Dodge Charger RT AWD vs. RWD: Is There A Difference?🤔 (0-60 Tests!)

Hopefully you guys enjoyed this video! Took me a bit to gather the results, but the tests were pretty close to be honest. There is really only a slight difference in the performance times, but make sure you watch the whole video! If the car had more power, there would definitely be more of a difference in the times, with the AWD helping diminish wheel spin. Awd has been costly in maintaining it. Between 95-120k I’ve done 3 sets of tires (awd eats them) cv’s, awd control module. I’ve driven 77 lesabre, 69 continental, 72 Torino, 92 Camaro, 96 cougar, 97 thunderbird, 11 challenger over the past 28 years in PA. And the 12 awd charger is a beast in the snow. But considering what I used to drive maybe someone who’s drove Subarus or suvs would feel differently. Either way I love my charger and will be sad the day it goes. Nothing out there to replace it with.

Got a nice MMX custom grind cam in my AWD. Thing rocks. Up next is a valve body upgrade then we should have a pretty sweet solid car for awhile. Wouldn’t have this car any other way. Some performance shops didn’t even know an AWD charger existed when shopping around for headers lol.

That's an awesome setup! And yeah not a lot of people knew about the AWX hemi besides the pursuit ones. Make sure to keep your car though! The hemis are going to be more rare

Yeah but with the added wheight of a AWD, the RWD is actually faster. Considering you can’t remove your front diff or driveshafts… I believe you should have removed time due to that situation since the ‘force red’ is still not 100% rwd because of weight difference. Good stuff though!

the awd is faster from a dig , the rwd is faster from a roll, you forgot the handling improves alot withthe awd especially in the rain and on dirt roads, when you take turns it feels like your glued to the ground in the awd. The awds usually come with slightly bigger brakes on the front wheels as well. They give you about an extra inch of ground clearnace too.

The RT while nice is not in the range to overpower the traction of RWD. Now if you pump up the 5.7 or go for a 6.4 really pushing with the 6.2 supercharged the AWD will apply the excessive power to the ground instead of converting your tires from the solid state to the gaseous one.

If we arent professionals wouldnt you want the awd for the added traction and handling...🤔The car does the work for you basically with awd, where you stillhave to correct powerslides and stuff in a rwd if you were pushing it, helps in the rain and on dirt roads too. The only reason you'd really want rwd is if your trying to purposley break the tires loose and do donuts and stuff, or trying to recreate one of those action movie police chase sequences drifting around corners and stuff. Its still basically a rwd car majority of the time the awd only kicks in in certain conditions. If its cold outside and below a certain temp awd will be on full time, if your windshield wipers are on awd will be on full time, if one or more wheels loses traction it will kick in when neccesary, other than that its a rwd car, it stays mostly in rwd to save on gas and only engages the front tires in the affirmentioned scenarios. The awd charger also has slightly bigger brakes in the front to account for the slightly extra weight. The awd also gives you an extra inch of ground clearance too.

@@MrRGM10 There is no road in America where it’s even legal to drive over 85, coming from someone whos owned both after being won auctions at auctions you notice the handling difference driving slow too, you can feel it push the rear end of the car around the corner, I live in FL, it doesn’t snow here. I also have a 3.7 awd Taurus police interceptor as well, the awd makes a world of difference on dirt or rainy roads. Also when going over bumps it mitigates the car from skipping around as much because there is always a drive wheel in contact with the ground. You look like you literally live in a 3rd world country come on now. With muddy roads everywhere, why would t you get the awd. The rwd can get you stuck if you throttle to hard.

But anyways you miss my point that you are making alot of new arguments it is why I put at the end of my statement unless you have winter. No point arguing. Every decision affects when purchasing a car and that includes financial capabilities! Just look at the video its about 0 to 100. At the end of the day your money your rules.
