaffer tape and sandbags and take the time to be safe on set cause your insurance wont cover you if you have an accident. Not trying to chew you out but there could be people who watch your stuff who learn from your techniques and follow the same set up as you, it just irks me when I see it. Not saying you do this all the time but I noticed it here and it just looks sloppy, like a cinematography student on their first day learning about lighting. Apart from that there is great stuff there man keep up the good work but just remember the gaff tape and sandbags next time
@THECAMERAHACKSM24 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, a bad example of cable management. Safety is most important.
