I had a similar issue where the center bearing went out. The driveshaft was just banging around inside the center safety loop. I ended up putting in a 1-piece carbon fiber driveshaft from DSS. One of the best upgrades you can do for any Charger or Challenger. You can do it yourself even, as it's not complicated at all. Hardest part is removing the exhaust.

@@tribeofbenjamin6 So you can either get a new 2-piece drive shaft, which could be covered under warranty depending on the model year & mileage of your car. Or just get an aftermarket 1-piece driveshaft. Aluminum or CF, doesn't matter. Either will make a vast improvement over the stock 2-piece. If you daily drive though, I would suggest going with aluminum though.

I know I’m late but I had the same problem. 2015 and up chargers and challengers you CANNOT change just the center carrier bearing anymore. You have to change the entire drive shaft (trust me I tried changing just the bearing on my +15 pursuit) a new driveshaft you can get from mopar direct for 800 dollars or an aftermarket 1 piece for the same price. It’s easy to do by yourself. 6 torx bolts connecting to the transmission. 8 torx bolts connecting to the rear end. Two bolts connecting the center bearing. There’s two metal braces that need removed and some exhaust brackets. Easy job just expensive

You actually can buy a aftermarket carrier bearing now. You just have to cut the old one off. Save yourself $700 or $1000 with labor costs. I was unfortunate and didn’t find out about the aftermarket hardware until it was too late. I got a whole new drive shaft.

I was right. The parts that take the hardest stress is the drive shaft mounts and u joints. Your half shaft and bearing takes slot of stress too. Put these parts on your list too because they are next. When you put your foot into it, those parts wear out faster. You are lucky that your drive shaft come through the floor. Done that been there

On my 06 Magnum RT I bought new, at about 2012 my left rear wheel/assembly started making grinding noise on even the slightest left hand turn. I couldn’t tell by getting under the car. Turned out the rear knuckle was broken at the top, basically allowing the wheel to lean in at the top on any left turn, and the rotor was grinding against the the broken top. Fucking bonkers. They had to replace both sides because the replacement was iron(steel) instead of aluminum. Damn. I’ve had some fucked up shit go wrong on my car. But I have a Lifetime Bumper to Bumper Chrysler Warranty so…….it’s not going anywhere for the rest of my life. But it’s a double edged sword. Is that covered under warranty? if u making monthly payments on the car I would shop around for a new or new used base model scat or rt. A dealer can probably match your monthly payments. but it’s up to u, don’t know your financial situation. But blessings on everything.

The rear drive shaft in my 2016 went out, was hearing a knocking sound and took it in for an oil change and asked them to look at it... 1,500 replaced it at the dealer
