For this video review, we hop in depth about the Dodge SRT 392 Challenger with 485HP and a ton of smiles. Being one of the few true muscle cars left, this Challenger doesn't have the four doors of the Dodge Charger, but it's one gorgeous car. Thanks for watching!

ThatDudeinBlue you do realize that the scat pack weighs 500-700 pounds more that a coyote mustang and terminator cobra and on the dump I bet it make the same power as a coyote soo why even mention those cars the challenger is a boat and that's a fact that's why there over powered..

Best most comfortable best looking of the 3. it's the most muscle car of the 3. the other 2 is more like sports car specially Chevy. Just look at the mustang it looks like a Ford Fiesta I mean Ford Taurus

It's a car that drives like a boat, and no waves, of course it is pure comfort. Scat pack, terrible name. Even by today's standards, If they wanted to use "scat" they should have gone with 50 shades of brown. But it is a true muscle car. The new Mustang I do not consider it a muscle car, it is much more of a coupé, good power fused with performance oriented suspension.

The Scat Pack comes the original muscle car era, a group of Mopar enthusiasts had basically a club with a news letter, so the Dodge made the Scat Pack Challenger. It's super cool to see it come back with the new car, and in my opinion the folks at Dodge hit the look of the Challenger out of the park!

Here is the secret to determining which of these monsters is the best.... think about which would make you happy... that one is the best... thats it! There's always going to be a better, badder one next year so if your trying to be the fasted or the flashyest, your chasing a ghost. Don't second guess or buy one base on some stupid spec you think makes it the best. Do you think you would be making a smarter purchase by getting the one with 50 more HP than another or one that is 1/2 a second faster in the 1/4 mile than another? There is nothing rational about buying a car with more than 350 HP so why the hell would you get one based on a comparative analysis? I bought a 2016 Challenger SP with 6 on the floor. I read all the comparisons and knew the manual 6 was slower than the bad ass auto 8, but I got the manual anyway. Why? Because, in my mind, I saw myself ramming through those gears and I was happy. Life is short, do stuff that make you happy.

David... Are you still glad you bought the car? I am interested in buying a new car with a naturally aspirated motor and a manual transmission to drive with enjoyment. I can live with a v6 in some cars but would definitely want the v8 in one of these. I had a 1970 Dodge Charger with the 383magnum and pistol grip shifter with 4speed manual when I was 16, later I got a brand new 1976 Pontiac Trans Am 455 with the 4 speed manual. Years later I bought a 1971 Chev Camaro Z28 with a custom bilt motor and 4 speed manual. Those cars were a lot of fun to drive. I haven't had a car like any of those in a long time. Do you have any recommendations? I really don't want to pay more than 45k for any new car.
@Maine76
@Maine76 6 жыл бұрын
I would say he is happy with it!I own a 2011 Charger Se with the 6 cylinder and other than yes the smaller engine,these cars,Chally and Charger are such comfortable,fun,reliable cars!Thats an impressive list of cars you had,must say im jealous!But if your in the market for a new muscle car i believe its a no brainer to go with ScatPack,they can be had slightly used for under 35k all day long but new your prob def pushing the 45k mark and then some!You def get alot a bang for the buck it seems.Hey you live once man you should have things you want,I was recently diagnosed with a terminal disease so puts things in perspective,I'm thinking myself of going today to look at a 2016 Scat with 23k mile for about 34k,If i can get him down a few more I'm getting it!This vid confirms it for me!I know you asked the other guy his thoughts but figured I'd chime in a say that I'm positive you won't be dissapointed at All,485hp with 460lb ft torque is more than enough,unless thats too boring you could get a RedEye WideBody or the 1320!Damn its a beautiful time to see and be able to own one of these fascinating absurdly fast punch you in the gut and ask for more cars now!Happy hunting man and good luck 👍Mopar or No Car

When I drove the Hellcat Charger I loved how that transmission shifted! But, in case of the more "vanilla" SRT8 challengers I'd need to have the 6 speed. No matter how good the auto is, at that power level you can still bang gears with not a lot of traction issues.

I own a 2015 B5 Blue Scat Pack Shaker with the 6 speed manual and it's a blast! You're right about the tires, that's the biggest issue with the car. Sure it's fun to spin tires but they're just not enough. Tell the owner if he wants to improve the steering response and handling, put a strut tower brace in the front. There's a company called Speedlogix that makes one that fits the Shaker equipped Challengers and you can have it powder coasted to match the factory color of the car which I did and it looks really cool. As soon as I installed it and drove the car I felt an immediate difference. Turn in is much more responsive, even though you're still driving a heavy car. I have videos of mine on my channel.

I really like the challenger (and I'm a mustang guy too with a 2012 gt ) for one thing I've got to give dodge credit that the challenger is the only car that still looks like a muscle car and it has a sunroof👍🏻 unlike the mustang which does not! It's like my 2012 gt which I thinks is the last of the "muscle car" looking mustangs, which is why I love it sooo much and it looks waaaay meaner than the s550 stangs! So challengers and 2010-14 mustangs are my favorite muscle cars😉👍🏻

I think the scat pack is a very good choice because the hellcat yeah it's 700+ HP but when are you going to use that much HP. A car you can push to its limit "anywhere" is way more fun in my opinion. For me the perfect range of HP for a "street car" is between 200HP and 500HP max.

@zachmockett7566
@zachmockett7566 7 жыл бұрын
I can't say that 707hp is unnecessary, but I would buy a Scat Pack or an SRT 392 over the SRT Hellcat. I like the 6.4's exhaust note better plus you don't have the intrusive supercharger whine. The Scat Pack is definitely more exciting to look at than the Hellcat or 392, though if looks are what matter most; the Daytona or T/A are both awesome. And the price difference? A brand new Scat Pack sells for about $40-43k here in Ontario while a Hellcat is more than double that.

I've had my 2011 Toxic Orange SRT8 since 3 miles and I've put 60k miles on her so far and I *always* turn around when I walk away. I absolutely LOVE my car! And adding a 2.3 Liter Maggie just made the 392 just more angry! :) Tires... Oh where to begin... I replace tires (all four) about every 7k miles I just shred all four. I really need to stop buying 245's and step up to a 275 on the rear or step up to wider rear rims but even then there are limitations because of the suspension. Great review! It's enjoyable to watch someone honestly review the car that may come from the Mustang or Camaro or other camps and do so without just pure vitriol. Thanks for that!

Driveway Swapped Productions Toyota is great if you want to drive a mind-numbingly boring, shapeless blob on wheels. The last fun car they made (apart from the GT86, which is decent) was the 2nd gen MR2. I'd rather drive the panel-gapped Challenger than any Toyota that you could buy currently. They're junk if you want any fun, as it's against Toyota's rules to produce an enjoyable car.

I love the scat pack because you can almost get a "stripper" model, no options you don't NEED. Just that glorious 6.4, and a bad ass car built around it. I agree on the tire size issue, these should have a bigger tire option. I have 3 kids and really want to get a scat pack Charger!! In B5 blue!

As a Scatpack owner I can say that it is the best trim to build upon. It's not as srt so it doesn't have the adjustable shocks so you can easily do coil overs. Fenders can accommodate a big wheel and tire and an engine when tuned right can easily do 500hp at the crank. All for a great deal.

You're a Liar if you don't think that 100% Pure American Muscle Car is fukin Great! For only $39k the SP is 350lbs lighter than the HC (4085lbs)..and news flash to anyone who doesn't know the 2015-17 Challenger SP with the A8 trans are low 12sec on factory tires, & guys are hitting 11.7's @116mph with only a SET OF DR's (NO TUNE NO BOLTONS, JUST TIRE) in a 4000 pound N/A Muscle Car! #TorqueMachine Add👉 275's on the front, & 305's on the rear. Lowering springs, Strut tower brace, & Strut tower brace. Trust me, you won't regret it.. Plus the car is sexy as hell, & is dripping with road presence TINT THE WINDOWS ASAP!!

Soon2Be Fulfilled its a great muscle car no doubt. But Chevy and Ford have both left the segment with their newer model cars. The Camaro and Mustang have elevated them selves from being basic muscle cars, to refined sports cars that can compete with Europe's best but at much lower prices. Meanwhile the Challenger and Charger are still just in the states doing burnouts. They are good cars but are nowhere near the track performance of its former competitors

Zatharos, bro, personally I'm glad that Challenger is still a big, & bad muscle car. There is room in the market for all 3. The mustang, & camaro are great sports cars, & I desperately want a Shelby GT350. I respect, & like the outstanding Job GM has done with the Gen6 SS/SS1Le/ZL1/ZL1-2LE..I'm not a brand loyal clown. There are things to like about all 3 No offense, but no one has ever claimed that Challenger is a track/course car. It's silly to even bring it up

I’m tired of people saying they handle like a boat! My challenger scat pack shaker is lowered,305 rear tires strut tower brace over engine bay and a rear strut tower brace in the trunk and ohhhhh man did all those things play a huge role in the car having less roll and “floaty” boat feeling. currently just ordered sub frame connectors which will just tighten up the chassis even more!! As well as improve launch.

Happy to see a Mopar review, haven't read all the comments but I feel a war both ways xD If I ever upgraded from my 2013 Charger the Scat pack with the shaker hood would be one of my first choices, don't get me wrong the Hellcat is incredibly appealing to me, but I like the styling more on the scat pack and the price is so much more attainable. I know their heavy but I love the nostalgic looks and Dodges crazy horsepower and classic mindset!

I think when I was shopping for a new muscle car last year, maybe 2 years ago, this challenger was priced about 5000 more than the Mustang,dealership prices, not MSRP, and I just couldn't justify the price difference. Otherwise my impressions were alot like yours. fun, comfortable, big. not as lively as the Mustang. Ultimately it felt like it targeted an older demographic, so I ended up with a Mustang.

I personally think the scat pack is in a class of it own. Because of the size and weight is the reason I ordered mine today. I had vests, Camaro's and many others and they did not perform on long trips like vacations. I did order the over size tires which are 275's all the way around and I like the fact that I can rotate them. Nice video thanks for sharing it.

I think it is the best looking of the challengers if you are looking for that complete retro look. As for the power and torque aspect.... it's got it, but it's still a land yacht. In fact I do believe these weigh more than the 60s and 70s and they were real steel.

I'm seeing a whole lot of haters towards this car in the comment section. If it isn't a Mustang or Camaro fanboy talking "My car is faster". It's a import tuner punk spewing their shit all over the comment box. But I'm sure your average Challenger owner don't give two cans of shit about your opinions. They're just in it for the cruising grand touring fun.

It's so weird seeing that Superbee logo tossed on any Dodge now. In the 60s/70s it was unique and thankfully brought back for the Dodge *CHARGER* recently. To see it on a Challenger is a little weird to me. Nice car though. If not for the excessive weight I'd consider one. No one tells me the exact reason they're so heavy other than "Chrysler fucked up".
@Photoshop098
@Photoshop098 7 жыл бұрын
The Challenger and Charger are based in the 300C platform, wich itself its based off a late 90's Mercedes Benz E-Class chassis they got from the partnership with Daimler. The Chassis itself its pretty good for what it is, but have in mind they had to reinforce it to meet new safety regulations, So its a bit heavier. Then there's there's components like the engine. For example, the Hellcat engine block is iron (they did this with reliability in mind, because of the boost and heat) instead of aluminium like in most modern engines, that's a lot of weight, and so on. Its heavy because its built kinda "the old way" , just to get cheap Horsepower and good looks :)
