Dodge Ram 2500 review, Modified Episode 71.
Exploration outfitters built and driven RAM 2500, this thing is so cool and the first vehicle on Modified I'd be tempted to save up for after seeing the capability of it.

Ronny, if you want stuff from Amazon USA (or any other US seller that doesn't export), you just need to set-up a Australia Post account that shows your address is in the USA. The gear gets sent to Portland Oregan and Aussie Post send it on to you.

Ronny, in the last 2 years or more there's been an explosion in sales of American trucks and an elaborate industry in modifying these trucks for camping and off-roading. Can you do another review of a RAM 2500 based in Australia showing what Aussies are doing with RAM's these days and which businesses are doing the work. Thanks

Yes, at least some states have lighting requirements. PA has a laundry list of regulations (some pretty convoluted). This is the excerpt covering rollbar mounted auxiliary lights:. In accordance with 75 Pa.C.S. § 4303(f) (relating to general lighting requirements), roof or roll bar mounted off-road lights may be installed if they are not used on a highway or trafficway and are covered with an opaque covering at all times while operating on the highway or trafficway. Vehicles equipped with roof or roll bar mounted off-road lights shall have a switch that indicates to the driver, through the use of a pilot light, that the lights are on when so switched.

Good to see a review from overseas with the PCOR setup and their perspective on what they think with the ute set ups we have. Love that overhead set up though, looks way more professional than the set ups ive seen in most utes back here. Ill keep that Idea in mind. Still too big to drive around town, I'd def purchase a hilux or 79series. Also just seen PCORs new left hand drive set up for overseas buyers! :O Good review Ronny.

The fuel figures are not accurate. We are doing 18.7ltr/per 100 at 7.9 tons (22'6" van on the back) on the Eastern seaboard M1. Climbing the Great Divide and some hills saw us do 21.7 ltr/per 100. Just today empty into Cairns and back from Atherton 13.1 per 100. On the flats and no stop start, I've done 11.4 ltr/per 100. I'll get in touch when I get over to WA, you can see for yourself. The power wagon doesn't work with a Diesel because the winch would interfere with the intercooler. He had an aftermarket winch in what's probably a different location than a stock power wagon winch, and the intercooler is in a different place than in a stock diesel Ram

Lazy marketing/engineering dept coupled with neurotic bean counters at FCA. Heavy diesel offroad trucks are everywhere and are the best work trucks bar none. Unless the Ram PW targets only the recreational crowd. The PW diesel should be pitched at utilities, extraction industries, military, and over landing. The Ford TREMOR is now reaping the benefits.

Wrong, Porsche designed one back in 1900 but wasn't really considered a real one because it didn't have a transfer case, so alot of people agree that Spyker was the first real 4x4 a few years later. The First American 4x4 was Oshkosh back in 1911, they designed trucks for military use.

I love that truck. But I did have to laugh when he said in the US we don't do the "tray" thing, but in AU it was pointed out to him that one was a plumber another an electrician, and so on.... um.... yeah, but no. We have the same thing in the US too. Our trade and work trucks are outfitted much the same and have been for a long time. They just don't have the angled back/lower compartments (they are squared of) because departure angles are not an issue for a work truck. Just google "work trucks" or similar and you will find them. It isn't a new concept nor unseen in the US.... it just hasn't been seen for offroading or ocverlanding until recently.

Unfortunately this truck does not have 350 plus HP and 900 lb/ft of torque unless he went through and tuned on it. That is why I don't respect Ram as much as GM or Ford. Ram advertises those numbers, but the only trucks produced with those numbers are dually 3500s with the max towing options including the Aisin transmission. No 2500 has ever left the factory with those numbers. This truck is detuned to around 800 lb/ft.

“American service” for the right money we can put the truck on a plane, wish Aus had the same mentality.

What good would it do us here? We aren't allowed to have any of the vehicles they use (LC 79, Troopy, Hilux, etc)...I would LOVE to have an LC 79, double cab like PCOR produces...Not happening anytime soon...

Just as Ronny gets done telling us not to overweigh an off-roader... a RAM 3/4 ton overlander. Wonder what the Australians will think of this when they wake up lol
@Ronny_Dahl
@Ronny_Dahl 4 жыл бұрын
It about GVM not the weight in general. These are rated to tow and carry far more. This is what should be towing big caravans and not 200 and 79 series.

@@Ronny_Dahl Yeah, to be sure. However, also going heavy seems like it would work better in the US, as there isn't as much deep sand or steep, rutted mud tracks in the western US as in Australia from what I've seen, tracks in western US tend to be rocky, and also not as much beach driving. I'd be interested to see a video comparing between the two regions though!

@@chir0pter Do you think a overlanding(with light wieght componants) 5th gen Ram 2500 on 37x13.5r18 and 18x9 wheels would be worse than Ronny's Toyota 79 series on 315/75r16 and 16x8 wheels when going through deep sand or steep, rutted mud tracks. Just asking for a friend 😁

@@gen1c8rs88 I dunno man, all I know is mass scales with a cubed power of length. Is 13.5 a cube of 8, or at least, is the difference in mass of the two trucks a cube of the difference between 13.5 and 8? Also, Ronny can add bigger tires with relative ease, it becomes increasingly impractical to achieve the same effect with a 3/4 ton truck.

@@Ronny_Dahl What do you think of the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon with the 3L V6 diesel (194 kW 651NM) especially if it gets a higher payload/tow rating than the petrol versions(I don't know when the diesel ratings will be available).

I wonder why the short bed regular cabs are not popular in the US. They are popular in the Middle East just like the Jeeps and land cruisers.
