Had same issue with 2010 5.7l, column shifter, 11pin connector, blue wire on esm 2nd wire from top. You are the man man, this issue has cost me over 40 hrs easy, i feel I’ve watched this same video 300 times myself

Yo I have a Chrysler 2005 300 with the same code. I’ve replaced the PCM AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH MEANING CHECK LIGHTING BOLT ETC. after a year I notice minor changes in the car as of yesterday the check engine ligh came on an of course TCM U code popes up. Along with other u codes now what I’m asking is how do I get constant power also what’s the accessory wire being ran for also do you think if I replace the tcm it’ll fix issue help me out great video.

I tried to give it a constant, and it fried my module, so I wouldn’t recommend it. That blue wire goes to the PCM ,but I replaced the small black box (3”x4”x1”) it connects to under my column shifter, center console is more common and less labor. (I made a quick video of the box) Had a TCM issue prior and swap out relays under hood, quick fix (diagnosis). Make sure your battery is fully charged, if not it can give false dash lights and codes. No smoke, No worries Hope this helps! Best of luck

@@JohnGelien hopefully it works but definitely you should want to fix it the proper way though . I did like a short cut thing you know but I think someone dropped water down the shifter module side and it Maybe damaged the connector itself and not the shifter module. Not sure. I just bridged the power directly and it worked. Honestly didn’t look into it any further than the video honestly though myself but would be nice to know what was the cause.

Same issue but a hear a tapping sound coming from the gear shift module "like a morse code machine" only does this when is cold outside in florida 55 or below. Wonder if I need to replace the gear shift module. Any sugesstions? If so do I get a USED one or can I replace the electronics on the current one?

Which accessory wire did you connect to? I got it all apart & ready to connect, but can find absolutely zero wiring diagrams on the accessory wires. 🤦‍♀️ No aftermarket radio. All stock.

I would use a ignition fuse. Something that turns on with key so that it’s not constantly gathering power from battery. Hope that helps

Having the same problem but instead it glitches by selecting all the gears on my cluster not allowing me to shift out of park and it gives me a check engine light. I already checked the code and it was a u0103 code but then it suddenly goes back to normal and comes back again. Do you think I should replace the gear shift module or tcm and pcm?

Not sure honestly But me personally I would try the shifter module first and then go from there on out . Process of elimination until it works. A glitching issue sounds more like a bad connections someplace. You might have wet the shifter module.

@@DrewGrindz211 I totally ended up replacing the gear shift module. Worked like a charm. Was too afraid to connect to the wrong wires. Pulled the part from a local yard (got lucky pink thingy was already aluminum in it) and shifts beautifully now. No code.

helppp , check engine light kept going on and off took it to the shop they said my cat was clogged. i also took it to autozone to get checked nothing came back even with the engine light on , a couple days later my steering wheel locked up and the light came on with with check engine , i can feel it not accelerating right , took it to autozone again and the only thing coming up was the U0103. idrk anything about cars 😣, so is this mostly a electrical problem? it is a refurbished car it’s been good for a year till now

Theirs a few things you can check but overall if your not good with cars it maybe best too find a trusted local shop.

If your having shifter issues I’d check the shifter module shifter cable and tranny filter and fluids.

Have you checked your tranny filter? Lack of fluid can cause Limp mode also..

If it’s a stalling issue at running temp it’s something else. Check your plugs and sensors.

Loss of radio is because of the factory radio is gone . Also check the way they hooked That radio up . I've came across numerous times where people look for a ground wire and tap into the data wire and everything works just fine and randomly the car starts doing goofy stuff like this. So from experience I always always use a harness for now on not to mention I don't think the ignition wire is in that batch of wires anyway I think it's done by data which you need a harness for which how most new cars are not to mention you lose your steel remote controls if you don't have it anyway. Very interesting to see how you traced that problem . Which Scanner did you use for this job my man? ... Brand And Model? (Perhaps a X431).. ? It looks to be 'next level up' on all the cheaper Code Readers/Scanners that are on offer?

Honestly I can’t recall at the moment but it definitely was costly. Purchased off Amazon but too be honest i could’ve of done the same job with my cheaper 0bd2 reader which picked up the same code. For a daily mechanic it would be helpful although it Cost around 550$ I believe , I tried a couple different ones and picked a cheap similar version but more affordable brand.

I would first check my wire harness on the Jeep. And next fuses. If nothing after that swap parts and test

Hi, I have code U0103. Say gear shift control module. One day stopped at store. Turned alarm on before I opened trunk. Alarm went off turned it off and tried to turn alarm back on. Didn't work. So I got in the car and every light on my dash was on. Couldn't start car. It would start but shuts down in a few seconds. Could the problem you had be my problem? Also have a p0660 code. Along with anti theft red light on. I changed ignition switch and ignition switch module. Car will not completely go off. Have to unplug the battery. Please help if you can. 2006 dodge charger 3.5 v6

I honestly not sure with this one. Would have too run though maybe the module and check our wiring harness too see if any breaking. Sounds like a short problem or a bad ground going on. It will kind of put the car in a limp mode with the sensors.

@@DrewGrindz211 yes, I have that code. Didn’t know if I could get this code due to radio being unplugged. I took my running driving car apart with no issues and did a full build on it. When I started it and ran it, I got this code. Swapped out shifter from my magnum(known good) and it works but I still get this code

@@themojogt with loss of radio ? You did a swap? Did you swap harness also? Did you plug radio back in? Chop wires in back of radio or used a conversion kit ? The shifter knob doesn’t interact with the radio I believe but I could be wrong. So if you swapped the shifter I don’t think that was the issue. If you plugged a aftermarket radio in try plugging original back in.

@@themojogt if the car runs though don’t worry about the loss of radio code. There’s a way too take it off by bridging some wires but I feel if it’s not breaking anything 🙌🏾 you might just have the dash light on for it.

I replaced the transmission now it ( could use more transmission fluid which I’m buying today !!) doesn’t shift into 2nd or 3rd and what ever gear I’m in flashes … I’ll keep you updated when go scan the codes at auto zone and get more transmission fluid

Hey bud. I have a 2013 Jeep Sahara Wrangler. I’m having the same issue. Did you ever try to manually bypass the electronics by pushing down on a lever to put it in drive or reverse ? I’m curious if you did, did your reverse lights work ? And do they work now ? Thanks and great video.

Yes. I was able to manually pull it out of locked gear manually by pulling pink tab. But after applying power to that wire I did not have to manually pull pink lever again.

If You Have a Scanner Than Can Code Or Calibrate Modules It Could've done it... Because Mine Was Like That, Something With this ScanTool That I Bought and Trying out it's Bi-Durectional Functions Caused Almost All My Codes to Come On. Even My Accelerator Pedal/Throttle Body Wouldn't Work, I Had P2166, P2167, P2116, P2115 Codes.. But, Luckily My Scanner have a Throttle Body Relearn Function. So I did that and it Took Car Or The Throttle Codes and I Had Throttle Again. But Gear Shifter Still Not Working. Now, I'm Waiting for Another Scanner That I Bought that Is Supposed to Do Gear Shifter Module Relearn, Hopefully that'll Take Care Of It.

Broke Down Showing The Red Dot Saying No Communication with The SKIM/WCM and PCM and Shifter Module, I Mean Every Module Was Lost. Car Refused To Start Or Even Turn Over. Something Told Me To Check The Fuses, Checked the Fuses Found A 15Amp Fuse Blown That Caused all These Headache For Me... I Believe it Was #10.. Now The Squares Around PRND is Gone, Shifts Fine, Even The Pink Level That I Always Have To Push to Put in Gear now Works Too. Man, I Went through Hell because of this Little Prick.

Does the rest of the cluster work? Check your fuses or try swapping pcm… possibly the cluster. Check those out and let me know ..I haven’t had any issues with my cluster board yet but if I did I would check those first.
