Next day plowing, no rush. Necessary to start in the middle. There is a stone wall on the right side that starts perpendicular to the far side of the garage door and curves around to the grass to the right of where I stack the snow..Also working on very little sleep in the last 36 hours and going easy on the truck... Go for it @ 1:30 ... Plowing Blizzard Charlotte 36" snow with Dodge Cummins and Boss Power V Plow, TreadWright Guard Dog 265/70R16 Tires with Kedge Grip. Plowing this one the day after the storm because the roads were impassable on 2 previous attempts due to hills with multiple cars stuck in the middle of the road.

When I was a kid I'd just go to the families construction company and grab the front end loader. Nothin like and 11yr old kid driving thru town in a loader. We named the pile Jaeger Mountain and it was sometimes higher than our house. Pretty fun to climb on my snowmobile. The good old days. My 11yr old is a hell of an MX rider but I wouldn't let em drive around in a loader.

Yes those are 4" spots. Used a cut up outdoor extension cord, so I can plug and unplug just like the plow wiring harness. Also hooked it up to a relay mounted under the hood with a switch on the dashboard. Look at my other videos - the ones at night to see how bright those lights are. DO NOT buy LEDs for plowing they do not get hot enough to melt snow, just warm enough to make it stick and build up on the lenses.

Heat sink is usually in the back, so the warm front lens will collect snow most of the time. When it is really snowing hard you need the heat on the glass in front.

How have they been thus far? I need tires and was considering these, the Guard dogs and the B2b Mud Tire with siping. Which was reccomended by the owner of Treadwright. Does the Kedge wear out alot quicker? Would you get them again? Putting them on a Duramax.

Real good so far. Really sticky on wet roads, icy hilly driveways good too but I have lots of weight with the 2 plows plus 500 lbs of sand / snowblowers in the back. I dont use them in summer so can't tell about wear, should last me 3 seasons of plowing before I replace them (usually replace at 1/3 to 1/2 tread (give to my son who then wears them out (he doesn't plow))) I made a vid to show the noise with the windows open, see my list.

I still use the same plow plus I use a 9.2 Boss Power V when the snow is light and fluffy. No issues except ball joints every 3 years but I have skyjacker d25s springs plus upgraded to the 3rd gen steering linkage. Also note mine is a 2nd gen so the weights and restrictions may be different for newer models.

Had the truck out to plow last week in some icy conditions and it seemed there was only slightly less traction than my old studded tires. No scratching driveways anymore though. Little loud on dry pavement but that is OK with me. Now treadwright refinishes the sidewalls also and imbeds their name in the tires.

@DavidFetzner
@DavidFetzner 9 жыл бұрын
The05ZX10R Usually get about 8 - 12 plowable storms per season, most below 8". Once in a while a bigger event like this one dumps 2 to 3 feet. I have noticed that there have been more "anomalous" weather events recently (all seasons) and I think we will be seeing more heavy snow and at some point a long duration strong snow event that will bury the Northeast in over 4 feet of snow.

Nice job overall, but there wasn't 36" of snow there, except in the bank by the road. You must not get alot of snow there, it didn't look like there was any previous banks and you didn't push the snow back enough to make way for alot more snow later in the season.

How much snow do you average a year? Up here in the upper peninsula of Michigan we average about 180 a year. We have gotten around 300 some years. I know up here the media or weather reports will often inflate the snow totals. They might say 12 and I'm only seeing 8 or so. I also push snow in the winter during my down time.
@DavidFetzner
@DavidFetzner 6 жыл бұрын
Around 40 inches average, Max for us was 120 inches if I recall correctly. Most of that came in 45 days with what seemed like weekly storms dumping a foot or more and we ran out of room fast. Listen to the highlighted sections here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/an_Pl6iuodB4ebs

@DavidFetzner
@DavidFetzner 4 жыл бұрын
Yes I could have done it in half the time but the truck and I had done 40 like this the day before so I was going easy, this was 18 hours after the storm ended because the neighborhood was inaccessible -town plows couldn't make the hill and there were abandoned cars in the road.
@daveshack298
@daveshack298 4 жыл бұрын
This is the reason that I have both snow blade and blower for my x748. The problem that I have with a plow is that, over the course of a winter, it CANNOT keep an area clear! Said area gets smaller and smaller... I have a blade, for my JD, because use of it - early in the season, keeps the stones out of my grass. Later in the season I switch to the blower so I can KEEP said area clear... Again...it's a diesel. LISTEN to your motor! You can get a LOT done!

Thanks. It's the day after the storm plowing another driveway after only 4 hours sleep preceded by plowing for 30 hours. I took a chance driving into that deep snow that far especially the day after the storm but I couldn't resist the opportunity to get it on video. I took my time and also wanted to be very easy on the truck and plow which were both 12 years old at the time. I still use the same truck and plow now and both are 17 years old. The truck actually gets better each year and goes where most other fleet plow trucks can't go.
