The JLT filter is made by S&B - they’ve been around a long time , they’re definitely not part or made by K and N . The screen for the filter is mostly for water protection. The difference between the scat and hellcat hood is the Hellcat hood has 2 openings in the hood on each side of the scoop so the JLT package for the Hellcat comes with a piece of plastic to half cover the heat extractor hole in the hood and then the filter sleeve is just an extra layer of protection if water gets in. Great video guys

Meat Ball I remember from my early motor cycle days. S+B used to be more known the K+N. Along with Hitech Reed valve etc. This was early 80s
@vincealince_SRT2 жыл бұрын
The Widebody Scatpack comes with the Hellcat hood and the two heat extractors. The sleeve along with water resistance is also to minimize the build up on the filters, as you have 2 options from JLT. 1. Discardable filter, changed once a year or 2. The Cleanable and reusable filter (need oil kit).

Well done vid that was fun to watch love the comparison runs as you did the changes. Thanks. The dip at around 4800rpm as mentioned below is the variable intake runners activating, Can't really tune that out with the stock intake. Performance page dyno on my '18 SP is fairly accurate and it reads crank HP, not wheel. The next easy thing to do on that (besides a tune) is to clean up the intake manifold and put a true 84mm or 85mm throttle body on it. After that you are pretty much tapped out with doing tuning.

@victorwilburn34984 жыл бұрын
Moto: I appreciate your comments. All the people who ask..why shorties and I wasted $, miss this point. Dodge tuned the car with about 5% cushion (25 whp +/-) in the calculated tables (speed density) because they know many owners will install CAI's, cat-backs, etc. Change the A/F more than that...CEL/bye bye warranty. My changes were to extract that last bit of HP without upsetting PCM or the warranty. The PCM validates A/F every cold start and CAN adjust fueling up to that 5% w/o a tune. So NO it isn't a change to transform the car or get a 11 second time slip, but it is noticeable and therefore worthwhile to me. Everyone else can do what makes them happy with their cars.

BEAUTIFULLY-spec'd 392! Rarely see this color combo on lots, which the customer most certainly special-ordered. I agree that the headers aren't going to give the type of gains the owner may be looking for, instead needing long-tubes w/ high-flow cats(noticeable power gains with those two). Getting rid of the restricted exhaust with some Borla ATAKs would add a few more ponies and even better sound. Still, I LOVE what this owner is up to!

Hellkitty: Thanks for you positive comments on my car. Yes it was special ordered and I waited months for it. I installed shorty's intentionally because I wanted to maximize the factory tune and not touch computer/warranty etc. So the..2 changes I made serve that purpose. IF I was a drag racer then long tubes make sense. For a daily drive street car the..2 changes I made result in noticeably more responsive car especially with custom drive mode using several of the track options. Given that the scat uses the same 2.75" exhaust as your Hellcat, more than enough flow for my NA car. Mine is a road trip car so keeping all the things that make it great 1,000 miles from home are more valuable to me. Fascinating how folks criticize something I am happy with, but such is the way of the internet. Enjoy your hellkitty.

And for the 2019, the Destroyer Grey with red interior was impossible. So yep, I know what those weeks and months feel like as well! LOL! What is interesting is that in the case of both, the quality and fit/finish has been flawless, so it may have been a crucial benefit to wait. Love the fact the factory 392 manifolds are 1-3/4 primaries with a 3" outlet (factory cats have 3" inlet to 2.75" outlet) and the Hooker are 1-7/8 primaries with 3" collector. Getting a 12whp gain without a tune on stock cats is impressive. I think one of the reasons Hooker used round ports is for the anti reversion effect on the D shaped cylinder head exhaust port during cam overlap. That and the larger primary size and collector design helped too. Would love to see this car tuned with HP tuners and back on your dyno for a final comparison. Great vid guys!

It would probably make another 20 HP with a 93 octane tune.
@milenkogt4 жыл бұрын
@@brewaire Absolutely, he should have Satera or FRP tune the car if he decides to in the future. The fact that those Hooker shorty headers picked up 12whp kinda shows where FCA limited costs on just reusing the SRT manifolds vs redesigning to a larger 1-7/8 primary for the 392 and Hellcats. Just that change could've put the 392 at an advertised 500hp (flywheel) and similar if not more gains on the hellcat. Also, adding catless mids with those 1-7/8 shorty headers would be even better. Would like to see this widebody with catless mids against another 392 with 1-7/8 longtubes & catless mids, both tuned by same tuner using HPT. Then, both graphs overlaid to see where gains/loss are through out the powerband between the two. Or better yet, the same widebody with LTH if he decides to go that route down the road.

Flow stepping is now known to be better than port-match that's why the headers are round. The larger port makes a step down, the dead space after the port creates a area of low pressure that the flow wants to fall into naturally pulling the flow one way.
@michaelovitch4 жыл бұрын
As i know steps and ridges are absolutely not a good thing for flow quality. A low pressure zone will be obtainable by simply enlarging the section area,but if the transition is smooth,the flwo is not disrupted,you don't have turbulences.

I have a few questions: When you showed the stock header @ 5:29, you didn't shine a light inside like you did the Hooker, and yes, I'm aware the Hooker is black inside... but still. Is it because they're practically identical? When you did the stock pull, was it in the morning or afternoon, and was the engine hot? What were the temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity & engine temperature variations between the stock and modified dyno pulls? What's your location's elevation? Were the modified pulls done on a relatively cold engine in cooler air temperatures? All of these factors do affect power output. I'm asking because they're bone stock Scat Packs all over KZbin pulling dyno numbers within 5-10 RWHP of what this "modded" Charger is. Granted, the black ceramic coating may have added a few hp due to slightly lower operating temperatures compared to stock, and the CAI may have added a few under ideal conditions. But the point is, these cars come off the assembly line with intake/exhaust components that have been precision engineered and fine-tuned by the manufacturer for optimum power output, backpressure, and efficiency. Once upon a time, aftermarket intake/exhaust mods were the way to go for noticeable street performance gains over a stock system, but that advantage ended over a decade ago. In my opinion, the minuscule HP/TQ gains from these mods that will never be noticed in real-world everyday driving aren't anywhere worth the added expense. Other than window & taillight tint, and a de-badge, I'll leave my Scat Pack factory stock.
@LHTPerformance3 жыл бұрын
First off, there’s no sale pitch here. I don’t sell these parts or try to. I simply showed what the customer provided. The did the dyno first thing in morning both times. It could be impossible to get the exact same conditions each time. The dyno does correction for some of these conditions so the results are fairly close. You could possibly contact the company that builds the intake and header and share your theory too. The customer bought the parts and is happy with the results. That’s all the matters at the end of the day. The Customer!

Literally and should’ve deleted the cats too (off-road use😂) lol I bet the gain would’ve been much better

Wouldn't having the hood open provide an advantage in airflow with the aftermarket air filters over the stock?
@LHTPerformance4 жыл бұрын
John Wagner It’s the way 99.9% of dyno operators test anything . If I closed the hood I’d be criticized too. Oh well
@jasonn2774 жыл бұрын
John Wagner not necessarily. You got to think,no matter how much air is moving through the room via fan or a/c. You will never be able to replicate the amount of air that filter encounters at the speeds it’s getting dyno’d at. The air flowing through the grille to the filter when accelerating especially at 100+ mph keeps IAT’s down. Not only that but it provides a lot of air flow. You can’t really replicate that on the dyno, and closing the hood would starve the filter of the air it’s already not getting due to the car being stationary. Not saying that’s 100% why most people dyno with the hood up but I’m pretty sure those factors have a big role in why they do it.

Too bad there isn't really room to make some long proper headers. Solid gains for a couple bolt on parts. You think it would make some good gains if you port match them?
@392starsnstripes4 жыл бұрын
I just saw the video with the blue widebody charger, do you think if a larger throttle body was installed it would help make more power
@greengodaytona93734 жыл бұрын
Awesome video! This is what I was looking for.. what bolt on power can one make without touching the tune and voiding your warranty! I am doing the same on my Daytona 5.7.. it already comes with the mopar cold air intake from factory..but want to replace the log style exhaust manifolds with jba shorty headers. Seeing that the 392 gained 10 rwhp and 10 rwtq across the rpm band going from factory shorty headers to better shorty headers.. the 5.7 should gain the same or more going from the cast iron exhaust manifolds to actual jba shorty headers.. that coupled with my 3.09 gear swap should make for quite a bit more fun.. still retaining all the reliability of the stock car! Can more power be made..yeah.. but it comes with the cost of lower reliability.. and these cars are awesome from factory just the way they are..

@@Samspade01 doesn't matter if it's a Charger, if it's a 5.7 it's no difference. But yeah you most definitely get more gains from longtubes. But like I said for me, I'm pleased with the shorties and the rest of the mods done to go with it.

Nice! Great video. Would long tube headers add more HP? OR would it be enough to be worth it?
@LHTPerformance2 жыл бұрын
According to the comments, long tubes and a tune would make more power. But as mentioned in the video, we installed the parts the customers supplied and wanted. The customer was happy with the results which is what’s the most important.

So you put mobile one in a 6.4 hemi. Mobile ones website clearly states they do not make a oil compatible with a 6.4 hemi. It may say 0w40 on the bottle but not the correct additive package. MS12633 is what u need to look for expecially if it has MDS.
@victorwilburn34983 жыл бұрын
zdaytona: I have used Mobil One 0w-40 (European car formula) now for just over 8k miles with no issues in the Scat. MDS works fine and I have done two oil changes in that time. For me, Mobil One is my go to oil for all vehicles. Have used it since the early 90's in every car/motorcycle I have had and never had a issue. I broke the Scat in carefully from 7 miles on the clock and it doesn't consume a drop of oil (excluding the catch can oil mist collection) I appreciate your feedback though because I..didn't check before I switched. 👍
