Dodge Durango Concept 2003

The second-generation Durango was first shown as a concept dubbed Dodge Durango R/T concept at the 2003-2004 Detroit Auto Show. It debuted shortly before the companion Dakota. Like the Dakota, it has much in common with the large Dodge Ram pickup, including a fully boxed frame. It is 7 in (180 mm) longer, 2 in (51 mm) wider, and 3 in (76 mm) taller than the previous model. It also offered a third-row bench with three seats, giving it an eight-seat capacity. The design took its styling primarily from the Dodge Powerbox concept, which was itself based on the 1999 Dodge Power Wagon concept, and the 2003-2004 Durango R/T concept.
Debuting for 2004 was a new coil-spring rear suspension for the solid rear axle. A Watt's linkage system is fitted to the rear axle, centering the axle and reducing rear-end skate over rough surfaces, and allowing a lower and wider cargo floor.

This SUV would have been an absolutely MASSIVE success. I can't believe this wasn't ever put in production, along with the same idea of using a supercharged 5.7 Hemi on a magnum. Which should have also been used in this Durango if they had ever made it like this.

Best suv ive ever owned. Seats 7 with storage space.plenty of power on tap with the hemi and 4x4 can take you anywhere. Robust frame not a weak unibody car. The ultimate vehicle

Wow! This looks way better than production model. Why couldn't they just keep this design? I just bought a 2006 for work and winter purposes, it's a limited, and man i love it. Would love to make it look like this..

It is ugly, but that’s what makes this suv beautiful and it looks and drive better than a lot new suv”s . The most ugly thing is mpg. But I drove 2018 Escalate 50k miles, and my 2006 Hemi with 190k is more smoother than Cadillac. Even the Escalate owner told my that.

@@POTFULLOFGREEN yea if we go to that era its pretty ugly for the time. Lets be honest most other car interiors of the early 2ks were better looking. And the green hue on the cluster isnt much to say its ugly when you can always change the bulb. Imo the only ugly thing about the 2nd gen is the fact that it doesnt have coil springs in the front which gives a bouncy ride.
