Wow that was the comprehensive comparison of before and after I have ever seen, excellent job!!! Great info about the cat less mid pipes and the smell, that might make me choose to go with high flow cats instead, when and if I can afford to get long tubes. Good video sir.

I say that as i went through it. That thing sounds awesome, i finally got my hands on a SRT Challenger in 2015 after loving the Challenger since my neighbor, a cop who didnt worry about speeding tickets back in 1970 took me for a ride in his new '70 Challenger T/A 340 with the 4 speed stick. After finally getting one in 2015, from the 2nd week of ownership it started failing in many areas, after motor break in it was running hot, not overheating but hot... 252 coolant temp, 275 oil temp. The dealership told me they cant find anything. On the 4th visit i gave them pictures I took of the guages and into the performance pages and still got the BS we can't duplicate the problem. 4 visits nothings wrong... They start it up to bring it back to me and the radiator blew up. 4 visits now they had no choice but to fix it. Bastards, coolant smell never really went away after that. Then it totally fell apart, sensors for adaptive cruise control were replaced evey month or 2, tranny issues for improper shifting, the rear was replaced TWICE!! Then the motor blew up, the #5 cylinder went and caused internal damage to the valves and cam and by this time, 2 YEARS i finally had enough and lemon lawed the car. 22 service calls in 24 months. I took back my deposit on the new HELLCAT Challenger as I saw that quality control hadn't improved for the '17 and '18 model years. I say this in the hope nobody out there is having any similar problems. I can't tell you how disappointed I was, my previous 3 cars were all MOPAR and hadn't had any problems. HEMI Charger R/T and R/T MAX and this Challenger was a total bummer. If they're dicking you around don't let them get away with blowing you off until the 3/36 runs out. Soon as that happened then I'm told it needs a computer , this that and the other thing, BEFORE the motor blew. The wanted $11k to fix the car they told me was fine or we can't find anything wrong while on the warrantee. Before I lemon lawed it couldnt get any dealer to even take it as a trade because of its history and that forced me to do the lemon law. After shoving it up Dodges ass I finally got out of it, if this is happening to you DON'T let them get away with screwing you over. It still pisses me off and why they wouldn't fix it, I dont know why to this day... Best of luck to all and drive safe.

You didn't lose torque. You gained it all under the curve. You lost 6ft/lbs at peak but gained way more than 6 throughout the entire rpm range

He lost HP and Tq down low to midrange. What graph are you looking at? The high Tq line at beginning of dyno run is stock headers and they drop off in the midrange where the Kooks start to perform. The top HP line at beginning is also the stock headers and the same thing happens with the Kooks picking up and peaking high. Weird how some people look at things

The tune is worth 25whp itself. The combination of the tune and headers you probably could have picked up the same amount with just catless mids but the headers sound and look good nice car

Zo maq... Those headers will be corroded and stuck on their by 2023. Best to swap exhaust components when brand new. And I do my exhaust mods at the first 1k mile oil change I do. So much easier to remove a nice shiny factory exhaust. All clean and corrosion free.

neverendingmods I get where you're coming from and in most case's you'd be right, but my Challenger isn't my daily driver. It's my summer time toy and I drive it on sunny day's only...car's never seen rain/snow/ice or salt. Because of this those exhaust part's won't see rust that'll lead to them getting stuck. I do an undercarriage wash once a year every year and the car is meticulously detailed and cared for. So I believe even by 2023 the OEM stock shorty header's and exhaust part's won't get stuck nor corroded. Appreciate the info though

Thats a very detailed vídeo great job ! I got a stock scat and just starting to think about mods, what tuner did you get , did you have to get a new unlocked PCM for the tuner to work? Also I’m learning about shot and long headers is that just a preference or there are performance differences ? Thank you !!!
@KCars
@KCars 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I didn’t actually get a tuner but yes I did have to get an unlocked PCM in order to get a custom dyno tune. I’m not exactly sure on the exact differences between long and short headers but I think long tube headers build the most power in the mid to high rpms and shortys build power in the lower rpms I believe.

technically i dont think its the headers and exhaust alone that has produced that HP. I think your Intake (correct me if im wrong) is a CAI which in combination with the headers and exhaust is creating the total improvement.
@KCars
@KCars 6 жыл бұрын
eTemplarHunter ya it’s a cold air intake, and I think the tune really helped out with everything
@gymratt42
@gymratt42 6 жыл бұрын
eTemplarHunter A cai on the 6.4L cars literally gain nothing. From legmaker, AFE, K&N to the hellcat airbox/headlight tube. I own a 16 scat pack and had a 300srt8 and just sold a heads cam c6 vette. This is the first car I’ve owned that doesn’t respond to a CAI, like at all. The gains would be attributable to the headers/cat delete and the tune. A good tune can be good for 10-20 rwhp by itself. It’s quite a big gain for headers/catless mids and tune, he should be ecstatic with the end result.
@nWoPaullywood
@nWoPaullywood 6 жыл бұрын
i gotta figure that because so much more goes into one of these than most the other challengers that it already has the equivalent or better than any off the shelf intake on the market.
@Bloodofmyshxdow
@Bloodofmyshxdow 6 жыл бұрын
Nah most of the gain came from the longtubes and tune. CAI barely makes a difference on most of the HEMI's. When i got a CAI on my 5.7 hemi, it didnt do much, same with my friend with a 6.1 hemi and my 6.4 (392) hemi. With a tune and longtubes though, we experienced a great deal of hp gain on the 6.1

KCars could be the loss of back pressure with the long tubes versus shorties that keep some back pressure but get way less HP gains.
@heavyhemi2828
@heavyhemi2828 6 жыл бұрын
Back pressure isn't what gives torque, its scavenging. Long tubes, especially the equal length ones like he has really help with scavenging. I couldn't really tell looking at the chart ( kind of blury on my screen) he should have gained a decent bit on the low end, which is where it really matters to get that whale of a car moving. But yea do some reading on exhaust scavenging, it will be worth it.

Hey Kcars : I've heard nothing but good things about Kooks. I believe that the majority of Your HP gain is probably due to the unlocked pcm tuning. The long Tubes will help if You Mod the engine internally or go Supercharged. Factory Hemi manifolds flow really well to begin with but the Cats are the major restriction & even those won't matter much below 650 HP. She sounds really good & seems to want some Fatter tires.:)

Fairly new subscriber to your channel.... your challenger is looking great and sounding amazing. Just want to let you know that being a challenger owner myself if you go with a 315 in the back and 275 in front...not only do you get a good stance but your traction is improved a lot. I also like your jeep you have in the garage. LOL that’s the combination that I have challenger/jeep.👍🏽

riveras_jeeps_n_cars thanks for subscribing! And I’ve been thinking about getting that tire setup but I’ve heard that you would need to get spacers to run 315’s, do you know if this is true?

Hi, I have a 5.7 Shaker that I'm going to have the Long tube Kooks and a tune as well. Last year a installed a Magnaflow cat back exhaust. it's been two years, has the smell burned off in that time? Great video!

How much louder is it when you’re just cruising around? Active exhaust do a good job of keeping it decently quiet when you want it to be? That’s really all that’s holding me back from getting a set. I replaced my mids with race bullets and it’s still real tame when I want it to be. When I get on it it’s a whole different story.
@KCars
@KCars 6 жыл бұрын
Dan Atkinson when you’re just cruising around you barely even notice there’s a difference, it almost sounds stock. The active exhaust makes it quiet when you’re just cruising around and there’s no drone. When you get on it though it’s amazingly ear piercing! Definitely worth it!

Hey man! New subscriber here! Question! In the dyno it said you were making just over 400hp stock? I thought the 6.4 scar made 485 hp 475lb tq?... maybe I’m wrong, just got confused there. Great videos by the way!
@KCars
@KCars 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And yes it made 422 whp stock. The 485 hp is what they make stock at the crank not at the wheels. Dynos show wheel hp and whenever car manufacturers tell you how much power a car has, those are in crank horsepower. Here’s a good article explaining it: www.weistec.com/media-events-press/crankvswheelhp/
