Saturday the 9th March, running the Doddington Hall parkrun.
217th parkrun and 2nd at Doddington Hall.
A much nicer day for running and a quicker course.
Started close to the front to try and avoid getting held up, but still got caught in a bit of traffic.
Bit of a head wind on the way out down to the corner onto the trail, so hoped it would be a help on the return trip. Legs were still feeling good at the switch back, did find I got a little held up when I was unable to overtake on the narrow track, running against the oncoming runners and maybe took a bit too much out of the legs easing back into the pace.
After hoping I'd have the wind behind me to the finish, sadly that wasn't to be the case and had a headwind on the gradual climb back, that seemed to last forever.

Great run Matt. In a good vein of form another sub 20mins. Looked a nice course, good surface and by your video fairly flat. The lad who picked you off last 400 metres perfect timing 🤬.

Cheers Jeff ! Seem to be having a decent run of results, when the course is agreeable ! Ay, its fairly flat, but there is a noticeable incline as you leave the trail and head to the finish though. Yeah, couldn't do anything about that, this time !!

Great run the last part is a deceptively long wouldn’t call it uphill but incline, good Parkrun for PB if you can get away from the starting crowd

Cheers. Yeah that last stretch of an incline feels like it lasts for ever! Definitely PB potential of you can keep the legs moving at the end and navigate the traffic!

Great effort. Even though you might have been held up slightly the other runners seemed good pacers for you.

Great time and splits were very good. Looks a fast course. Not far off 18 mins 👍👍

Cheers James, yeah, fairly happy with those splits. It is quite quick course, but the last stretch up to the finish is a gradual climb so that does take some of the pace away at the end !

Your in a great vein of form Matt. Great time again! That last half mile looked all uphill - hung in there very well. I came across a guy running the "Selby Parkrun", an out and back and is an ex airfield but perfectly flat... seemingly, a few try for PB's on it. At the rate you are going a sub 19 is on the horizon...

Thank you Keith! Yeah that last stretch is a gradual climb and you can definitely feel it in the legs, the head wind out and back didn't help either! I'll have to take a look at Selby, its about an hour away, but might be worth it for for that PB attempt ;-)

Great vid. I'd like to mention a potential sensitive subject but I've wondered about this for a while and it's still a puzzle to me. I've done over 30 park runs here in the Midlands and I don't think I've seen one non-white person running. It's really weird. It's almost like non-whites are banned. Anyone else noticed this?

Thank you! While I wouldn't go as far as suggesting that non white runners are banned, they are definitely a minority amongst parkrunners. Perhaps parkrun could do a better job marketing and appealing to other demographics!?
